it's the Bieber power

Despacito is #20 combined in the UK

other newies

138 Mø

145 steps Story of a heart

169 London Grammar

I think this Desapicto song is breaking a record?

when combined, there's 9M daily global plays :o

That is amazing. :o

It was already doing really well worldwide before the remix (was top 3 at one point I think) but this is bringing it to a whole new level, I think it's going to be one of the year's biggest hits.

The remix is so clever... because Justin really adds a lot to it and it was a good song already. It's gonna smash everywhere, hopefully in the UK too (I know UK despise latin songs that are not in English though)

when was the last time the UK had a hit in Spanish? maybe la Macarena? :D cos I guess for Shakira and Enrique's songs, the UK got an English version... not sure about Ricky Martin's Maria?

La Bamba is probably the last #1 in Spanish (only??)

Don't forget The Ketchup Song!

From Wikipedia:

The first song recorded completely in a foreign language to reach number-one on the UK Singles Charts is "Je t'aime... moi non plus" by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin in 1969 (French). There are only five other foreign language number-one songs which are "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco released in 1986 (German), "La Bamba" by Los Lobos released in 1987 (Spanish), "Sadeness (Part I)", by Enigma released in 1990 (Latin/French), "We No Speak Americano", by Yolanda Be Cool Vs DCUP, released in 2010 (Italian/Neapolitan) and "Gangnam Style" by Psy released in 2012 (Korean). (Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP, both being Australian, both spoke English as their first languages, and "We No Speak Americano" even had a title largely in English, but the song was based entirely on a sample of the Italian language "Tu vuò fà l'americano" by Renato Carasone and as a result was completely Neapolitan.)

Daddy Yankee's 'Gasolina' (#5, 2005) was entirely in Spanish, think that may have been the last Spanish language hit?

Yes at Paramore number 30 on Spotify! Top 10 on iTunes and 54 on Apple Music should see it Top 40 come Friday!

Omg!! We should see Shawn and Lana top 10 this week, and Despacito comfortably top 40, and Paramore top 40, and a climb for Gaga

one of the best chart weeks since I joined in 2015!

Doubt Lana will make the Top 10 considering she isn't Top 10 on iTunes or Spotify :(

Lana has no chance of top 10

Lana has no chance of top 10

Still, a top 20 debut is achievable which is a great result.

i think you underestimate how popular the weeknd is on streaming, think Lust will go top 10 on Spotify just cos of that,

it did 200K yesterday, which is a crazy lot for a 2-day old song on Spotify

there was also Juanes - La camisa negra, regarding Spanish songs, that was a great great song

Asereje was in Spanglish/made up language for the chorus :)

Yes! Despacito is going top be top 40. :D

When Gangnam Style was number one in UK lol

I remember him going something like 3-3-3-3-3 etc but not number one
