Yeah, the way I see it, he's probably spent about £10,000 on sales for all her songs on iTunes - surely £10,000 would buy a few weeks slot on a pop playlist?

Maybe Spotify are so 'ethical' that they only allow record companies to buy these playlist slots, as opposed to individuals, like Kamaliya's husband.

 

To make any impact whatsoever though it would need Hot Hits UK, which would never happen in a million years because it would blow payola-gate wide open if Spotify let that onto their key playlist. Eyebrows would then be well and truly raised about the dubious compilation of those playlists.

 

Bless her on Twitter though raving about her "growing success in Ireland" due to the iTunes #1 there. I'd be amazed if the song has even amassed five genuine sales, and those would be curiosity buys.

No.1 only on iTunes.

 

I think it's one of the industry's worst kept secrets and not something any of the streaming services really want to admit to, but Kamaliya being top of a prominent playlist would prove beyond any doubt that it happens (though tbh that new Cowell boyband being top of New Music Friday this week is proof enough...)
