What do you make of 'f*** They' then?

I've tactically avoided listening to that song :P

What I Won't Do is a great tune! I much preferred it to The City Don't Care, sorry

. JP Cooper ~ September Song
Date entered: 06/01/17
Chart sales: 422,900
Chart run: 29-27-17-18-25-27-31-44-51-55-68-x [11 weeks]

The second year that JP Cooper has made the top 150 but not the top 100 after 'Perfect Strangers' went to #116 last year, quite unlucky for him. This is a very nice tropical pop song anyway and I'm sure Pete is pleased to see it feature. Shame he went very much downhill after this.

#
. Yves V vs. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman ~ Daylight (With You)
Date entered: 10/06/16
Chart sales: 423,100
Chart run: …-x-37-41-37-17-18-20-25-29-40-52-84-x [11 weeks (12 total)]

This spent a solitary week in the bottom end of my chart as an instrumental in June of last year before returning in January as the vocal mix. The vocal doesn't add a whole lot to the song but gave the already great Spinnin prog house instrumental an extra push.

#
. Milky Chance ~ Cocoon
Date entered: 10/02/17
Chart sales: 428,700
Chart run: 69-92-100-86-57-58-77-76-69-68-72-52-63-81-x-95-81-84-x [17 weeks]

I saw this doing quite well in the Australian chart so gave it a curiosity listen and surprisingly it's very good, I kinda gave up on them after 'Stolen Dance' had been and gone. Despite the longevity though it doesn't actually count as a hit for them as it just missed my top 50!

#
. Sean Paul ~ No Lie (feat. Dua Lipa)
Date entered: 02/12/16
Chart sales: 430,100
Chart run: 77-83-59-x-78-70-66-62-55-44-45-55-61-91-97-x [14 weeks]

Shon de Pol longside Do-a Leep-a. Quite banging though Dua unironically using the word 'lit' is a bit ehh. Can we let that word die in 2018? Except for when y'know the room is lit, LITerally?

#
. Lika Morgan ~ Holding On
Date entered: 15/09/17
Chart sales: 431,300
Chart run: 83-53-19-18-20-23-44-45-30-39-34-… [11 weeks (so far)]

Chart readers may recognise Lika Morgan from last year's EOY #10 'Make Your Move' with Croatia Squad, she hasn't quite been able to get another similarly big hit but this is half as good which is still great in my view. Repping it for the female dance producers too.

#
. Bassjackers and Lucas & Steve ~ These Heights (feat. Caroline Pennell)
Date entered: 30/06/17
Chart sales: 431,500
Chart run: 30-36-28-29-28-25-31-42-50-66-x [10 weeks]

This one was a quick follow-up to Lucas & Steve's 'Up Till Dawn' which we will see a lot later here, it's very much their style and doesn't really sound like Bassjackers. Good if you're into this sort of thing.

#
. The Chainsmokers and Coldplay ~ Something Just Like This
Date entered: 24/02/17
Chart sales: 431,900
Chart run: 19-2-4-7-15-27-36-34-36-55-67-x [11 weeks]

Well this had a ridiculously quick burn rate. Think I just got a bit tired of Chainsmokers' saturation, this is admittedly a good song though just not worth its #2 peak. At least their actual crap singles are flopping which hopefully motivates them to release good music again.

#
. DJ Licious ~ I Can't Stop
Date entered: 29/09/17
Chart sales: 435,200
Chart run: 12-9-6-6-8-11-20-32-33-… [9 weeks (so far)]

This one had a very quick start from being the follow-up to 'I Hear You Calling' but not the longevity, we'll be seeing that entry a lot higher up. In any case it's a banger and good to see DJ Licious has it in him to be consistently good.

#
. Yo Gotti and Mike Will Made-It ~ Rake It Up (feat. Nicki Minaj)
Date entered: 28/07/17
Chart sales: 437,700
Chart run: 85-56-49-55-39-43-45-50-35-38-47-48-52-85-x [14 weeks]

I didn't think anything of 'Down In The DM' but the Nicki feature here got me excited and turns out this song's a lot better. A fun bop about strippers and hoes, so your typical rap song then. Nicki's verse elevates things although did she really have to rhyme China with itself about 5 times?

#
. Tiësto and KSHMR ~ Harder (feat. Talay Riley)
Date entered: 23/06/17
Chart sales: 440,700
Chart run: 33-35-38-34-30-30-37-44-50-73-80-x [11 weeks]

Just to show how unreflective peaks are here, this one features nearly 60 places higher than KSHMR's #3 hit. And this is basically KSHMR's song because Tiësto probably had zero input into it. A bit more commercial sounding for KSHMR but it very much works.

