Gaga ballads never go down well, and this is no exception. A plonky piano backing, strained vocals and forgettable lyrics, it's a real dud moment on the otherwise explosive debut. During the Swinefest, Gaga said she'd be revealing her exclusive collabs for the album and safe to say, Twista, Too Short and T.I. didn't really get the masses too enthused. But they do offer one of Gaga's most interestingly structured songs. Produced by Zedd, it's a rousing, electrifying power anthem for womanhood. With some very choice lyrics throughout and a harsh instrumental it's not hard to see why it is so revered by many, especially with a chorus that is so frantic it's almost impossible to sing along to and enjoy. Retro, Dance, Freak | 7.21 Freak: dandy, liam, haus, jonjo (10) Dance: johnkm (1) And with quite a surprisingly high average, you have named Gaga's worst ever song as Retro, Dance, Freak :') I must say this is one of the Gaga songs I know the least and when I do get to know it, it really annoys me as a song so obviously i'm not fussed at all at it being named #1 here. Having to listen back to it even now to familiarise myself with it, it features vocals that are barely sounding at all like our Stefani, lyrics that are totally devoid of passion and personality and literally nothing drawing me back for another listen. First released on the Japanese and Brazilian versions of The Fame and then on the deluxe edition of The Fame Monster, many of us probably don't even have the song available to listen to on the albums but those that do have clearly resented its inclusion.
