I don't like the fact that he feels this pressure to keep working to keep the boat afloat.

He has so much money. He doesn't need to keep working. He could take a break.

I wish he were a man who could be kinder to himself but he's not. I think that's why a lot of his fans feel so protective towards him.

It's not to do with the money though Laura, I think he just cannot step away from what he does , he loves it but it kills him at the same time

OK , Iv'e read another bit. Funny how he made up with Piers Morgan but funnier still the connection between Piers wife & Ayda both having the same pilates instructor in London, I think the women would have been friends even if they had not made up :P

I am up to the bit where the 2006 tour starts, gosh he took a lot on there & regretted it right fro the start ,,

It also got me thinking about how Robbie suddenly does stuff like cancelling his appearances, remember his appearance as a judge on that tv show that Gary had on the BBC , he could not do the judging slot , I was really looking forward to that & then he appears singing Flood with the lads & I am gobstruck :o , you just have very much to take the man at face value because there usually are no hidden agendas , he says it as it is .

This gets a mention in the book. :)

And he mentions the gardeners.

That's why he keeps touring

Slow getting trough this book I know n=but I am really enjoying it as there is loads I did not know being not a frequent Upfront visitor , I must have missed loads .

I like the way Chris Heath writes about Robbie , he knows him & ihs little ways well & that comes across in the book , it's a good read

It must have been an awful feeling in S Africa in 2006 starting a tour & knowing deep down his heart was not in it :o .. you have to admire him for getting to the end .

Lovely to read how Jonny & Robbie came up with the Soccer Aid idea, something they can both be very proud of to this day & has been so successful .

As you can see i have got to page 16 so far.

How do you guys read a book, do you like me keep going back over bits , I think that is why it takes me so long to get to the end of any book :P

I really like HES as a show opener, I always thought it would be hard to replace LMEY but they found it ...

He talks about the making of Rudebox, calling it a ' A Gap Year record ' , maybe if he had promoted it as such it would not have got the flack that it did . I guess his head was not in the right place for promo at the time but his silence on the mater did not help the album & in turn the slating it got in the press even though I think the knockdown by the press was more to do with putting Robbie firmly back in his box rather than anything to do with the album

Actually reading it again it was more due to the fact that he verbally abused Victoria Newton at a party in LA . it cannot have been too much of a surprise then that she got her own back ..

He talked to his therapist about spending ( I could do with such a chat  ) he says in his book that he is afraid all the money will go , I guess that is why he keeps doing it

Yes that's what I mean Tess. He has this fear that it will all disappear which I guess a lot of people would have. But when you think he was worth £90m 2006 and is up to £160m now. Touring is very lucrative but not at the price of his health. Nothing is worth that. -_-

I think even if the Sun had not dubbed the single "the worst song ever" that campaign was doomed. It was his time to get a kicking. The press had decided he had got above himself and needed to be brought down a peg or two, and they were going to be the ones to do it. It just made him stronger to overcome it although the book makes it clear that it wasn't plain sailing when he made RKTVS.

It also makes it clearer how much he mentally needed a safe place within TT at that time. I think it helped him a great deal and GB especially was responsible for helping to bring back his confidence. There is such safety in numbers and that's what He needed. I think Robbie has acknowledged that many times, at the time in his blog and subsequently. It gave him the confidence to make TTC and do the tour.

The Swing Tour was something he enjoyed very much too. I just think his bad back this time around has made this last tour more challenging but he keeps pushing forward, something I admire him for very much. He's a strong man.

Em !! , I am finding this book tough going so far , I am at page 74 at the mo , so far he is coming across completely as a 'me' guy . I expect to change my mind several times as I go along

He released RKTVS 2009. He's been in the studio with TT the month before in NYC. Shame came out September 2010. RW greatest bits came out October 2010 and Progress November 2010. :)

Can you remember all that off the top of your head Laura or are you reading it from something .

I remember the NYC bit but could not remember when it was , it was quite a long time after his rehab stint then . Did he take a break of nearly three years at the time , it did not seem that long

Ayda even agrees with me about all the negative stuff he thinks about himself, she calls it self obsession of ' I'm so shit '

Robbie answers ; I believe my own press but only the press where they hate me '

"Greatest bits"
