McLaren resign!

I'm quite glad Croatia won. We didn't deserve to win, go Croatia!

Awful. The best period we had was the last 10 minutes, but even then we couldn't score. The only thing we've learned from this game is that we can't play 3-5-2. At least theres five months now to dwell on the situation and then hopefully a lot of the injured players we've had will be back.

woeful :(

No pride, no passion, no hope? -_-

Laughing stock of world football

Awful, awful, awful.

I really hope that Steve McLaren is not England's manager (before our away fixture against Israel in 2007) after this latest 2-0 defeat to Croatia.

This is England's heaviest competitive defeat since losing to Holland in 1993, when managed by Graham Taylor.

What summed up his management skills was his three substitutions, whilst keeping the injured Ashley Cole on the pitch.

England now have no pace, no quality crosses or set-pieces, no ideas & no clue what they are doing. In the space of three months they have become a shambles.

But that is all thanks to his PR Guru Max Clifford (who previous clients included Rebecca Loos and Posh & Becks former-nanny). Who will no doubt tell him some cliched buuzwords before his next press conference.

Replace with Peter Taylor NOW. :arrr:

Why does it say I made this thread?

Anyway, McLaren needs to go, his selections are rediculous, you don't 'experiment' in qualifiers, at least not against teams like Croatia you moron, save them for friendlies!

When will Crouch get dropped? Another worfull display by that freak...

Rooney, Lampard and Carrick need to be dropped as well.

And bring back Beckham you fool!

Ooh well done Croatia. ^_^ Have been my second team since 1998. I love them and the country.

And after England's luck in the World Cup and Croatia's unluckiness I'm pleased for em.

I merged your post into my topic but you posted before me so it states you as the topic starter. ;)

McLaren won't be sacked but this result could be good for the long term. McLaren now has five months to think over what went wrong and what players didn't perform. Lampard really needs to be dropped now. He's been swful for England for the last 5 months or so and Gerrard should be given the central midfield role he plays at the moment and then Lennon should be allowed to play on the right.

Anyone else starting to think we were better off with Sven? He would've at least got us another goal-less draw

And if he keeps this up, McLaren won't last very long. The fans will get sick, and let's face, dearest stevie wasn't exactly their most popular choice to start with.

Still, you've got to give the man credit. We "challenged" him to come up with a worse result than the Macedonia mess... and boy, did he deliver!

Well done, Steve! Worst display since Northern Ireland beat us 1-0

The Northen Ireland defeat was a lot worse than this due to the fact theyw ere a home nation.

I still think McLaren need to be given a bit more time yet. Some of his selection decisions do really baffle me, but I guess thats football.

What was up with the white shorts?

I think it was something to do with the Croatian kit. It clashed or something like that so they had to change the shorts and Croatia had to change their kit. It was something along those lines anyhowz.

Thisispop, Theo Walcott played well yesterday though :o

But I agree, tbh Beckham should have no way been dropped, he's still capable and to be dropped as soon as he resigned from captaincy is just too much -_-

on current form it should be players like Rooney, Lampard, and Gerrard that should be worried
Well i'm really hoping Lampard gets dropped for the next set of England games. He really isn't performing for his country at the moment. Rooney's a funny one though; he hasn't been brilliant for England since before his injury but he's really not a man on form at the moment and it doens't help with the media on your back 24/7, and well Gerrard played c**p on Saturday and I know a lot of Liverpool fans were happy on Saturday cause he couldn't play against Croatia.
The current setup is awful, at this stage we are going to get beaten by Israel, bring back Beckham drop McClaren, and let Arsene Wenger take the role of manager, I hear on the grapevine, Arsene is going to leave at the end of this season with Arsenal, but its a only rumour at the moment
My lecture finished half an hour after kick off and we went to the pub and saw we were 2-0 down already and so that and the fact my mates mate was waiting outside to go somewhere else we left. -_- Bring back Beckham! :(

Christ you must have had a long walk to the pub, since the first goal wasnt until the 60th minute. Including extra time and half time of the first half thats about 50 minutes to the pub.

I think too much -_-

I was frankly shocked by this.. Woeful. The own-goal was just like some bad comedy sketch.... I mean, ffs, it's the sort of thing you'd see in an amateur Pub League match.... How much does Robinson get paid every week....?

There can be no excuses for this, McClaren has to carry the can, he has to resign. Are you sure you guys aint got Berti Vogts managing for you and dont realise....???

I don't see why McLaren was appointed ahead of Hiddink, O'Neill, Curbishly, Taylor and Alladyce anyway. All he's really achieved in what 4-5 years at Middlesbrough was an incredibly LUCKY Uefa Cup run and a League Cup. They've never been that good in the League. He's never been a good manager and has to go or Israel and Croatia WILL be at Euro 2008.

When was the last time you can say England actually played really convincingly in a competitive fixture? For me, it was against Croatia in EURO 2004! That's how awful we were. The game against Andorra last month was good and convincing, yes. But we should've beat them comfortably with only using players from the Championship!
