It going Diamond would certainly bring it a lot of attention, so it is a shame that this would not be announced any time soon...

If they go on tour or release that documentary, I can see it being added to the marketing promo that it is a diamond-selling album!

So never then?

According to 100 best selling albums of the 90s book in the USA, Spice is the 38th best selling album with 10,150,000 sales in the USA.

A diamond selling-album would be so great to their legacy. It would be the only second girlband's album after, "Crazy, Sexy, and Cool"!

Wannabe has been certified Platinum in Spain for sales of 60,000. :cheer:

I am assuming it's streaming sales as well.

Awards certification

Goodness me, Spanish single sales must be really abysmal if it has only just sold 60k! Their first album sold over a million there, wasn't it the only English language to do so?

And Spiceworld sold 200,000 copies so that is still a resounding success then if wannabe only sold that much

Some more info, from this forum

It includes many certifications, peaks and chart runs such as the below. A lot of it goes back to 2004 when it was posted so some of the information might not be up to date when it comes to sales/certifications.

An example of info available there:

Didn't Headlines get to #2 (their highest peak) in Italy? The GH was #20 too I think? Interesting to see they never had a #1 over there despite having good peaks generally for their records.

The official chart in Italy is FIMI and Goodbye was #1.

The charts posted above was probably "Musica & Dischi".

Oh... thats strange. Might be worth going through that thread though for more information...

I though Headlines' highest peak was in Spain #2???

Just done a little research (wikipedia  ) and it says Spain and Italy both took the single to #2

Highest peaks by country according to wiki:

Wannabe #1 - Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA, Zimbabwe (lol wtf random)

Say you'll be there #1 - Finland, Scotland, UK

2 become 1 #1 - Ireland, Scotland, Spain, UK

Mama / Who do you think you are #1 - Austria, Ireland, Scotland, UK

Spice up your life #1 - Hungary, Iceland, Romania, Scotland, UK

Too much #1 - Scotland, UK

Stop #1 - Hungary

Viva forever #1 - New Zealand, Scotland, UK

Goodbye #1 - Canada, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, UK

Holler / Let love lead the way #1 - Croatia, Poland, Scotland, UK

Headlines #2 - Italy, Spain

I thought Holler was also #1 in Brazil? Or was that Forever?

And yeah spiceboy, Wikipedia is not reliable... There's lots of #1s missing from that list for instance

1million albums in Spain is absolutely crazy. I think it was like the best selling album ever in Spain from an international act?

But to be honest with you, the 'singles' market was never a think really in Portugal and Spain... I believe before iTunes came along we didnt even have singles charts and you could barely see them in record shops. It's just not a thing. People buy albums only.

So for Wannabe to sell that much is absolutely iconic

I won't hear of it not after Melanie C had multiple #1's in Spain and Portugal it's clearly one of the biggest selling singles and albums markets out there, 9 weeks at #1 for Beautiful Intentions

Bless her heart, she cant even chart since then in either country anyway :teresa: She count even sell the two live shows she did in Lisbon and Porto around that time either lol...

But Beautiful Intentions being #1 in Portugal meant around 60k albums which is HUGE in Portugal for sure! All thanks for First Day of My Life's inclusion in a local telenovela (she also included I Want Candy in one, but it floped to oblivion lol)

That film was not released anywhere other than the UK, as far as I remember...

^ IWC was not used on a TV show!
