this week is shaping up to be brutal, and shows exactly why I think ACR should be a more gradual process.

Totally on board with this view.

A good example to illustrate this is "2U" falling 13-35 last week (or something similar) and this week dropping something like 35-37 midweek.

What would you propose? I've said before that I'd increase the ratio an extra 50:1 every week following ACR application up until it gets to 500:1. (So from 150:1 to 200:1 to 250:1 to 300:1 and so on).

Has anyone suggested such a thing to the OCC?

I would but I'm sure there are people with better writing skills than myself here!

A gradual ratio change would be far better! These sudden plummets are incredibly artificial looking and its leading to some very odd chart runs.

Hailee Steinfeld's 'Most Girls' Top 75 run:

62-41-52-51-44-45-40-37-37-37-38-{34}-out

Reaching a new peak 12 weeks in, and then the following week it's gone! ;o

Another fantastic example! So it would have gone to 200:1 rather than 300:1 by my suggestion above. Then 250:1 next week and only 300:1 the week after that. It'd still be fairly low 3 weeks after being at number 34 though...

On the flip side, it will have peaked at 34 because of other songs falling lower due to ACR

I understand why some people might not be too keen on it, but it does the intended effect of speeding up the chart so I can't see the OCC changing it (nor do I want them to)

We aren't saying it isn't necessary to speed up the chart - it's just the current method is far too sudden and doesn't make for a smooth transition.

This will be the last week for 'Know No Better' and 'Signs' before they move to ACR. I'd expect both to have massive drops as they're streaming-dominant.

Feels will be on ACR next week if it falls in sales again this week. Could potentially be a 10 place drop.

Edit. Just realised they are performing this at the VMAs at the weekend.

03 - 16 French Montana - Unforgettable

04 - 17 DJ Khaled feat Rihanna and Bryson Tiller - Wild Thoughts

11 - 23 Little Mix feat Stormzy - Power

17 - 47 Camilla Cabello - Crying In The Club

Ouch for Camilla but it shows how ACR has breathed new life to the chart.

'Feels' will move to ACR not next week, but the week after - unless the VMAs does indeed provide a sales boost (not sure about that though).

But won't this week be its third week of decline?

Next week, it looks like Major Lazer, Liam Payne, Lul Uzi Vert & Martin Garrix will go on ACR.

no, this week is its first week of decline, so two Fridays from now will be its third week and thus when it goes to ACR.

Major Lazer, yes.

Liam Payne is already on ACR.

Lil Uzi Vert and Martin Garrix won't be on ACR next week, but the week after (same week as 'Feels').

As I mentioned earlier, 'Signs' by Drake will move to ACR next week as well as Major Lazer (also from outside the top 40, 'Versace on the Floor' and 'Fisherman'). This isn't me guessing either, a pink fluffy dickie bird told me.

I'm confused. It declined w/e 24th and again last week. Surely if it declines again on Friday's chart, it will be on ACR for the beginning 1st September?

WE 24/08 - Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean 35,901

WE 17/08 - Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean 39,569

WE 10/08 - Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean 38,372

^^ Yep, so this week will be its 3rd week of decline (if it does decline again ofc)

I think I was confused by your wording, thought you were suggesting it would be on ACR this coming Friday, when it won't be until the Friday afterwards.
Now I'm confused again - is is *on* the 3rd week of decline that ACR kicks in, or *after* it?
Once it's had 3 weeks of decline, it's then on ACR the following week...