Big Shaq *.*

Yass at Touch appearing, a superb pop song and definitely my favourite Little Mix single now

I'd say Touch is my favourite from them though recency bias helps that, Cannonball is actually one of my most played songs ever but I barely revisit it now because that was mostly from me spamming it the first week after my excitement of them winning.

Loooove Sweet Madness  Sons Of Maria had a song just miss out on my top 100 too

Man Behind The Sun is a tune too :music:

I've been listening to that Route 94 song since seeing in your chart trying to give another chance, but I'm still not loving it :(

Had a little listen to that, tis quite good but probably won't be going in my chart.

XO TOUR Llif3 is without question my fave hip hop track of the year and you're right, it was quite unique to have such a dark song impacting here.

I didn't realised you had charted that Callum Beattie song in any form, I much prefer the Low Steppa edit myself.

Sweet Madness is sublime, unsurprisingly that will be pretty high up my list.

There's quite a few hip hop tracks I preferred myself but that was good to have be a hit.

Don't think I listened to the Low Steppa version.

Yeah I expect that, top 20 I guess.

Hiya Dan!1

I'm the opposite of you where I loved Fetish and wasn't as keen on Bad Liar. I didn't really like the latter at all at first but it certainly grew on me and I found myself finally getting into it a couple of months after it was first released. "It Ain't Me" is 100% her best of the year though!!

I haven't been following weekly personal charts as much this year but I thought you might have been more of a fan of XO Tour Llif3 :o Probably one of my favourite rap hits of the year, I was really hoping it would be a top 10 smash in the UK but I can't exactly complain with the longevity it ended up having :cheer:

You often seem to be the opposite of me. Anyway 'It Ain't Me' will be appearing very high.

I tried with 'XO' a bit but never really properly loved it. It's a good song but not enough to be a major fave.

Bad Liar was very refreshing for Selena, a shame she didn't stick with that sound but her songs/artistry in general have just been all over the place lately.

Lil Uzi Vert's hit-and-miss for me too, wasn't a fan of XO TOUR Llif3 but I loooove The Way Life Goes

I'm not sure what she wants to be but I guess the dance collabs are getting her big hits so I suppose she'll stick with those.

The Way Life Goes recently made my chart but only for 3 weeks at the bottom of my top 100 so not really into it.

I've tactically avoided listening to that song :P

What I Won't Do is a great tune! I much preferred it to The City Don't Care, sorry

I guess if you don't like gratuitous swearing you won't like it lol.

Everyone seems to, but oh well.

thanks guys~

Oooooh good batch that, like them all apart from Rake It Up

These Heights is a tune  and I remember listening to Cocoon before and being surprised at how much I liked it!

Holding On is a banger too, Like Morgan never disappoints at delivering them

Rake It Up actually appearing in another EOY aside from my own !!! *.* I really wish it had taken off in the UK so more people here got to hear it and appreciate it, I honestly couldn't think of many tracks that are better party anthems. I 100% agree with you that it's miles better than Down in the DM too, that was just OK really...

I wasn't expecting to see Cocoon in another EOY either as even I had completely forgotten about it but it's a lovely little track and it had a really catchy chorus too. A shame they probably won't get another hit here after Stolen Dance because all of their follow-up singles have been really good from what I've heard

Loving this so far Dan !!! :cheer:

Here are the Songs I know:

XO Tour Llif3: in my opinion it is not a good Song, but I See why you Like it and after knowing about the subject of Depression in this song, the Song became meh for me.

Bad Liar: Decent Selena Song, better than "Fetish", but not as good as "Wolves"

"Issues": Meh for me, although I'm glad that the catastrophic Follow-Up single "Uh Huh" wasn't a hit.

. Maggie Lindemann ~ Pretty Girl (Cheat Codes and CADE Remix)
Date entered: 05/05/17
Chart sales: 443,300
Chart run: 98-86-56-33-28-31-37-43-56-64-62-76-82-99-x [14 weeks]

Well I do like a good generic dance-pop song, Cheat Codes and CADE did a good job with this remix turning an otherwise boring pop song into an upbeat anthem.

#
. Yxng Bane ~ Rihanna
Date entered: 01/09/17
Chart sales: 444,600
Chart run: 53-51-53-40-39-38-39-36-35-39-34-34-36-… [13 weeks (so far)]

I was interested as to what would come next from the people behind 'Bestie' and perhaps surprisingly it was Yxng Bane who turned out to have the better follow-up. Named after my all-time favourite singer it had a lot to live up to but what we got was a smooth jam and something Rihanna herself would probably love. This and the aforementioned 'Bestie' are amongst the best in the breaking genre of British Afro-Caribbean rap so hopefully we see more of him in 2018.

