We love a gold certified smash! This sounds so good when it comes on for me, albeit a little random amongst her back catalogue. I'd actually love a whole album of this sound though.

Am I right in thinking that The Cure was written for A Star Is Born?

It sounds similar to Heal Me what was used in the film and I can picture Ally singing it plus the single cover she has brown hair on it.

I remember reading it before but don’t know if I’m just making it up :P

Yes I think so too.

It would make sense! It is basically a stronger version of Heal Me (which is brilliant in its own right) and i'm glad it got single treatment away from the movie as it would've got lost in the soundtrack.

Does anyone have the link (or own for that matter) for the Coachella performance in full? There are basically no good clips on Youtube. I would like to relive it...

I still wish they invested more into the single campaign of this. It had so much potential to do better than what it did.

I think this actually sounds very of its time production-wise, it's a really nice song but I feel like the paper-thin production on it hasn't aged it particularly well. Although I do still give it the occasional spin and enjoy it nonetheless.

I've always found this massively overrated by fans. I can see why people would welcome a return to a more pure poppy sound if they weren't a fan of Joanne, but I just find it so bland and empty. It actually makes me feel numb listening to it which really isn't the desired effect of this type of song.

hmm I’m in two minds about this song tbh. The Cure is essentially pop Ally Maine from ASIB (basically Heal Me).

It’s a good song but not one of her best yet I can see why she released it when she did. I prefer most of Joanne to it and if it had been on the soundtrack to ASIB it wouldn’t at all have stood out but I do get it. At the time she probably needed something like this before the film come out to show that she wasn’t totally done with pop music. She’s definitely topped it many times before hand and since but there’s something about it what’s charming. It’s kinda reminiscent of early Gaga / Ally when she’s just about to make it so it has that and it sounded great on the Joanne tour (and the AMAs performance).
