August 9, 20186 yr Was still brilliant TV though, I was on the edge of my seat!! I feel quite differently about Lachlan than I did with Phelan - I feel like Lachlan is more mentally unhinged than just a cold-blooded killer. I guess it was the only way out for Rebecca if this is to go on until October.

I guess it was the only way out for Rebecca if this is to go on until October. Lachlan is played spectacularly and I’d take him over Phelan but there was no need to do this with Rebecca, I have a small hope she’s alive but I guess that’s not likely. She had buckets of potential and it’s sll wasted while characters like Dan and Lydia are at the forefront of the show :( Emmerdale’s obsession with October is tiring anyway tbh, the storyline doesn’t need to be dragged out this long. The amount of murders would make Hollyoaks blush lnaooo, we’ve had Rebecca, Gerry, the fake uncle, Lawrence, Chrissie, Finn, Emma and James in the last two years and there’s surely more to come shortly. I wouldn’t mind that as such if there was good humour and storylines apart from those, but all the ‘hunour’ is so shoehorned. As you said though, Lachlan is gripping and he’s the best thing about the show so idek

As you said though, Lachlan is gripping and he’s the best thing about the show so idek  I was feeling sympathetic for Rebecca and didn't want her to die, although if she does survive all we'll be subjected to upon her return is a custody battle with Robert and Aaron or something, it's a bit circular  I guess Emmerdale's obsession with October is no different to EastEnders' obsession with Christmas, soaps like to have a special week in the year where a big storyline reaches its climax (Corrie has BGT week too). It just makes for event television :magic: I don't think Emmerdale's bad at all though aside from the Lachlan storyline. Dan isn't the best character going but I can tolerate him and I've actually really warmed to Lydia - I can only see that going further as the cancer storyline develops. I think it helps that I find most characters in the show pretty likeable actually, so even in the "filler" sort of storylines, I can still find some enjoyment (ie. most of Jimmy and Nicola's scenes lol).

It’s not awful at the moment, it was worse in spring but it’s just all a bit bleak and lifeless. I like a lot of characters but I don’t think many are fulfilling their potential. A fairly small thing that’s also bugged me is the lack of rural imagery and scenes, Under others there’s been a lot and as recently as Kate Oates that was the USP of the show but now it’s just another soap. And too many kids, it’s like a mini version of Hollyoaks there’s like 50 of them omg
August 10, 20186 yr I'm hoping that rebecca white survives I've been avoiding this week's episodes (too triggering for me to watch), relying purely on spoiler artickles. I just hope she has a chance and zack dingle is my favorite character in the last bit I read he was outside the shack come on uncle zack you can do it
August 14, 20186 yr Lachlan he is great and Thomas is a great actor. hes up there with Cameron for me regarding villains in Emmerdale.
August 21, 20186 yr Poor Matty :( the sad thing is that’s probably how a lot of people would act. I’m really enjoying this storyline, I was worried they’d sensationalise it like Hollyoaks did with Sally being John Paul’s father (although they do a good job with her now) but it’s been done incredibly!
August 21, 20186 yr I agree, they've been working wonders with the Matty storyline. I liked what Entertainment Daily said about it recently (mostly in an article about Ryan but Matty got a notable mention too) - whilst the fact he's transgender is common knowledge and the basis of many of his storylines, it's not his *only* attribute. Really rooting for him and Victoria to get together
August 27, 20186 yr I was really enjoying Charity and Ryan getting to know each other and bond, but I feel like they’re stretching out as far as they can until the trial and it’s really repetitive now, we’ve been seeing veriations of the same scene between them for months now
August 28, 20186 yr I didn’t realise Patrick Mower who plays Rodney Blackstock was nearly 80! Well I suppose he must be.
September 19, 20186 yr I am convinced Graham is working with Kim Tate and its her that he is talking to on the phone. Emmerdale have hinted a legendary character is returning in November so my money is my theory.
September 19, 20186 yr Yeah there's a lot of speculation that Kim's coming back. PLEASE BE TRUE. https://twitter.com/emmerdale/status/1041705667751489536 Such a creepy teaser!
September 20, 20186 yr So Lachlan has finally left, do you think he'll return a la Cameron back in 2013?
September 20, 20186 yr This Tara woman is a real ray of sunshine  Legit getting Sarah Harding in Corrie teas from her "acting"