#
. Jaded ~ In The Morning
Date entered: 17/03/17
Chart sales: 452,200
Chart run: 37-28-32-39-44-48-72-91-x-58-56-65-80-x [12 weeks]

This of course won BJSC for Sam when I hosted which was fully deserved as it's one of my faves of the contest this year, though I did discover the song myself before it was confirmed. It's a proper banger and was begging to be a smash but did nothing despite Radio 1 support.

#
. Phantom Sage ~ When I'm Gone
Date entered: 01/09/17
Chart sales: 457,200
Chart run: 93-72-46-34-30-32-26-28-26-29-43-49-53-… [13 weeks (so far)]

Quite an emotional one this, I don't know for sure but it sounds like he's singing about his forthcoming death, it has that ending feel to it. This is very much in the style of Porter Robinson which I love, the drop is quite heavy but it's very melodic.

#
. Møme ~ Aloha (feat. Merryn Jeann)
Date entered: 26/02/16
Chart sales: 457,900
Chart run: …-11-12-14-49-63-26-36-36-40-47-52-91-97-x [13 weeks (30 total)]

Falling from last year's #35 we catch this at the tail end of its run. From last year...
This one I initially discovered as a BJSC entry and thought it was quite good, but it later became one of the most unlikely huge chart smashes of the year in my chart as I gave it another chance after seeing it appear in the UK Spotify top 200. Unfortunately it didn't progress there but it proved to be a real grower of a song for me eventually peaking at #3. Such a brilliant tropical house song really, a genre we've seen a lot of this year but this one is quite different to most.
#125. Drake ~ Passionfruit
Date entered: 24/03/17
Chart sales: 458,100
Chart run: 7-7-8-15-11-8-10-22-48-70-72-83-x [12 weeks]

This was an instant favourite of the album alongside 'Get It Together' so I was glad to see it got chosen as the single, this kind of song is what Drake is best at though my only criticism is the overly long intro is quite unnecessary.

#
. Galantis ~ Hunter
Date entered: 12/05/17
Chart sales: 461,200
Chart run: 14-33-43-47-55-53-57-54-58-61-74-x [11 weeks]

Something a bit different for them but it works, sadly it wasn't enough to bring them back to relevance which I fear they'll never get again here.

#123. Bip Ling and Ice ~ Buff Girlz (feat. Mooch)
Date entered: 16/06/17
Chart sales: 467,800
Chart run: 36-24-20-26-25-28-34-40-51-63-86-x [11 weeks]

Very much a trashy dance song but it's fun and is surprisingly well produced by Big Ling's standards, sounds like something that could be a club hit if the vocal wasn't so novelty.

#
. Kygo and Ellie Goulding ~ First Time
Date entered: 05/05/17
Chart sales: 471,700
Chart run: 17-11-11-15-16-21-31-42-70-84-96-x [11 weeks]

The drop in this could've been much better, but otherwise this is brilliant and gets a bit too much hate here. I can't pretend that it's near the level of 'It Ain't Me' or some of Kygo's other songs though.

#
. The Weeknd ~ Starboy (feat. Daft Punk)
Date entered: 30/09/17
Chart sales: 473,800
Chart run: …-10-22-30-81-73-42-46-48-56-60-76-63-72-97-x [14 weeks (23 total)]

A bit unlucky for this, getting caught between the years it was #101 last time. Brilliant tune and I'd say it's The Weeknd's best, just edging away from 'The Hills'. You all know it anyway so I needn't explain more.

Yeah I didn't think Milky Chance had it in them but Cocoon is great.

Another Lika Morgan fan woo! Think I might send her to BJSC sometime next year to give her the justice she deserves for 'Make Your Move' nearly finishing last, if the right song comes along.

Rake It Up actually appearing in another EOY aside from my own !!! *.* I really wish it had taken off in the UK so more people here got to hear it and appreciate it, I honestly couldn't think of many tracks that are better party anthems. Loving this so far Dan !!! :cheer:

It's a choon! Surprised it didn't cross over even a little bit, usually the US rap hits do.

I'll have to keep them on my radar then.

I'd say Wolves is better too though that will have to wait for next year's chart.

'Uh Huh' was awful, what a way to kill all the momentum she had, though I suppose 'I Miss You' doing well could give her another chance with her solo material.

thanks guys~

That Pretty Girl remix is such a tune it's so basic but it works

Aloha is SO good too, if I had a chart last year it probs would have been a multi-week number 1 for me  even though there was a lot of similar stuff out at the time it really stood out to me for some reason, wish it could have been a hit :(

I did expect a little more from Hunter since it was the first track I wasn't fully on board with, the two singles that came after were even worse though :(

I heard Buff Girlz on your Youtube video - that was certainly an earworm, had to stop myself from singing it :P

Hello Dan

For a track that I didn't like at first, I was shocked at how much Pretty Girl ended up growing on me! I couldn't look past the cheesy lyrics at first but the more I heard it, the more it grew, and now I'd say it's one of my favourite tracks of the year. Ridiculously catchy and the dance remix makes it even better.

