February 25, 20178 yr Not seen 'Kubo' and I'm not sure whether I want to or not. I'm not really that big a fan on Laika animations at all really, however, I am glad that '10 Cloverfield Lane' didn't win that one haha. All the other categories are deserved wins so far though! I've basically despised EVERY Laika movie up until this but I adored Kubo, the visuals are stunning and not jarring like in some of their other films and the storyline is rather compelling too! I would definitely recommend it because I surprisingly enjoyed it lots! Yay at Tom Holland too, he's surely going to be huge after Spider-man this summer. He seems to have the character completely spot on so really excited for this film! :D My set of results will be tomorrow night as I'm at work tonight 'til 10 and then going straight to bed
February 26, 20178 yr BEST VISUAL EFFECTS http://i.imgur.com/XG6BEf2.gif 01. The Jungle Book (5 / 1) 02. Arrival (4 / 1) 03. Captain America: Civil War (2 / 3) 04. Kubo & the Strings (2 / 0) 05. Star Wars: Rogue One (1 / 7) 06. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (1 / 1) Probably one of the more predictable wins of the awards, The Jungle Book has won for best visual effects. They visual effects team managed to make the animals look so realistic even whilst speaking and they also had to overcome the difficulties of creating almost everything with visual effects due to it all being shot in a studio. I was really expecting Star Wars to put up a better fight though as there was a lot of buzz about the CGI used on certain characters, you'll know what I mean if you've seen the film. It did get a lot of second preferences but the voting system means it comes in fifth places out of all the nominees!
February 26, 20178 yr BEST MOVIE SCENE http://i.imgur.com/0AcR159.gif 01. Captain America: Civil War - Airport Battle (6 / 2) 02. Arrival - The Twist (4 / 6) 03. 10 Cloverfield Lane - Bunker Escape : Attempt #1 (2 / 3) 04. Sully - Plane Crash (2 / 1) 05. Kubo & The Two Strings - The Moon King Battle (1 / 0) 06. The Shallows - Final Battle (0 / 1) Another one that's probably not too much of a surprise because I think the airport battle scene from the most recent Captain America instalment earned pretty much universal acclaim. It's the moment that fans have been waiting on for ages now and it is jam-packed full of cool fight moves and surprises like Giant-man, definitely the big highlight of a great movie. Arrival also continues a great night here by coming second here, the twist is really spectacular and is the reason the movie is getting a lot of acclaim for being so intelligent, definitely a moment that truly floors the audience.
February 26, 20178 yr BEST MOVIE COUPLE http://i.imgur.com/Qen0qz6.gif 01. Deadpool - Ryan Reynolds & Morena Baccarin (6 / 1) 02. Me Before You - Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin (3 / 0) 03. Passengers - Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence (2 / 2) 04. Suicide Squad - Margot Robbie & Jared Leto (2 / 0) 05. Nerve - Emma Roberts & Dave Franco (1 / 3) 06. The Light Between Oceans - Alicia Vikander & Michael Fassbender (0 / 5) I was a bit shocked at the win for Deadpool, aside from a very funny skit of the couple falling in love towards the beginning of the movie, the relationship is barely focused upon for the rest of the movie but Buzzjack has chosen and it was a very funny montage. I was also shocked at how did Me Before You did here but it is very deserving imo, both characters have really sweet chemistry and it leads to some heart-breaking moments, glad to see it get some recognition here :D
February 26, 20178 yr BEST HERO http://i.imgur.com/VVfpp9u.gif 01. Captain America - Captain America: Civil War (4 / 1) 02. Deadpool - Deadpool (3 / 4) 03. Louise Banks - Arrival (3 / 2) 04. Judy Hopps - Zootropolis (2 / 3) 05. Harley Quinn - Suicide Squad (2 / 2) 06. Jyn Erso - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (1 / 1) He may have unfairly lost out on the Most Attractive Actor award but at least Chris Evans takes away an award with him from the movie awards here. Cap has become one of the most popular superheroes around and it'll be very interesting to see how his story progresses after being left a vigilante at the end of Civil War. I was shocked that Louise Banks even earned a nomination here but to come third here is really great for Arrival, she shows the most humanity to the aliens in the film and her intelligence means the human race is able to discovering something very impressive. Jyn Erso would probably have been last in my ranking too so yay at that result, she was kind of annoying imo and I far preferred Diego Luna's character and K2SO!
February 26, 20178 yr BEST COMEDY http://i.imgur.com/YiOrmak.gif 01. Deadpool (7 / 2) 02. Bad Moms (3 / 2) 03. The Nice Guys (2 / 2) 04. Zootropolis (1 / 4) 05. Sausage Party (1 / 1) Deadpool manages to take another award home tonight and it's nice to see as I think the comedy was definitely one of the main reasons that the film was so successful. There were some great jokes and one liners but the gif above is from the scene that probably made me laugh the most in the film  Nothing really came close to the winner in this category but Bad Moms and The Nice Guys picked up a few votes too, it was nice seeing the latter recognised for something here, I wish it was a bit more appreciated at this year's awards as it was a really fun film and deserving of more recognition!
February 26, 20178 yr BEST VOICE PERFORMANCE: FEMALE http://i.imgur.com/F0TttHR.gif 01. Finding Dory - Ellen DeGeneres (as Dory) (7 / 0) 02. Moana - Auli'i Cravalho (as Moana) (4 / 0) 03. Zootropolis - Ginnifer Goodwin (as Judy Hopps) (1 / 4) 03. Finding Dory - Kaitlin Olsen (as Destiny) (1 / 4) 05. Trolls - Anna Kendrick (as Princess Poppy) (1 / 2) Probably one of the most predictable winners of the night, Ellen DeGeneres was made for the role of Dory and it's impossible to imagine a world where she doesn't voice the character. The lovable character returned in last year's Finding Dory and it was lovely seeing her slot back in to the role so well. Auli'i Cravalho quite comfortably comes in second place which is nice to see as she did a great job of voicing Moana too, especially in some catchy tunes such as How Far I'll Go and I Am Moana! I was expecting Anna Kendrick to do a bit better though, I loved how bubbly she was as the voice of Princess Poppy and she also got a great little pop number to show off some personality too in my opinion!
