1 WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE AES - $56,500,000

2 SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - $45,200,000

3 DESPICABLE ME 3 - $18,947,840

4 BABY DRIVER - $8,750,000

5 THE BIG SICK - $7,600,000

6 WONDER WOMAN - $6,885,000

To compare:

Rise - $54,806,191

Dawn - $72,611,427

War - $56,500,000

A really rather disappointing opening for Apes, I expect they were hoping for more than that (only a couple million more than the start of the trilogy is not great considering this is the ending to it all - especially when you take inflation into account since 2011 too...).

Rather disappointing for Spider-Man too as that is a 61.4% week-on-week drop which is larger than I was hoping for. At least it's already up to $469,370,314 worldwide which is not too shabby.

The best movies news this week is that Sam is back from holiday after what seems like forever (:heehee:), hooray :cheer:

And in UK box office news

Cars 3 was on par with Cars as the lowest ever opening for a Pixar film in the UK as it arrived in fourth.

Disney’s animated threequel grossed $3.42m (£2.63m) from its 517 sites, narrowly behind Cars’ $3.49m (£2.67m) bow from 513 sites which was the lowest Pixar debut to date.

Cars franchise rekT again!

Here is the UK Box Office by the way for last weekend

1 War for the Planet of the Apes - £7,078,921

2 Despicable Me 3 - £3,803,835

3 Spider-Man: Homecoming - £3,718,666

4 Cars 3 - £2,624,853

5 Baby Driver - £977,187

6 The Beguiled - £411,194

7 Transformers: The Last Knight - £122,288

8 Jagga Jasoos - £113,004

9 Wonder Woman - £110,526

10 All Eyez On Me - £89,626

Other UK Apes openings:

Rise - £5,835,140

Dawn - £8,705,013

War - £7,078,921

So that's also a decline from Dawn which is a bit of a shame, doesn't seem to be performing great box office wise.

That is pretty worrying for Cars too, it seems to have been out for ages now worldwide and is only $224 million worldwide whilst the last one grossed $562.1 million worldwide so not even halfway yet. It seems like the bad reviews for Cars 2 really killed off a lot of good-will that Pixar had at the time.

I'm actually really suprised at Apes success tbh. I genuinely didn't see any promo for it until about 2 weeks before which is bizarre for a huge blockbuster. I'm intrigued to see if the great reviews can keep it afloat.

Woah at 'Cars 3' though :( I've still not seen the 2nd, but the reviews seemed to be favourable for this one, right? But I guess that's what they get for going against a recently fresh 'Despicable Me 3'.

Some news from Comic-Con this year:

- A Dr. Doom film is in production at Fox Studios.

- Cara Delevingne won't return for Suicide Squad 2

- Shazam is going to be the next DCEU film to be filmed. Dwayne Johnson won't appear as Black Adam.

-

- Avengers: Infinity War concept art

As much as I'd like Fantastic Four to just be return to Disney Marvel, a Dr Doom solo movie actually sounds pretty interesting and I'd definitely check it out.

I like the Avengers art too, this film is going to be jam-packed full of A-listers *-*

Sorry to boost an old topic but I searched "Marvel" and this is the first relevant topic for it haha.

Stan Lee is apparently optimistic about Marvel Studios getting back the rights for both the X-Men and Fantastic 4 characters/working with Fox just like they did with Sony for Spiderman!
