October 20, 20177 yr "Whiskey" is probably the most boring and pointless song that they've ever put out: B9zTaNZ_n5s "Help Me Out" QqbMpE4dPao
October 20, 20177 yr I think this is the first Maroon 5 album that doesn't interest me. Haven't been particularly inspired by anything from this era - "Cold" has been the best but is only included as a bonus track??? Please get back to your roots, Maroon 5.
October 20, 20177 yr I expect they'll return to their roots as soon as their current wave of relevance dries up, whenever that might be. Every time I think 'this will be their last big hit single' they manage another...and another, with some of the most generic and average songs of the last few years.
October 20, 20177 yr Lmao every single song they've released in the last 12 months has had a featured artist  They're truly dire these days.

It always seems to happen the same way too. They get good first week digital sales because they're an established act, and ok streaming numbers for the same reason (and also attaching themselves to a buzzed about artist). By week 2 the sales have dipped, but all the big playlists that they're always added towards the top of kick in, so it secures a spot in the top 50 (and reaps the top 50 effect), resulting in a chart run that starts off a bit steady, but eventually climbs just a little when radio have caught up. Those playlists will keep them around longer than necessary, and as soon as that support drops, the songs drop out of existence. Just look at how tragic "Cold" progressed once its time was arbitrarily up.

That's only been recent tracks tho, and ultimately the performance of the album between now and xmas will tell the tale of their popularity!
November 3, 20177 yr This is about as lazy and trashy as I was expecting. The first Maroon 5 album I haven’t loved on first listen. Maybe it’ll grow but after one listen, there’s nothing more memorable than WLD and DWK.
November 3, 20177 yr Heard most of the iTunes clips and not impressed with the sound of this album. Cold is the best thing on there by far.
November 3, 20177 yr Heard most of the iTunes clips and not impressed with the sound of this album. Cold is the best thing on there by far.If Cold isn’t the best on the album it’s must’ve be a really shitty album A lot of the album is much better than that but I do agree that it feels mainly filler and not that many standout tracks. I did end up liking Plastic Rose, Visions, Whiskey & Best Of Me (Bet My Heart as well to a lesser extent) but nothing can top What Lovers Do which is unfortunate. I really like their more funky songs (Misery   ) or ones with a ton of kick (Animals & This Summer’s Gonna Hurt were their two best of recent times before WLD was released) and less songs that sound like standard blogpop. It works with some bands like Hey Violet... just not with Maroon 5. On a more positive note, I can see this growing... I think.
November 5, 20177 yr I’ve been mega busy this weekend but I’ve given this a few spins and it is beginning to GROW. I think it’s pretty shit but I’m starting to cluck with some tracks, I finally got Wait this morning. What Lovers Do is still easily the best thing here.
November 5, 20177 yr I love Best 4 U, Plastic Rose, and Lips On You. I still have most of the songs to listen to because I keep going back to those.
November 7, 20177 yr There's a few decent-ish tracks on this but there's also a LOT of filler. Definitely their weakest album to date. I love the first 3 minutes of 'Closure' - although why they needed to make it 11 minutes long I have no idea, the last 8 minutes is just repetitive, indulgent and utterly pointless. January 21, 20187 yr I listened to this album again the other day. There are a couple of catchy songs I guess but it’s still just not that good.
January 21, 20187 yr Just listened to the new single... it's okay but it's really not them :S like, their identity has dramatically gone missing this era. Perhaps it was always heading this way.
