February 7, 20187 yr I just think he represents the issue of sexism and male privilege in society and I’m glad the media is finally picking up on that. Because his music has never been that high of quality, minus some choice singles I’m done. Bye bye bye. I completely agree with everything in this post, so I shall take my leave too! x
February 7, 20187 yr Author Just rewatched the Superbowl Performance again now that my initial hype had worn off/less loony (well we'll see haha) and I genuinely don't get the hate towards it. Honestly. That was a great show! Was it Gaga good? No because that's f***ing Gaga!!! But his choreography and dancing is flawless. He used the field fantastically too and apart from his mic volume being too low, I thought his vox were great all things considering. I really liked the Prince tribute too. For me it's my 2nd maybe 3rd fave (I've only seen Perry once and that was live oops) after Gaga and Perry. So good.
February 8, 20187 yr His sales predictions are now dropping as the week goes by - HitsDailyDouble is now estimating 250-275k in the first week in the US. First artist to have their sales prediction decrease post-Superbowl performance. Ooop. xoxo
February 11, 20187 yr Author 293k in the end. :D Which is much more than the number suggested above and only just shy of the 300k prediction at the start! :D Excellent. The biggest sales in both pure and collective sales since Taylor's - Reputation. :D This album honestly gets better and better for me. So good!
February 11, 20187 yr This album honestly gets better and better for me. So good! I'm glad there's a few of us that feel this way... it feels like the in thing so far this year to slate JT!
February 15, 20187 yr Author I am really intrigued to see what he performs at the BRITs. I want 'Say Something' but I'm not sure if he will if Chris won't be with him. 'Filthy' will probably be the most likely option I imagine, but I'd really like 'Man Of The Woods' tbh! (Assuming it'll be one of either 'Filthy', 'Supplies' & 'Man Of The Woods' if it ain't SS)
February 16, 20187 yr I doubt he’d perform Supplies since that was released and somehow flopped everywhere, Filthy could be an option but it’s chart life has diminished already - promotion for that would only help the album and not the single itself (not terrible but also not ideal). Say Something is his best option tbh, maybe featuring someone different to Stapleton if he can’t appear for whatever reason
February 16, 20187 yr Supplies wasn’t even a pop single so I can see why that flopped tbh Yeah he could do with Say Something, maybe a separate release for whoever gets tagged into a collab for European markets as well. also to say something on the whole Justin vs Britney thing which i do agree is absolutely mundane, Grant has a point
February 16, 20187 yr Time for saving money and buy a ticket! I'll be in Miami 05.18, anyone with me?
February 17, 20187 yr 293k in the end. :D Which is much more than the number suggested above and only just shy of the 300k prediction at the start! :D Excellent. The biggest sales in both pure and collective sales since Taylor's - Reputation. :D This album honestly gets better and better for me. So good! lets be honest though, someone of justin’s standing and prestiege should be going for a million first weak...landing at #01 is something of a phyrric victory this album campaign has only reflected on him average to negatively...it’s such a stain on his legacy and at this point in your career it’s legacy you’re talking about. creatively speaking settling down and being happy is one of the most reductive things you can do for your career; how utterly uninteresting and dirge!
February 17, 20187 yr Author lets be honest though, someone of justin’s standing and prestiege should be going for a million first weak...landing at #01 is something of a phyrric victory this album campaign has only reflected on him average to negatively...it’s such a stain on his legacy and at this point in your career it’s legacy you’re talking about. creatively speaking settling down and being happy is one of the most reductive things you can do for your career; how utterly uninteresting and dirge!Hmm.. not at all. I don't know a single artist who always manages to break 1m with each of their album releases? Not even Beyoncé who is considered when she releases, that she's the biggest artist around. His legacy has already been created. I believe there's nothing that can happen with his eras now (even in a world of dwindling album sales) that will diminish his legacy as a performer at all. There's still huge hype surrounding him as an artist despite the average-weak reviews this album got. It's still a big deal for (example) the BRITs to get him as a performer. Not gonna say I'm not disappointed with his opening sales, when at first (when it was announced) that he should've been opening with double what he did at least. But then with 'Filthy' literally splitting people, 'Supplies' turning a few people off and 'Say Something' being more of a grower/tailor made to get a radio smash (which takes time), it all became apparent that he was not gonna get the sales he did over 5 years+ ago. And with that going on, we had such a lukewarm reaction to the album with reviews, a backlash that suddenly seemed to happen against him that had nothing to do with what people thought about his album and then with reports and predictions saying his numbers were dwindling each day even after the Superbowl to as low as 260k-270k. I am happy with/content with the numbers he ended with. Sorry if this feels like it goes on and on haha. I'm not very good at articulating what I want to say a lot of the time and it's espesh harder on my phone haha.
February 20, 20187 yr Looks as though JT may be performing "Say Something" at the BRITS if this pic is anything to go by! https://instagram.com/p/BfbdG1MBLqc/
February 20, 20187 yr Author Yesssssss :cheer: I think it'll have a big effect too. (at least hopefully)
February 22, 20187 yr Author Absolutely LOVED his performance. So good to hear 'Midnight Summers Jam' too! That was a great surprise!
February 22, 20187 yr Ditto, Jonjo! "Say Something" could even be number 1 on iTunes on the next update. "Midnight Summer Jam" doesn't seem to be doing anything, however!
February 22, 20187 yr Author I avoided the iTunes thread as I am watching the awards now, so didn't wanna come on here too much. But seeing it have such a huge affect it's so good to see. I'm really praying this becomes a massive hit for him, I suspect it will after seeing how responsive the geberal public have been to his performance. I hope it boosts the album too!
