70 Years of the UK Albums Chart
Thanks for sharing these! Bit surprised (and gutted) Leona’s Spirit album isn’t in the 2000’s list. Album seems to stream pretty well on Spotify and has a number of high profile singles, so Dizzee Rascall making it over Spirit seems odd.

4 Bonnie Tyler songs made the top 100 sales and downloads chart. For some reason, It’s A Heartache is listed under her birth name. Thought it might be from a label difference from that era and her bigger hits that came after, but Lost In France which preceded them all is listed as Bonnie Tyler. Bizarre.

2026 BPI Certifications
The 5 Colours In Her Hair certifications are so confusing. Have the gold certification this week + the separate gold certification from last month with Get Over You, even though 5CIHH wasn't a double A side and Get Over You was the B side to Obviously.

Nice to see It’s a Heartache getting a lot of love. I know it was a big hit back in the 70s, but it isn’t a song you hear much of these days compared to Total Eclipse and Holding Out For A Hero.

Bonnie Tyler Passes away
Such sad news, though not completely unexpected after the health issues in recent months. Not that there is ever a good day to pass away, the news breaking on a Thursday will reduce any impact people streaming Bonnie’s music will have in the UK. Hopefully there is enough love for Total Eclipse Of A Heart and a couple of her other hits to sustain enough interest and chart next week.

Two new entries in a row! RMB was as bad as expected, but will take any new music charting after the state of last week’s chart.

2026 BPI Certifications
There are still quite a few from that period which haven't gone silver yet. Just looking at the top 200 from 2010 and 2011, these are the ones I couldn't find certifications for - some were not far off 200k so either were missed through some error or have just done very badly since release: 2010 Top 200 uncertified hits 186,700 - Fyfe Dangerfield - She's Always A Woman 140,600 - Jedward with Vanilla Ice - Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)* 140,100 - Pixie Lott - Gravity 133,900 - Chipmunk feat Talay Riley - Look For Me 131,700 - Scissor Sisters - Fire With Fire 124,000 - Glee Cast - Halo / Walking On Sunshine 117,600 - Gramophonedzie - Why Don’t You 109,600 - Sugababes - Wear My Kiss 102,100 - Gabriella Cilmi - On A Mission 91,600 - McFly - Party Girl 91,200 - Joe McElderry - Ambitions 2011 Top 200 uncertified hits 175,000 - Cher Lloyd feat Mike Posner - With Ur Love 174,600 - Jessie J - Who's Laughing Now 167,200 - The X Factor Finalists 2011 feat JLS & One Direction- Wishing On A Star* 127,800 - Kelly Rowland feat The Wav.s - Down For Whatever 127,200 - Katy B - Broken Record 112,600 - Take That - Love, Love 99,800 - Alex Gaudino feat Kelly Rowland - What A Feeling 99,600 - LMFAO feat Natalia Kills - Champagne Showers 97,800 - Tinchy Stryder feat Melanie Fiona- Let It Rain 95,000 - Katy B - Easy Please Me *don’t believe you can stream or buy these two anywhere now

The BuzzJack Friday Chart Show Thread: 26th June 2026
I try to not be too mopey about the state of the charts (we got enough of that on here), but what an awful week. No new entries or climbers into the top 40 for the first time and an unnecessary reset for Wonderwall, when it should be on permanent ACR. Can’t see any benefit to letting it back on SCR at this point like the fleetwood mac ones a few weeks ago. If the point of ACR is to boost new music into the top end of the chart, these resets are not doing new music any favours.

We got Shout For England which was big on release, but not many people in 2026 want to listen to James Corden and Dizzee Rascal…

Never have I been more grateful Thursday streams are estimated for the chart. The less time 3 Lions is back in the charts, the better. So pleased how well Olivia Rodrigo’s album has held up over the week. After seeing a number of big releases this year plummeting quickly, it makes a nice change to see something new stick.

The music videos on Spotify are only available to premium users in the UK, so I would imagine they would all be on the better conversion rate.

2026 BPI Certifications
Looks like there has been an issue with the Howlin For You certifications, where it already had a silver one under Howlin’ For You in 2018 - should be over 400k combined. Roberta Flack

I am guessing Jane McDonald is Mighty Hoopla related, or is there another reason for the increase?

hate that i made you love me • 1st Single
It’s very mid in all honesty. Very inoffensive and ‘nice’ but also nothing exciting enough to make me want repeat listens.

US Hot 100 – 05/30/2026
What an awful set of #1s by Drake. The drop off in quality after In My Feelings is highlighted by everything after just scraping a single week at the top.

Gracie Abrams - Hit the Wall
This is easily my favourite of Gracie’s ballads/slower songs already. Hoping it stabilises and does well long term.

2026 BPI Certifications
Nice to see Will Young getting another certification. Definitely an artist that suffered from a poor sales climate when he was able to get hits and not big enough internationally to get playlist support for these on streaming. Goodies only just going gold seems wild to me.

Expect even more older songs to crop up off the back of Spotify’s 20 year anniversary. Giving playlists of peoples most played tracks since joining the service similar to Spotify wrapped.

UK Singles Chart new entry of the week | 2026 Week 18
I went for Noah, Olivia and Jonas Blue this week. Baby Steps was the album standout for me so glad it is having its moment finally. Wasn’t keen on that Alyssa Grace song. Got iloveitiloveitiloveit vibes from it, but less interesting.

Definitely underestimated the interest that would come from the Michael Jackson film. Given it only goes up to the Bad era, the wider impact on his whole catalogue is very impressive.
