Also note the three Ellie Goulding songs in a row (thankfully with her John Lewis cover relegated to second last after somehow being top 35 last year) after we decide that Guns And Horses wasn't worthy of a top 10 spot after all. Neither was Fireflies. I was very taken aback in a good way when it went straight to the final last year and I guess good things can never last in ROTD, the only way to go is down. However, I'm very pleased to see that the MODERN CLASSIC (feat excellent existential lyrics and a beautiful voice from Reginé, in what is probably an unusually Buzzjack-friendly Arcade Fire song) Sprawl II comes within touching distance of the next round. That's a great left-field AQ, let's hope it keeps up. Big improvements for Get Outta My Way, almost finally beating the far inferior Kylie song (while Alejandro doesn't beat the inferior Gaga song), Katy On A Mission, Love The Way You Lie and Firework all moving onwards. I am pleased for Firework, I get the feeling it's often been seen as underperforming, now it gets a chance to go further. And of course this was the only major change that Leo made, Acapella gets in instead. Firework remains most unlucky big pop hitter in ROTD. Once now has to move through on a tiebreak but it has more votes than Try Sleeping so that's okay. But last year's winner remains on top meaning that we're 4/4 for defending yearly champions, will 2011 or 2012's winners surrender next week?
