that doesn't really solve the problem though.

as has been said before, the best solution (imo) is to decrease the ratio more gradually as a song hits ACR, starting with a decrease to 1:200, then 1:250 and 1:300

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this opinion! Would the OCC see this as needless extra work though... I'd have thought it'd just be some simple Excel work really.

Or just simple programming. It's Millward Brown who compile the charts and I doubt it would be difficult for them to write this into their database.

I would go for something more dramatic though, keep the top 10 on SCR and then increase the ratio to 300:1 (11-20), 500:1 (21-40) and then 1,000: 1 for the rest of the top 100. It would certainly help remove the deadwood, epecially at the lower reaches of the chart and would help increase turnover.

That'd produce too many drastic falls for me.

I'd go for - from the trigger of ACR point...

Week 1 ACR: 200:1

Week 2 ACR: 250:1

Week 3 ACR: 300:1

... and so on until 500:1 or maybe higher.

Does anyone know how many songs have entered the Top 40 due to the new rules that would have otherwise flopped and never made it?

04 - 18 Calvin Harris - Feels

13 - 29 Sigala and Ella Eyre - Came Here For Love

Sorry for the delay, just returned from Spain.

songs potentially moving to ACR next week:

• Dua Lipa - New Rules [still getting healthy sales so should just drop to the lower half of the top 10]

• Rudimental - Sun Comes Up [finally! will likely drop to 31-40 region, or with any luck out of the top 40 altogether]

• Auli'I Cravahlo - How Far I'll Go [will drop out of top 100]

Nooooo! Just realised how amazing this song is!

Unless my maths isn't as good as it once was, Dua Lipa has avoided going to ACR this coming week. Last week she sold 41,413 copies, this week she has sold 40,505, a decrease of 2.2% which is less than the decline in overall market sales of 4.8%. If I've understood the chart rules correctly she will now have at least another 2 weeks at SCR before ACR kicks in.

Omg can someone confirm that he's right

Yeah I was just working this out too! I was so worried when I saw that she had declined in sales then thrilled to see the 4.8 drop in the market.

Yes, it's reset, so safe for another 3 weeks.

It's not often you hear that. :P

The only two songs due for ACR next week are :

Sun Comes Up

How Far I'll Go

songs in danger of moving to ACR next week:

• Louis Tomlinson - Back To You

• Enrique Iglesias - Subeme La Radio

• Post Malone - Congratulations (I *think* this would've ended up increasing its sales though due to his new single, so it should linger around the lower end of the top 40 for another 3 weeks, "yay")

• Lauv - I Like Me Better

Is Demi and J Balvin not in danger yet?

I'm not too sure how it works tbh, but I thought they'd been on the decline now or do they still have some life left in them?

Both of those will go to ACR the week after next provided they don't get any sales boosts in that time.

Demi's album is out this coming Friday, so 'Sorry Not Sorry' might get a sales boost that week.

well none of these seem to have been moved to ACR, in the midweeks Louis is down 16-22, Enrique 28-39, Post 37-40 and Lauv 67-84, the drops would be a lot larger if they had ACR.

Only Enrique is on ACR it seems - the drop is smaller than normal as its streaming wasn't all that high anyway!
