BEST VOICE PERFORMANCE (MALE)
http://i.imgur.com/AEGF6bv.jpg

Moana - Dwayne Johnson (as Maui)
The Jungle Book - Idris Elba (as Shere Khan)
Trolls - Justin Timberlake (as Branch)
Zootropolis - Jason Bateman (as Nick Wilde)
Ty Burrell - Finding Dory (as Bailey)

A lot more love for films tonight who have already received a far few nominations. First off is Dwayne Johnson for his voice performance as Maui in Moana, a great character who you really come to love and he gets a great little tune too with 'Your Welcome' which also received a nomination here tonight. My favourite of the batch is Idris Elba as Shere Khan, incredibly menacing and the voice really backs it up, Idris Elba had a great year for voice roles between this, Finding Dory and Zootropolis. Speaking of those movies, they also receive nominations for the voice actors behind Bailey and Nick Wilde who are both very likeable, as is Branch voiced by Justin Timberlake who is another character you really come to love as the film progresses. Much like Dwayne Johnson, he gets a catchy little number with Can't Stop the Feeling too

Ty Burrell to win that one please! But all in all a great category! Idris would be a very welcome winner of it too!

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

http://i.imgur.com/U6COlcv.jpg

I was worried that The Girl on the Train wasn't going to get much love due to it's negative reviews from critics but it's done pretty well here so far and even earned itself a best picture nomination which is nice to see. The tale is completely thrilling and really gets you gripped towards the end when small parts begin to become revealed. Emily Blunt also delivers a powerhouse performance which was overlooked by far too many of the awards this year, only really getting a SAG nomination out of the major ones. I think it is one of the biggest shocks in the Best Picture line up so far so I hope it can surprise some more and get a good placing.
BEST VOICE PERFORMANCE (FEMALE)
http://i.imgur.com/EhZAEza.jpg

Finding Dory - Ellen DeGeneres (as Dory)
Moana - Auli'i Cravalho (as Moana)
Trolls - Anna Kendrick (as Princess Poppy)
Zootropolis - Ginnifer Goodwin (as Judy Hopps)
Finding Dory - Kaitlin Olsen (as Destiny)

Woop at 4/5 of these nominees being Disney, they really did rule the roost this year I guess in terms of movies! Two more nominations for Finding Dory which sees Ellen DeGeneres as one the most famous animated characters of all-time and also newcomer Destiny who has the neighbouring tank to Bailey who was also nominated for best male voice performance. I think a good song seems to also be a positive thing in this category as both Moana and Poppy have some pretty catchy tunes, especially significant for Auli'i as she is only 16 years of age. Ginnifer Goodwin also gets a nomination for her work on Zootropolis, she came across very personable but also carried off the emotional scenes well so I imagine she could be in with a shot of winning here!

DEADPOOL

http://i.imgur.com/Tz9YTum.jpg

Our 10th and penultimate Best Picture nominee is superhero flick, Deadpool. This film has pretty much changed the game for the boundaries of superhero movies in the future and already we are seeing movies like Logan become increasingly more adult now that it has been shown that R-rated movies can still be huge financial successes. Deadpool received great reviews for its mix of crude humour and traditional superhero action and was even in the awards race and actually received a fair few nominations! Deadpool 2 has been announced and Ryan Reynolds will of course be returning so there should be lots more to look forward to from this character in the future, I'm sure.
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
http://i.imgur.com/xFIjsVK.jpg

- Arrival-
- Captain America: Civil War -
- The Jungle Book -
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them -
- Kubo & The Two Strings -
- Star Wars: Rogue One -

Six nominees here for best visual effects but if I had to use my sixth sense, I think there are two front runners here who are most likely to win. The first being The Jungle Book for bringing a classic fairytale to life featuring mainly only animal characters and still making it feel so realistic or Rogue One for pretty much raising the dead. The other nominees all have great visual effects too though, Kubo used stop-motion and a lot of real-life sets which makes it even more impressive. Considering the budgets, the likes of Captain America & Fantastic Beasts were bound to have great effects and they delivered too, I especially like the CGI in the latter of the fantastic beasts themselves. Finally, Arrival gets even more praise here and it did have some great effects during the alien sequences despite a relatively small budget. I'm a little surprised at Doctor Strange not making the cut here though :o

