Lord tonight was terrible, just as we get rid of Lotan for a week we have this shite with Ellie and Sam. I can't stand Ellie ofc but she's an adult can not make her own decisions? :lol: They're mollycoddling her so much, but if she is stupid enough to get into a BB showmance becasue she can't go more than a week without a man that's her own problem, she is 23 years of age.

 

She is so gonna win though :lol: Josie Gibson teas except Josie was at least likeable. Because it's been done before and she's trying so hard, Ellie is felling SO contrived. That's not to say that people can't be similar to her or Chloe Wilburn, but it feels like she's been studying them and is copying all their nuances and asks herself what they'd do in a given situation, which is normally to go to the diary room for some contrived moment of "comedy".

But the public will lap it up because she's SO NORMAL!1!!1!11 The way she had to go around making a deal out of kissing Sam about 8 times to various people to have her airtime moment as many times as possible :drama: Sue is right though, everyone else reacting is as bad, she is 23 years old and can do what she wants :lol: It's not like she's a 13 year old being manipulated by an older man, it's two adults of a similar age having a kiss, it's her mistake to make and milk to airtime.

 

She also seems thick af, I cannot stand that the first thing she says in the Void is "who's a playing a game", YOU ARE ALL PLAYING A GAME YOU'RE COMPETING FOR MONEY IT'S NOT A GEORDIE SHORE HOLIDAY. Nearly 20 years of Big Brother and people still use "playing a game" in such a pejorative way... At the end of the day it is a game first or foremost, all of them want to win that money. I am not here for the "I'm here to have a good time" bullshit, that's all part of the problem, awful casting choices like this who genuinely think they're on Geordie Shore. Poor Raph is wasted on this shitty format, imagine him on BBUS or BBCAN.

I don't think I've ever cringed so hard at BB when Ellie confessed to kissing Sam with that huge goofy grin on her face.

I do think, now more than ever, BBUK should try (or at least do a variation of) the BBUS format. I think Love Island has really engaged people because there is lots of drama that results in the format that sort of leads itself to gameplay. In LI, people need to be in a couple to progress and things like the recoupling and the latest thing with them splitting the couples into two villas and bringing in temptations which could lead to betrayals has made people really engaged and excited for each episode. That all lends itself to gameplay and is what BBUK should utilise more.

 

The Void has shown that it can be effective, it basically has helped the outsiders make the eviction an exclusive choice of insiders. Even if it was just a HOH competition where they are the only ones who nominate, then its left to the public, with a possible veto too. It doesn't even need too many changes but it would create a lot more tension/drama and would help to engage people to watch. With the idea already there, they should utlise it! Rather than try to copy LI with the young people who all look the same, they should actually look at the gameplay aspect because they can utlise that but still be unique and have a different selling point.

 

My only concern would be that the competitions would look shit compared to BBUS and BBCan, just look at the tasks they had to do to gain access to the void :lol:

reading all your points and it made me think the other thing that's wrong with the show is - they all behave outrageous as they all no it gets the air time. that's why I call for more normal people to be put in and less of the young wannabees.

I would LOVE this in one way, but I'd also be unsure :lol: One thing would be the casting, I think we'd need a bunch of people like Raph, Gina and Dexter. As shown by the idiotic responses of the lieks of Ellie and Simone, "playing the game" is such a pejorative term in BBUK despite the fact they are ALL playing it... When you are on a show to win money at the end it is a game. It should be that you want to win, it should be that you will do anything to do so. I don't know where it suddenly became a Geordie Shroe alcoholfest rather than a game. The public probably wouldn't take it either, imagine the FIX!!1!1 accusations that would permeate every social netwok and Ofcom's inbox for months on end :rofl: But it'd probably be the sort of thing that'd be hated for a series and then people would just accept. Personally I don't mind as much when my faves go in the US format, obviously it's still gutting but when it's part of a game I appreciate the move, rather than it being a case of the idiotic public making another shite decision :')

 

But definitely, we've all said it needs to stop chasing the Love Island demographic by focusing on showmances and stirring up drama for the sake of it. It would do it the world of good I think for them to go in the other direction and make it more strategic and backstabbing, more ruthless. It should be focusing more on the competition I feel, especially when there are so many shows that are justa bunch of people filmed getting drunk. The competitions would be a worry though I agree, there's the odd mental HOH in BBUS ofc but they always seem to be the quick ones in a double eviction that get stuff out the way quickly :lol: So in that way it would probably be a pale imitation but I think I'd prefer that than what we have atm. They could always try it just for the civillian series and leave CBB as it is, or trial it with one of the CBBs? I'd love to see it anyway. It won't happen (certainly not in CBB where they have six figure salary recipients to keep safe until the final) but we can dream, I think it's the best "risk" to take with the show as they don't really have anything to lose atm. If it drove the viewers down even further they'd have their excuse to cancel it, but it could pay off. Maybe on a different channel in a dream world :lol: They never stir up drama by broadcasting bitching and stirring with tasks on BBUS, the gameplay and backstabbing and strategy speaks for itself. I think that's exactly what we need, the outcome and arguments that lead to it have gotten so predictable in the case of most of these shit stirring tasks, and it's a short term solution because they argue, get over it and then another task is needed. With the US format, you can have grudges all season that result from someone taking out a showmance or taking aim at an integral part of a clique and that's real drama without the pot being stirred artificially every 2 days.
