Was really good to see The Chainsmokers get full support from the off, that's given it a few nice boosts to be comfortably in the iTunes top 10 - they've really handled the promotion of Paris well so far.

TOTD 15th January: Bebe Rexha - I Got You

Glad this is finally being pushed, I can see this having more success than No Broken Hearts.

R1's Best New Pop 15/1/17:

4:45pm-4:58pm:

The Chainsmokers - Paris

Nick Jonas - Chainsaw (Sluggo X Patrick Russel Remix)

Sia - Move Your Body

Bold = New Entry

What a messy show this was. Instead of doing at 5pm-6pm as normal, they played them at a 13 minute window at 4:45pm-4:58pm then played normal music until 5:46pm and then continued Best New Pop until 6pm. It was an awful idea as it was an easy chance for viewers to turn off with them expecting them to have a full show from 5pm-6pm, what it meant was the show was stupidly split and overall had a reduced time which meant we had very little amount of songs played and it was pretty much the same set of songs last week. Please Radio 1, keep this utter shocking idea for this week only. :banghead:

What was odd was Most Played ran as normal so I don't know why they had to fiddle with Best New Pop. I mean why don't they ruin Most Played while they are at it... :drama:

Why is there Circa Waves song there twice? And how is Shape Of You not on there? Or are they counting the plays jointly with Castle On The Hill?

I would imagine Circa Waves is more likely to be 13 as its indie but if it's top 5 already then great. Surprised Human isn't top 3 in that chart
Great they had Donae'o as TOTD on Saturday, really catchy song. Probably because he's been signed to a major label after Lock Doh blew up.
#5 is The xx - On Hold, sorry!

Well if On Hold is 5 the. That's great!

I think they're moving Best New Pop to Adele's early morning show now - which makes no sense because it seemed quite popular at that time of day?!

But was is interesting is that Cel mentioned that they would still be playing Best New Pop songs on that show so it feels like now we are just listening to the same show in a really early slot which nobody is going to listen (Neither me) to because the casual viewer would be asleep and not aware that it was on. As well as that, Cel's show target more of the CBBC audience who watch him present the chart on a Friday so moving it to 5am means you would lose pretty much all of the under 16 audience who would only listen to Cel.

Indeed what this means is that Best New Pop is cut to 30 minutes and you cut the amount of songs played by more than a half which means less chance of hearing artists you don't know about. I don't why they had to change this as the format was perfect for a Sunday afternoon listen and makes Cel's show even more pointless now. :coffee:

we have the chart show on Friday though :P wouldn't make sense to move it back to Sunday when the chart is revealed on a Friday.

THEY. are also performing at the Future Festival tonight.