:D ONLY BEST DIRECTOR, SUPPORTING ACTOR AND SUPPORTING ACTRESS (and best picture nominee #11) LEFT TO COME then Sam will bring you her final categories later too :D
BEST DIRECTOR
http://i.imgur.com/lHnZ4lo.jpg

- 10 Cloverfield Lane - Dan Trachtenberg -
- Arrival - Denis Villeneuve -
- Captain America: Civil War - Joe & Anthony Russo -
- Nocturnal Animals - Tom Ford -
- The Jungle Book - Jon Favreau -

Some pretty inspired choices here which is nice to see as there is only one director here who overlaps with who the official Oscars chose (I guess quite a lot of them were also ineligible here though too). That director being Denis Villeneuve who got a lot of critical acclaim for his work on Arrival. The Russo brothers showcased why they are Marvel's new favourite directors as they managed to juggle a hell of a lot characters in Captain America and not give anyone a disservice, a feat which I think many other directors would find it difficult to do. Tom Ford had a fair bit of awards hype behind Nocturnal Animals but a lot of it ended up fading by the time the Oscars came around though, it was a really strong movie though so I'm glad it's been recognised here. Jon Favreau managed to overcome a lot of the difficulties of only have one human character and a film set in the jungle all being shot in a studio so props to him for that. The final nominee is Dan Trachtenberg who managed to create many intense scenes in 10 Cloverfield Lane and is very deserving of the nomination here imo.

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

http://i.imgur.com/sAFa91Z.jpg

I think everyone loves a bit of Harry Potter so it's not too much of a surprise to see it here despite this not being quite as well-loved as the other Harry Potter films it seems. JK Rowling really knows what she's doing with her wizarding world and therefore this film was a delight to watch, especially seeing a load of new characters and creatures that we'd never seen before. She's done a great job of getting me hyped for the upcoming four films in this franchise too and I think the fact it's heading towards a young Dumbledore storyline means the box office returns for this will only approve with each instalment !

And so, the Best Picture nominees are:
- 10 Cloverfield Lane -
- Arrival -
- Captain America: Civil War -
- Deadpool -
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them -
- Finding Dory -
- Star Wars: A Rogue One Story -
- The Girl on the Train -
- Trolls -
- X-Men: Apocalypse -
- Zootropolis -

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
http://i.imgur.com/cePBUh3.jpg

- 10 Cloverfield Lane - John Goodman -
- Hail, Caesar! - Alden Ehrenreich -
- Money Monster - Jack O'Connell -
- Nocturnal Animals - Aaron Taylor Johnson -
- Ghostbusters - Chris Hemsworth -

Some more inspired choices here which is nice to see as there is actually no overlap with the Oscars whatsoever. The least inspired probably being Aaron Taylor-Johnson who did get a lot of awards nominations for his petrifying role in Nocturnal Animals, he manages to bring copious amounts of tension to his scenes in the film but was unfortunately left out of the Oscars supporting actor category in favour of his co-star Michael Shannon who was also good but not as good imo and it seems Buzzjack generally agrees too. It looked for a while that John Goodman may have got some supporting actor nominations but I think the film ended up being a little forgotten due to its release date, another actor who manages to bring a lot of tension to his film. Speaking of lots of tension, Jack O'Connell ALSO does that in Money Monster, a very under-rated film which doesn't seem to get much mainstream appreciation but it's done well to pick up a couple of nominations here this year. Chris Hemsworth was pretty much universally agreed to be the best thing about Ghostbusters as he was able to show off his excellent comedic timing, unfortunately the film received terrible reviews and didn't do great at the box office so he didn't get half as much of the attention he deserved, I hope he does more comedy in the future though. The final nominee is the new Han Solo himself, Alden Ehrenreich, who received a fair bit of attention for his role in Hail, Caesar which I imagine helped him to bag the aforementioned role, he is very likeable there and a surprising but deserving nominee which is great to see :D
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
http://i.imgur.com/1wT3294.jpg

- Bad Moms - Christina Applegate -
- Queen Of Katwe - Lupita N'Yongo -
- Suicide Squad - Margot Robbie -
- The Light Between Oceans - Rachel Weisz -
- Nocturnal Animals - Isla Fisher -