February 26, 20178 yr BEST VOICE PERFORMANCE: MALE http://i.imgur.com/i76PdaU.gif 01. Zootropolis - Jason Bateman (as Nick Wilde) (5 / 2) 02. Ty Burrell - Finding Dory (as Bailey) (4 / 1) 03. The Jungle Book - Idris Elba (as Shere Khan) (2 / 3) 04. Trolls - Justin Timberlake (as Branch) (2 / 1) 05. Moana - Dwayne Johnson (as Maui) (1 / 5) These are some results that I really was not expecting. I was anticipating that Idris Elba would walk it for his petrifying voice work as Shere Khan but instead the smooth-talking, bad-guy-turned-good-guy that you can't help but love, Nick Wilde ends up taking the award. I'm not entirely sure what was so great about Ty Burrell in Finding Dory but I guess the film was popular so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
February 26, 20178 yr BEST ACTION MOVIE http://i.imgur.com/8yehGXm.gif 01. Captain America: Civil War (4 / 3) 01. Deadpool (4 / 3) 03. Star Wars: Rogue One (4 / 2) 04. Suicide Squad (2 / 2) 05. Doctor Strange (1 / 3) A very tough and competitive category but in the end it is the superhero movies who achieve a narrow in over space operas and other superhero movies  We have a joint winner here and two movies which are massive box office and critical successes. Captain America: Civil War is now one of the most popular MCU movies to date and I think has everyone perched for the next instalment, as has Deadpool which ended up grossing more than all the previous X-men movies and also has everyone excited for a sequel. Doctor Strange didn't even get many nominations and doesn't seem to be doing great in the categories it is nominated in either, I much preferred the other MCU movie of last year but it was much better than it's getting credited for in my opinion ! :(
February 26, 20178 yr BEST ORIGINAL SONG http://i.imgur.com/RH5tifj.gif 01. Trolls - Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling (5 / 3) 02. Bridget Jones's Baby - Ellie Goulding - Still Falling For You (4 / 2) 03. Suicide Squad - Twenty One Pilots - Heathens (3 / 2) 04. Moana - Dwayne Johnson - You're Welcome (1 / 1) 04. Moana - Auli'i Cravalho - How Far I'll Go (1 / 1) 04. Trolls - Anna Kendrick - Get Back Up Again (1 / 1) Despite a fair few nominations, Moana doesn't really seem to be doing great tonight as perhaps its two nominations here cancelled each other out meaning it comes joint last here. The same thing didn't happen for Trolls though despite also having two nominations as the huge hit smash by Justin Timberlake manages to take the win here, a massively popular track amongst the general public and now an Oscar-nominated song. Funny that the top 3 happen to be more like movies for song whereas the bottom three are more like songs as a part of the movies
February 26, 20178 yr BEST SCI-FI/THRILLER FILM http://i.imgur.com/5xr0Ooz.gif 01. Arrival (7 / 4) 02. 10 Cloverfield Lane (5 / 4) 03. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2 / 1) 04. Midnight Special (1 / 3) 05. Passengers (0 / 1) This is one that I was actually really expecting Star Wars to walk away with as it is the most well-known of all the nominees and most accessible/more of a crowd-pleaser too but Buzzjack seems to have two darlings which are competing for the spot in lots of categories. Arrival steals this one with plenty of first and second preferences, it's nice to see a sci-fi film that is a bit more intelligent and Buzzjack seems to have really taken to it. 10 Cloverfield Lane fits under both of these categories and is a very worthy runner up, the bunker scenes are some of the most thrilling scenes in movies this year and the ending provides an interesting sci-fi twist. I wonder if it'll be able to turn some of its many nominations into wins...
February 26, 20178 yr That's me done for now, got to do some revision for mock week before I get kicked out of school  Stay tuned for the rest of the results some time soon though!
February 26, 20178 yr Ugh. Ellie getting 2nd out of ALL of those? :drama: Surprised to see JT pick up the win considering 'Moana' won the song rate! But I guess there, we had to rank a top 10 whereas it was just a top 2 in the awards! Visual effects was a completely and utterly deserved win for 'Jungle Book'. Best Movie couple seems to stick out like a sore thumb to me... I actually FORGOT there was a love story in this, until I saw it had been nominated.. So not really happy with that result personally. Every other win is deserving enough though. Although I'd have liked to have seen 'Sausage Party' or 'The Nice Guys' beat out 'Deadpool' in the comedy category I think though. Not that 'Deadpool' wasn't funny, it was, I personally lol'd more at the other two, but I'm not mad at that one. I can definitely see why it won. I'd also switch around "Best Voice Male" to either Ty or Idris. Both those were definitely better, for me. Ty brings so much character to Bailey! "THIS IS AMAAAZIINNG!". Everything else I have no qualms with really! :D (Saying that, I'd have pushed Capt America ahead in best action) Tl;dr? BASICALLY. Deadpool is good, but VERY overrated tbh.
February 26, 20178 yr One that '10 Cloverfield Lane' actually should/deserves to win and it doesn't :') TYPICAL. I still need to rewatch 'Arrival' and see if it manages hits me like it seemingly has everyone else on second viewing.
February 26, 20178 yr Wholeheartedly approve of Can't Stop The Feeling! winning best song, such a bop to this day
