I'm finding it very one dimensional, Kim was obviously known as a villain and iconic soap bitch but it's bordering on panto villain... It was great for the first episode or so but I'm just wondering what was even the point, unless she actually came back and took Home Farm and had a proper huge storyline.

Kim was always witty and had clever dialogue but I think the writers got a bit too carried away. Like someone on Walford Web said, it was more like Sadie King, which worked for her but not for Kim.

It's worth watching the episode of Frank Tate's death and Kim's 1999 exit. You see can see Kim is capable of evil and there's camp moments, but it's done in a nuanced way and the dialogue isn't delivered in a way that makes it seem she's on a stage in a pantomime. I think the Kim vs. Charity stuff was fine but I don't think it was necessary to have Kim making comments to everyone else. The original Kim wouldn't have been that petty to people she didn't know, I don't think, and it's worth remembering Kim did fit into the everyday village life. Don't think you could see this Kim sitting down in the cafe or having a drink in the pub.

I don't think the character is ruined or anything though. If Kim does return for another stint next year that is more lengthy, they just need to tone it down a bit and not have every Kim scene as these intense camp moments.

I think the main distraction was that it felt like Claire King's Corrie character Erica playing Kim Tate. The writing during 'dramatic' moments under Stuart Blackburn's Corrie felt very showy and panto so hearing Claire deliver a camp line every time she spoke reminded me of that. Got to admit, they did get her look right. It felt like I was looking at Kim Tate and not Erica.

Kim's back full time next year after her stint in prison! *.*

I'm glad, I think/hope they can fully develop her better then. This week felt kind of pointless but as such an iconic character there is more to do with her, I thought they couldn't leave it like that! Tonight felt a bit more like the real Kim rather than the panto villain so hopefully they develop on that.

Haven't watched tonight’s but I'm glad Kim is coming back. The writers may have got a bit excited to write for Kim this week but I think it will be more nuanced next year if she is to fit into village life.

They SERIOUSLY need to axe Leyla :manson: She's the absolute worst. All they ever do with her is give her OTT guy drama and it's so f***ing dull and tiresome :drama:
Rebecca off to take Robron to court, QUEEN, scalp the precious golden couple.

I completely missed this but a couple of days ago it was announced that Lisa Riley is reprising her role as Mandy Dingle!
She still gets a fair bit of work so I'm not too surprised it's just a short stint. Can't work out whether the promo pic is just a photoshop job - to me it looks like Lisa Riley as Lisa Riley rather than Lisa Riley as Mandy Dingle if that makes sense.

Shame she's not back permanently but I didn't expect her back at all, she's fairly busy still.

Also, I'm really intrigued by this Maya/Jacob storyline! It's a bit creepy and uncomfortable but that means it's doing things right!

Recast for

Amy Wyatt

confirmed.

I liked Chelsea Halfpenny in the role and there were rumours of her coming back following her Casualty exit, but Natalie Ann Jamieson, who is taking over the role, does look very similar to her so they've at least got that right.

Debbie dingle is such a hypocrite in this storyline with Cain but she annoys me alot overall as she is very overused.

Exit confirmed for

Lisa Dingle

. In tonight's episode it was revealed that the character

has been diagnosed with a terminal heart condition.

Pretty big news, it's like an end of an era. Emmerdale don't quite have the cultural impacting characters like Eastenders and Corrie do but, for a lot of fans, this character has been a constant player on the show and will be widely recognised and associated with Emmerdale.
