December 23, 20177 yr Author We fight and we argue, you'll still love me blind... 57.) Dua Lipa - "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" 4th Single, Dua Lipa Points: 10351 Chart Run: 46-33-22-17-17-12-7-4-2-3... (10 weeks) 1nydxbGhgv8 I think this song starts off slow but then erupts into this funky empowering song that makes you want to dance in the streets to impress someone. It's like something cheesy mixed with the same attitude from "24K Magic" and what came out was a stunting anthem fit for any gender. Yeah, it took about two months to get it, but when it got going... it really got going.
December 23, 20177 yr Blow Your Mind is such tuneeee, might be my favourite thing from Dua behind 'Last Dance'
December 23, 20177 yr Author You took my heart on my sleeve for decoration... 56.) Rihanna f/Drake - "Work" Lead Single, ANTi Points: 10444 Chart Run: 40-34-31-27-25-25-21-16-10-6-9-9-12-18-23-29-36-44 (18 weeks) HL1UzIK-flA WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK. This is insanely addicting. The Sean Paul-esque annunciation and the Jamaican Patois added into the lyrics give this some sort of novelty appeal but it's a dancehall track so it fits. It's nice to know that songs like this can still invade the charts like no other.
December 23, 20177 yr Author Told him good luck with the next one... 55.) Hey Violet - "Guys My Age" Lead Single, From The Outside Points: 10757 Chart Run: 50-32-14-2-1-1-1-2... (18 weeks) 3LzWUAkpNrQ DADDY ANTHEM. There's something about this that makes it sound like a Selena Gomez song. Rena's voice is slurred and seductive but at the same time commanding. She's absolutely done with boys and is ready for a man to hold her. That's the first thing that got me into the song: the shock factor added when she says "bout to get attention from a grown up". Everything about this feels darker and more carefree than what they're used to but it manages to work in some way. Big hit contender for 2017? Possibly.
December 23, 20177 yr Author Middle fingers up, put them hands high... 54.) Beyonce - "Sorry" 2nd Single, Lemonade Points: 10921 Chart Run: 45-40-32-26-22-17-13-10-6-4-8-13-17-23-29-37-44 (18 weeks) QxsmWxxouIM Another insanely addicting song. I think everything about this is basically a chant and it gives off the same confident and at times arrogant air "Formation" emanates. "You better call Becky with the good hair" is such an iconic quote. The best thing about this song is that it's one of those songs where you can belt this in full volume (intoxicated or not) and no one will care.
December 23, 20177 yr Author Please don't blame me for what ever happens next... 53.) Zara Larsson - "Ain't My Fault" 3rd Single, So Good Points: 11001 Chart Run: 46-38-30-23-20-16-14-10-10-8-9-11-14-16... (15 weeks) eC-F_VZ2T1c I CAN'T TALK RIGHT NOW IMLOOKINANDIMLIKINWHATIMSEEINGOTMEFEELINKINDASHAH RAH NAH OH MY GOD. The attitude in this song is OFF THE CHARTS. This is Zara not giving two f*cks about what people might think and that's kinda what type of people come on Buzzjack so yeah. It's the type of song that grabs you instantly but then burns off quickly; it's just that aggressive. It feels very Rihanna in a way but there's nothing that I can complain about regarding that.
December 23, 20177 yr Author All heat, no smoke, but she on fire... 52.) Cash Cash & Digital Farm Animals f/Nelly - "Millionaire" 8th Single, Blood, Sweat & 3 Years Points: 11045 Chart Run: 49-35-27-25-23-17-15-11-9-6-7-9-15-19-25-33-39-47-49 (19 weeks) _Z3Lw7aWQrg Leave it to Cash Cash to create an actually decent Nelly song! So if you haven't been following (and I honestly don't blame you), Nelly created "Hey Porsche" which was basically a clone of Flo Rida's "Whistle", and then tried to go country in two of the worst songs of all time - first as a feature in Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" and then butchering Thomas Rhett's "Die A Happy Man". Not only was this actually good, but it was addicting. "I feel like a millionaire!!!" is such a great hook, and the "Ride Wit Me" allusion was pretty creative. Good on Nelly and JP for getting that on.
December 24, 20177 yr Author Had some fun on the run though I'll give it to you... 51.) Rihanna - "Needed Me" 3rd Single, ANTi Points: 11382 Chart Run: 42-38-28-23-20-19-20-15-16-10-9-8-9-11-16-21-27-33-42 (19 weeks) wfN4PVaOU5Q I don't care what anyone says, this is still the best song on ANTi. This is Riri stunting and being the diva that she is - she's a hustler and proud of it and she's not taking any shit from a man that won't take care of her. The way she says "Didn't they tell you that I was a savage?" completes this. Surprised to see this peaked so low, though it did last on me for a while.
December 24, 20177 yr Author High like amphetamine, maybe you're just a dream... 50.) Lady Gaga - "Perfect Illusion" Lead Single, Joanne Points: 11449 Chart Run: 1-1-2-3-6-9-12-18-24-29-37-44 (12 weeks) Xn599R0ZBwg So this is the lowest #1 with a complete chart run. Clearly this was trampled by the new entry onslaught during the last couple of weeks of the year plus when you debut at #1... there really isn't anywhere higher to go. The rock influences are much more pronounced and this feels like her biggest risk since "You & I" (which I also loved!). It's not a complete pop banger, but it has its moments. Even though I prefer a track that's either maximal or exudes attitude, this is a nice balance of those two qualities.
