April 21, 20178 yr Author This was a really good year for directing nominees, they were all quite interestingly directed and there were no filler nominees at all. For me: 1 David O. Russell "American Hustle" 2 Alexander Payne "Nebraska" 3 Alfonso Cuarón "Gravity" 4 Steve McQueen "12 Years a Slave" 5 Martin Scorsese "The Wolf of Wall Street" O. Russell only slightly winning though but I liked how stylish and vibrant it all was but Payne is not far behind! and as always, these would be my winners: (AH and Gravity being the big winners due to the technical categories mainly but as I've said before, Her/Nebraska/Philomena are easily my fave three!)
