Okay fair enough. It read very negatively to me but happy to agree to disagree on this one.

Anyway, pleased for Stormzy to get the #1!

No worries, Stormzy does seem to be a very marmite artist anyway! :heehee:

Agreed and it makes no logical sense that 15k+ Sales were added on Thursday given the numbers being talked about , nobody has really explained what they think the breakdown of these Sales are, even a plausible approximation?

Sorry to drag this up again but as nobody has even offered a plausible explanation for the approximation for the 15k+ Sales attributed to Stormzy on Thu there can only be one conclusion...I'm sorry JosephStyles but on deeper analysis into the figures your argument doesn't stand up this time.

Even it was a broken down to be a generous 30% streams on Wed, 30% streams on Thu, 20% downloads, 20% physical the numbers don't make logical sense (given the reported Streaming figures from earlier in the week).

People have offered explanations and you have ignored them. I don't know why you're arguing this still because right now you seem to be ignoring the facts? Album streams are added through the week, read back through the thread for suggestions as to how Stormzy overcame the deficit on Thursday.

Never doubted that streams are added through the week, you are missing the point.

Just explain how you believe the 15k+ Sales for Thursday are broken down.

Like I said, read back through the discussion, there are loads of answers to that.

I have read the discussion but it doesn't explain the anomaly of Thursday's Sales. I acknowledge you guys are the experts and have access to more data but there is definitely something odd with the 15k+ Sales for Stormzy.

Avoiding the discussion on Streams getting added because we know the limit of this so I will stick to the FACTS:

Maximum SES added on Wednesday & Thursday = Total Streams for Week - Streams Accumulated in Wed's update = 20,748 - 13,200 (approx. as per Doctor Blind) = 7548

So out of Sales for Thu (15k+) physical and download account for more than 7452 (based on 15,000 - 7548) even ignoring that some of the 7548 SES would be added for Wednesday.

The anomaly is that these Sales are considerably more than even the total Sales reported for Wednesday, it implies there was either a massive spike in Sales for physical and download (but the Charts on Thursday didn't Support this as he was still behind Rag 'N' Bone Man in various charts) or figures were incorrectly reported somewhere along the week.

Let's not forget the fact that Stormzy was campaigning on the Social Media platforms and encouraging his fans to buy and stream the album throughout the week. The fans might see the Wednesday mids where Rag'n'Bone Man was suddenly number 1 and they streamed/bought the album again.

Also you can do maths this way that way but the customers behaviour are not always measurable. Sales are not mathematical functions.

One more thing Thursdays sales tend to be a bit more than Tuesdays and Wednesday if I remember well.

Agreed and we can work out the streams accumulated on Wed & Thu, we have that number (7548).

Based on this the anomaly must be the massive spike in physical and download on Thursday, this doesn't quite seem right to me though.

You are just lost in the numbers and anomalies and you haven't read my post carefully!

This is not the first time an album was leading til Wednesday then was second and by Friday again back to number 1.

I would suggest to end this discussion because you seem to be not able to look through the numbers and calculations and so it will never be right for you. ;)

Ok I will end but from my perspective it is disappointing that we can't give a definitive explanation for the 15k+ Sales or even an approximate suggestion of the breakdown (streaming/download/physical) I stuck to the facts based on what we know, I wasn't really too fussed whether Stormzy or Rag 'N' Bone made it to the top last week but was just looking for a more detailed explanation of how the campaign was successful, if we can't provide that I understand.

 only on the chart forum would this debate last so long!

I'll take this debate over endless and mindless updates of songs in the 50's or 100's on itunes that means a song has sold about 12 copies being posted like anyone should care.