December 24, 20177 yr Author You shouldn't be drowning on your own... 49.) Major Lazer f/Justin Bieber & MØ - "Cold Water" Lead Single, Music Is The Weapon Points: 11482 Chart Run: 33-19-12-8-6-6-6-9-12-14-17-23-30-36-45 (12 weeks) nBtDsQ4fhXY This was a song that I really liked because it stayed true to what made Major Lazer tick in the first place (it was experimental but very mainstream at the same time), but then radio latched on to it for the longest time and I grew tired of the overplay. The drop however isn't anything spectacular. The most grabbing part is MØ's verse. I guess I just prefer her voice in songs like this. I heard a cover of this in a Nickelodeon show and it was... actually decent? Replacing "high" with "by" lessens its power by a LOT though.
December 24, 20177 yr Author Think it's time we got this straight... 48.) 99 Souls f/Destiny's Child & Brandy - "The Girl Is Mine" Non-album Single Points: 11625 Chart Run: 48-37-33-31-24-25-23-10-6-5-3-6-10-15-19-24-27-30-34-41 (14 weeks (20 in total)) BMaT2nGaEVg And apparently one of the highest Beyonce singles is actually a mashup of Destiny's Child's "Girl" and Brandy & Monica's "The Boy Is Mine". Wikipedia labels this as funky house... did Snakey edit the wiki page for this? This was a nice interpolation of the two songs and the mashup really worked well. It's also an utter joy to dance to. I wish these guys released more music, this showcased their potential well.
December 24, 20177 yr Author Went low, went high, what matters is now... 47.) Zara Larsson - "Lush Life" Lead Single, So Good Points: 11947 Chart Run: 45-29-29-16-11-11-10-9-8-11-13-14-18-19-21-27-34-41 (18 weeks) TMTDML5pLno This song describes a wild rush of feelings and letting them slowly consume you until you burst out dancing and stuff. Even if it is a summer crush. But at the same time you don't want it to consume you so you channel all that energy into something else until it just disappears. It's very laid-back and blissful, but at the same time there's this hesitation to form some sort of attachment. Ignorance is bliss in her world and going with the flow is the best strategy.
December 24, 20177 yr Author Twenty racks a table cut from ebony... 46.) The Weeknd f/Daft Punk - "Starboy" Lead Single, Starboy Points: 12040 Chart Run: 39-25-17-10-8-6-6-4-5-9-15-22... (12 weeks) 34Na4j8AVgA This is dark and moody, not much different from his other singles, but instead of coming in your face, it takes its time and builds on you throughout the song. The "ha ha ha haha haha" parts are insanely catchy. Apparently the word "Starboy" is just Jamaican for "celebrity"... I dig it. This feels more like a transformation from the brooding R&B crooner to someone who has had experience with the dark nightclub life.
December 24, 20177 yr Author I like crashing waves, but I want to see them at first light... 45.) AlunaGeorge f/Popcaan - "I'm In Control" Lead Single, I Remember Points: 12133 Chart Run: 48-39-31-26-17-15-14-10-6-5-6-9-13-18-26-34-43 (17 weeks) NSdcG1e9APE Not that I can remember, but from what I heard on the radio I can think of one other song that deserved the crossover success it never got... Yeah this is it. I heard this a couple times on the radio and thought it would make it big but it was never meant to be... It's a very Major Lazer-esque song from what I heard, but that doesn't really hinder it.. Aluna is very commanding and she knows she's the boss. The drop is what makes this song though, I really like the addition of the low-pitched sirens added with the tropical house bassline. It's a straight up banger throughout and it's proud of it.
December 24, 20177 yr Lush life was a huge song for me in 2016!! Also love to the other songs that you posted even if Cold Water was my least fave of the two bieber collabs!!
December 24, 20177 yr The Girl is Mine :music: So glad this did so well officially, hit me almost instantly and an amazing dance track! Lush Life was also instant  A victim to overplay but I remember hearing it in late 2015 and thinking 'this is amazing' :D I'm In Control as well! Regret not putting this in my Personal Chart, I remember how delighted I was when it hit the UK Top 100!
December 24, 20177 yr Looove This Girl Is Mine, they have to release a follow up soon, wonder if they could get another smash I'm In Control is amazing too, should have been huge :( AlunaGeorge need to get their break at some point
December 24, 20177 yr Author Lush life was a huge song for me in 2016!! Also love to the other songs that you posted even if Cold Water was my least fave of the two bieber collabs!!Lush Life was also instant  A victim to overplay but I remember hearing it in late 2015 and thinking 'this is amazing' :DI think Lush Life might be my personal favorite from Zara although Ain't My Fault is pretty close. I remember charting it pretty high while "Never Forget You" was smashing in the US. How random. I'm In Control is amazing too, should have been huge :( AlunaGeorge need to get their break at some pointI thought it was going to be huge in the US after "You Know You Like It" was a surprise smash :( at this rate I should have this done by Christmas :P
December 25, 20177 yr Author You're touching my skin and it's leavin' me hopeless... 44.) Fifth Harmony f/Fetty Wap - "All In My Head (Flex)" 2nd Single, 7/27 Points: 12216 Chart Run: 28-15-11-13-7-6-4-6-8-12-18-24-30-43 (14 weeks) jsbeemdD2rQ After the megasmash that was "Work From Home", they decided to follow up with this Caribbean-infused jam that seemed perfect for the summer... so it's beyond me why this managed to flop as bad as it did irl. It was a combination of early Sean Paul songs with Fetty's "679" which was also amazing so I did latch on to this pretty quickly. Lauren and Dinah are the standouts here, the latter's "FLEEEEEEEX, TIME TO IMPREEEEEESS" is so catchy and she augments the interpolation by a lot.
