Listened to "Mercy" and "Eva"... I don't think it matters which of the 2 they sent really. "Mercy" I do think has some charm, and will grow, but really "Requiem" and "J'ai Cherché" were light years better.

I've heard the studio version of "Mercy" a few times since it was selected and it's actually a really nice song to listen to. Maybe I was too quick to write it off as average. That said, it still isn't at "J'ai Cherché" or "Requiem" standard.

How is everyone getting on with this one? It feels very Christine & The Queens for me, I'm still loving it :o

I really enjoy it but I'm not sure how likely it is that I'll enjoy how they stage it in May. The guy being on stage does so much to detract from the meaning of the song.

Has this actually got the potential to win? Just watched the NF performance back and it is captivating, so intrigued to see what they actually do at the contest.

It’s taken a few listens but this is really clicking with me now. Easily the best out of the big 5 (nothing to do with the remaining four being between shite to unbelievably shite).

Yeah I'm not a huge fan having listened, it's lovely in French because you get the gist but the message doesn't overpower yet it feels a bit pushed and forced in English :lol:

Yeah, it's too much of a direct translation. That doesn't often work. It just sounds harsh and loses all its magic in English. I think it highlights just how good the French version is though :wub: Still my favourite, against all odds.

I really want France to win so I can go to Eurovish 2019 as I'll on my year abroad next year. But like this song isn't good enough to win me thinks. But it is growing on me, especially in French- perks of studying the language I guess
