Puss In Boots

Nominations:

Best Animation

Rio

Nominations:

Best Animation

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

Nominations:

Best Director: Rupert Wyatt

Best Voice Performance: Andy Serkis

Rise continues the trend of films getting director nominations but missing picture. Bit surprised Rio made no impact in songs either!

Next films (I'm going to do two films at a time from now on!):

Scream 4

Tangled

Scream 4

Nominations:

Best Picture

Best Actress: Neve Campbell

Best Script

Tangled

Nominations:

Best Picture

Best Director: Byron Howard & Nathan Greno

Best Animation

Best Voice Performance: Donna Murphy

Best Voice Performance: Mandy Moore

Best Voice Performance: Zachary Levi

Best Script

Best Song: Donna Murphy - Mother Knows Best

Best Song: Mandy Moore - When Will My Life Begin

Best Song: Zachary Levi & Mandy Moore - I See The Light

Yep. I genuinely don't know which one is crazier.

Scream 4 scores a Best Pic & a Best Actress nomination completely out of nowhere!

And I think that makes Tangled the most nominated film under the smaller system (it's that or Frozen) with an insane 10 nominations and it scoring from the biggies to dominating the animated field! The question is will it pick up some awards or will it go the way of Frozen in being overshadow by a few films in the big categories and vote split in the smaller categories.

Next films (I'm going to do two films at a time from now on!):

The Fighter

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Woaaaah shocked!! Never seen Scream 4 or had any to desire to but never would've predicted any nominations for it, nevermind three major ones!

I knew Tangled would be popular too but not that popular, some great picks there though. Yay at Mother Knows Best!

The Fighter - Melissa Leo, Christian Bale & Amy Adams and maybe Wahlberg too? Probably not script or picture.

Dragon Tattoo - Rooney Mara

The Fighter

Nominations:

Best Supporting Actress: Amy Adams

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Nominations:

Best Actress: Rooney Mara

Best Director: David Fincher

Also thought The Fighter would do WAY better than it did here!

And that's Rooney's first nomination, was shocked to realise that she was never nominated for Carol a couple of years ago?! :o

Next films (I'm going to do two films at a time from now on!):

The Help

The Inbetweeners Movie

ong shook at only one nomination for The Fighter! I wasn't even huge on the film itself really but the acting is undeniable, can't believe Bale and Leo didn't make it!

The Help - Davis, Spencer, Chastain, Picture, Script (seems like a Buzzjack fave so probably Emma Stone too )

Inbetweeners - Script? Picture? I loved this movie so hope it gets a couple nominations!

Best Supporting Actress: Jessica Chastain

Best Supporting Actress: Octavia Spencer

The Inbetweeners Movie

Nominations:

Best Picture

Was also expecting The Help to do better in all honesty :( Was hoping for Picture/Emma/Script/Director also tbh!

The Inbetweeners Movie is the next movie to score a Best Pic nom and nowhere else, and we still have more to come x

Next films (I'm going to do two films at a time from now on!):

The King's Speech

Thor

The King's Speech - Colin Firth & Picture (I feel like Geoffrey Rush & HBC gonna get snubbed)

Thor - Picture & maaaaaybe Chris Hemsworth (he waa sixth in my rankings anyway)

YES AT NEVE GETTING A NOM. Scream 4 is one of the weaker ones but as in all 4, she slays. Literally.

Thor

Was once again expecting TKS to do a bit better than it did, Helena missing out :(

Thor repeats what its sequel did by turning up in picture and no where else once again oops

The last two films to score nominations:

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part. 1

X-Men: First Class

Omg @ Helena being the only acting snub for TKS, it's not her best role ever but she's still fab in it </3

Twilight - Christina Perri

Xmen - Picture

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part. 1

Nominations:

Best Song: Christina Perri - A Thousand Years

X-Men First Class

Nominations:

Best Picture

I can't even begrudge that franchise getting a nomination. ATY is stunning

And just like Thor, X-Men mimics its sequel Apocalypse by scoring no other nominations (though at least for First Class, Apocalypse had about 50% more categories that it could get nominated in  ).

And Josh slaying both those predictions!

Thanks to everyone who's commented throughout this! The final will go up later tonight/tomorrow and this one is hosted by Josh! Voting will be up for just over 3 weeks and we may also do some filmclub sessions for some of the nominees!

(I'm personally gonna try and catch a few I haven't seen, in particular Drive!)

Agreed. Not many "moments" but a consistently great "origin" (?) movie.

But YAY for 'Drive'. All deserved! I doubt it'll win anything, but ah well. Ew at 'Tangled' getting so many nominations though. I wish James McAvoy got the voice nomination for 'Arthur Christmas' instead though. </3 Great to see 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' do so well too
