February 22, 20178 yr Why's it took her 15 years to bring another album out? Looking on wiki "Up" was a massive album sales. I was only like 7 years old when her last album was out so can't say I kept up with her career or knew much about her that's why am asking, However since growing up I have liked a few of her old songs. February 22, 20178 yr Author She went through a rough divorce (from the man who wrote and produced her music with her) and had a vocal condition. All of which is in the article.
February 22, 20178 yr On one hand I'm super excited to hear new music by her. On the other hand I'm scared it will disappoint and it will not live up to her old material. Either way, I think it's a good thing it will not sound like her old music. She's done that, and it's still awesome, and yes I would be up for more of it, but it feels like it's time for something FRESH. COO is unashamedly one of my favorite albums.

You see I'm with you on that Atonement. I LOVED "Come On Over" and the singles off it back in the day. Even though Mutt doesn't have a hand in her music anymore I hope there is still a "That Don't Impress Me Much" banger on this new album waiting to just smash it. Or failing that a Mark Taylor remix! It's funny we should be talking about Shania actually. James Masterton has been uploading his old UK chart commentaries from 1999 on his website this last week, and the success of both "Come On Over" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" in particular were staggering in hindsight. The fact that single was the fourth in, peaked at #3 but was the 6th biggest seller that year, stayed 10 weeks in the top 10 outlasting all that entered the chart round the same time (hello to you, Boyzone and Geri Halliwell). Can you imagine how it might have performed with downloads and streams on top?
February 22, 20178 yr Looking forward to hearing her new material but unsure how well she will actually do. 15 years is a long time to be absent so may struggle.
February 23, 20178 yr It's gonna be really tough to view new music in the context of what it is without drawing comparisons with her earlier stuff, Come On Over in particular. Mutt was a superb songwriter. The melodies were exceptional. So I'm expecting to be underwhelmed, and if this does turn out to be high quality that'll be a major bonus.
February 25, 20178 yr Gotta hear it sometime free, looks great! Edited February 28, 20178 yr by John Thronton
February 26, 20178 yr Im glad she is finally releasing something new but im not sure what to expect, part of me knows i could be disappointed with the results but i have hopes i will like it. I loved Come Over and the Up album but i just think her new music will go in a completely different direction. Come On Over still continues to sell so why single success may be hard for her i still think the album will at the least make a high debut.
April 26, 20178 yr Here's an update, guess this has been delayed a bit. Shania Twain Unveils Plans For New Music MERCURY NASHVILLE artist SHANIA TWAIN has unveiled plans for her first album in 15 years and a new single, "Life's About To Get Good." The single is slated for release to Country radio in JUNE, and TWAIN's album is due out this SEPTEMBER. "I was at home looking out at the ocean, and I said to myself, 'Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a feeling-sorry-for-myself song,'” said TWAIN of the single. "You can’t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about." Wish they'd just release it now if they're ready to announce it! :(
May 1, 20178 yr Would be interested to hear the studio version as this quality is poor on this video. The song certainly sounds like it has potential.
June 14, 20178 yr First UK play of 'Life's About to Get Good' is tomorrow morning on Chris Evans' breakfast show on BBC Radio 2!
June 14, 20178 yr It would be welcoming if she can return with even a reasonable level of UK success.
June 14, 20178 yr Author She's doing the Radio 2 fesitval in a day, so some promo comfirmed, but she's probably left it far too late for any kind of success.