Yet some more inspired choices here and just like the supporting actress category, none of these are shared with the real Oscars (although all of those films came out in 2017 here in the UK). I think it's hard to predict who will win this although if I had to place a bet, I think Margot Robbie is very popular on here and did put in what could become an iconic role in the future as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. I was expecting Bad Moms to do a little better here tonight but it's picked up a couple of nominations and a supporting actress nomination isn't bad going, Christina Applegate was really hilarious in this so it's nice to see her get a nomination here which I was not expecting. Lupita seemed like she may have been in the running for the awards this year but Queen of Katwe flew under the radar completely really, she was great in it though and it was nice to see her in a proper role again following a quiet period post-12 Years a Slave. Rachel Weisz was really great in TLBO imo and thoroughly deserved a nomination at all the awards this year imo, her role was very emotional and she pulled it off fantastically, a shame that film's awards hype was over before it even really begun. Isla Fisher didn't have the biggest role in Nocturnal Animals but she did a good job with what she had and for those who have seen the movie, you'll know the final shot of her is one of the most harrowing moments in the entire film.
That's me done for tonight, if anyone's up then join Sam after midnight for the lead acting nominations reveals. Thanks to everyone who's commented so far :D

Interesting final couple of Best Picture nominees! Surprised to see the good but disappointing 'Girl On the Train' do so well!

Supporting actor and actress have no obvious omissions though tbh!

I know it's got a fair few other nominations here and there but I'm a bit gutted that The Jungle Book hasn't made Best Picture, it was fantastic! I thought it'd be a shoo-in too because I thought it was really popular on here :(

Jake Gyllenhaal - Nocturnal Animals

Michael Fassbender - The Light Between Oceans

Ryan Reynolds - Deadpool

Viggo Mortensen - Captain Fantastic

Hugh Grant - Florence Foster Jenkins

Emily Blunt - The Girl on The Train

Amy Adams - Arrival

Amy Adams - Nocturnal Animals

Alicia Vikander - The Light Between Oceans

Meryl Streep - Florence Foster Jenkins

Josh's lists seem right tbh.

Although I'm not sure about Viggo! (I liked it, I just don't know how well received CF was on here )

AMAZING to see Louise up for Best Hero. Seeing a "normal" woman who relies on her brain up against super powered, super sexualised heroes is just *.*

BEST ACTOR:
http://i68.tinypic.com/2ekq6m8.jpg

- Captain America: Civil War - Chris Evans -
- Deadpool - Ryan Reynolds -
- Nocturnal Animals - Jake Gyllenhaal -
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Diego Luna -
- Sully - Tom Hanks -
- The Nice Guys - Ryan Gosling

Pretty strong final six! Gutted Michael Fassbender and Sam Claflin just missed out, my favourite male leads of the year probably :( Wouldn't have Chris Evans here but you can never bet against how well the Marvel films dominated here! Also Reynolds is definitely the weaker Ryan here, I liked him in Deadpool but not best actor worthy! So just like the Globes, it's Ryan v Ryan but this time Gosling is up for The Nice Guys with La La Land probably getting him a nomination next year! And I think LLL probably had some knock over effect here so how far could he go with his excellent performance in The Nice Guys here! Diego Luna was very good in Rogue One and proves how popular Star Wars is here, awards contender and Buzzjack fave Nocturnal Animals scores Jake a nomination and I love that Tom Hanks got in for Sully here! One of the best performances by a male this year and I am so angry he got shut out at Oscars again for such a fab performance :( Say it's between Ryan G and Tom for my favourite performance here!

Just missed the cut here:
Anton Yelchin (Green Room), Sam Claflin (Me Before You), George Clooney (Money Monster), Michael Fassbender (The Light Between Oceans), Ralph Ineson (The Witch)
(From Josh's predictions, Viggo got 1 nom and Hugh got none :o)

The last one, BEST ACTRESS next! Predictions? Predict then I'll post the results for this category!

Some nice surprises there, wasn't expecting Diego Luna at all but aside from K2SO, he was my Rogue One highlight! Surely that means Felicity Jones will make it in too ? I agree about Tom Hanks in Sully too, I'd have probably put him in my top 5 instead of Viggo Mortensen but I also really liked Colin Farrell in The Lobster so I'm not so sure.

I think it's going to be Ryan vs Ryan for the win too but expecting Reynolds to take it actually.
