Just 24 hours to go until the release of Witness so where do you think it will chart and with what sales in it opening week?

Note: It is opening against London Grammar's second album.

I think it'll beat London Grammar actually, their singles haven't exactly lit up the chart.

#1, 30-39k.

But did any of their last ones? They're not a singles band...

I'm gonna go with 35k and #2.

Strong was a Top 20 hit.

Their recent singles haven't done half as well and there seems to be a lot less hype around them this era.

It's released on Friday and isn't even in the Top 20 Amazon Pre-Order Chart, yet you've got Glen Campbell, Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie (Fleetwood Mac members) and London Grammar (twice, in this case) all appearing in the overall Top 20 on just pre-orders. I know Amazon isn't the be-all-and-end-all, but I've always used it as a pretty good indication of what will be successful and what won't be.

I'm going for #5 with 15k-19k. It seems like that should be far too low but I can see it being realistic.

I disagree, I've found there's been a fair bit of hype, certainly more so than Katy has had and I can see them improving on the 33k opening sales of If You Wait. Katy will be lucky to do half of the 54k of Prism.

I've gone for #3 and 20-29k. I'm expecting London Grammar to take the top spot as bands like this always seem to open big with their second albums. I could see Ed or The Beatles being selling a similar amount to Katy and I think the Buckingham & McVie could sell pretty well too. There seems to be very little hype for this and all the social media and internet coverage she's getting is negative at the moment it seems.
20k for #2.

Same.

It will rebound whenever she decides to do some UK promo, I feel like nobody even knows she has a new album coming out here at the moment.

I forgot this was dropping Friday and being the die hard music and general chart fan that I am, it's quite worrying. The fact that I didn't remember probably means the GP have no idea. (My Mum likes Katy a lot but doesn't know she has an album dropping this week)

I was the same and I usually keep an eye on upcoming releases and what not. Even though Katy's done Big Weekend in the UK and various bits of promo in the US, it doesn't feel like it's been leading up to an album release. I suppose it doesn't help that most people either won't know whether 'Bon Appetit' or 'Swish Swish' is the current single or if she even has a single out right now.

Swish Swish and Bon Appetit have both kind of cancelled each other out to the point where it does feel as though there hasn't been a second single and therefore no single to lead up to an album. It definitely doesn't feel as though the album is out tomorrow. Obviously it can't be helped if people aren't really here for her this era though.
Chained was such a big hit in Europe that she should have just released the album off the back of it.
