November 7, 20177 yr Author Up to 67 on iTunes now! Climbing very fast with no support. Not as strong as The Line but this sounds more commercial.
November 7, 20177 yr this could be her Hurtin Me then? sounds like it could take off and it's not doing badly on iTunes considering.
November 7, 20177 yr Author The Line only got to #50 with top placing on Hot Songs and 59p. Soooo catchy!
November 7, 20177 yr An Ashanti sample and multiple references to Beyoncé really does feel like she's trying to chase the early 00s revival trend. It isn't as bad as it could've been but she completely drains the life out of the hook. I did like "The Line" for a while so it's a shame that that never broke through. "You Don't Know Me" remains terrible.
November 7, 20177 yr it’s a mash together to stuff we all really know and continue to hear on a regular basis when going out...why listen to this poor mans version when you have the superior milian song, destiny’s child etc this is an utterly baffling way to launch a new artist to me; imitate a still v popular early 2000s track in a very non-description fashion and then expect people to be drawn to you?! baffling
November 9, 20177 yr Peter Robinson wrote about this; Wrong of the week: Raye — ‘Decline’ A lot of people — not least Raye herself — have worked very hard to get this artist into just the right place for a big pop moment to happen. It hasn’t really happened yet. Will it happen with ‘Decline’? If it did, it would be something of a hollow victory. It’s hard to tell if ‘Decline’, a cut-and-shut job that involves the chorus of an early 2000s hit, is the sound of everyone going hell for leather to finally make it all work, or if it’s really just the sound of everyone admitting defeat. I agree.
November 9, 20177 yr Author I think The Line was a perfect way to launch her career but it just never caught on for some reason.
November 9, 20177 yr Author What? She’s climbing fast. For at artist like her without Hot Songs, I would say it’s taking off.
November 10, 20177 yr I've heard this a lot on the radio! Can definitely seeing it being a decent running hit.
November 14, 20177 yr Author Soo close to top 40 on iTunes!! Hopefully R1 get on board, it’s track of the week atm. Heard that it’s being played a lot on Capital and Kiss?
November 15, 20177 yr I did like "The Line" for a while so it's a shame that that never broke through. "You Don't Know Me" remains terrible. The problem with 'You Don't Know Me' for me was the production, I found it boring as it was minimal.
November 15, 20177 yr Peter Robinson wrote about this; Who is this Peter Robinson you are talking about  Is he a music critic? Edited November 15, 20177 yr by The Diplomat