In the Morning is such a banger! I really thought the R1 play listing as going to be the start of taking off really rapidly so I was gutted when nothing happened for it charts wise. I'd love to hear it out and about but I guess it's already a bit forgotten

. Sigala and Digital Farm Animals ~ Only One
Date entered: 09/12/16
Chart sales: 480,200
Chart run: 86-48-70-55-24-33-34-39-39-36-36-61-81-90-x [14 weeks]

Not regarded as one of Sigala's best and it is below average by his standards but still a fun tune, and a good imitation of Galantis. Never been fussed on Digital Farm Animals though, I've yet to love a song of his other than those where he's with another producer.

#
. Avicii ~ You Be Love (feat. Billy Raffoul)
Date entered: 18/08/17
Chart sales: 480,600
Chart run: 4-4-6-12-14-22-32-57-92-x [9 weeks]

Not all of Avicii's EP will appear in the top 100 as this becomes the first song of his to drop out. Originally debuting at #4 behind three other Avicii tracks of course this eventually became my least favourite on the EP, but it being Avicii of course the quality is very high. It would fit very well with the Stories album so check it out if you like that.

#
. Pep & Rash ~ Echo (feat. Polina)
Date entered: 11/11/16
Chart sales: 481,300
Chart run: …-12-11-13-38-61-27-39-42-52-52-51-59-83-x [13 weeks (16 total)]

Pep & Rash still have it in them to give us a bop every now and then, here is one. Nice vocal too.

#
. Lady Gaga ~ The Cure
Date entered: 21/04/17
Chart sales: 484,500
Chart run: 30-9-9-15-20-23-33-45-56-70-x-96-x [11 weeks]

Lady Gaga gave us an unexpected standalone single which just so happened to be much better than anything from the messy Joanne era so I hope this is an indication of the direction she is going in for her next album.

#
. The Chainsmokers ~ Paris (feat. Emily Warren)
Date entered: 20/01/17
Chart sales: 485,500
Chart run: 13-8-8-11-13-14-14-18-31-57-84-88-73-81-97-x [15 weeks]

This was the start of them really going down the pop direction, and it really worked for them (at first anyway, shame about certain later flop singles cough Honest), really lifted by Emily Warren's backing vocals too. I'll excuse the weird pronunciation of 'parents' when this is actually quite unique for them, and as a chart hit.

#
. deadmau5 ~ Let Go (feat. grabbitz)
Date entered: 25/11/16
Chart sales: 486,400
Chart run: …-34-34-18-64-82-32-40-44-57-53-73-66-74-73-82-76-x [16 weeks (17 total)]

As the lead single from last year's album I was excited to hear this, and it is quite standard for deadmau5 but his production is undeniably brilliant and it works especially well with a vocal so it's a shame that this was the only vocal track on the album.

#
. Gromee ~ Spirit (feat. Mahan Moin)
Date entered: 03/03/17
Chart sales: 492,000
Chart run: 87-49-33-27-31-38-43-45-49-54-44-53-72-85-95-x [15 weeks]

This one discovered from Cody on plug and subsequently BJSC is a great Eurodance song, quite similar to Mahmut Orhan though this just edges over his 'Save Me' for me. More Eastern European dance bops please (Gromee is Polish which is either Eastern or Central depending who you ask though).

#113. Kstewart ~ Hands (feat. Yungen)
Date entered: 16/06/17
Chart sales: 493,800
Chart run: 89-84-68-83-90-82-80-79-87-83-93-83-80-76-76-86-82-72-65-72-78-77-90-x [23 weeks]

Another BJSC entry, surprisingly this one's from Joseph though I discovered it myself before it was sent. It is also the highest song in this countdown that is not a top 50 hit, and the fourth-highest to miss the top 40. It's a fun pop bop with a Drake and X-Factor referencing verse from Yungen which just refused to grow off me for the longest time.

#
. Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa ~ Scared To Be Lonely
Date entered: 03/02/17
Chart sales: 496,500
Chart run: 16-4-10-9-12-16-30-56-75-65-51-53-87-95-x [14 weeks]

Following up the great 'In The Name..' (#29 on last year's list) Martin decided to keep doing future bass. Personally I'd prefer him to go back to just progressive/big room house especially as subsequent commercial releases weren't that great, but I can't deny the quality of 'Scared'. The strings are a nice addition and Dua is one the best pop vocalists we have in the chart at the moment.

#
. Stormzy ~ Big For Your Boots
Date entered: 24/02/17
Chart sales: 499,500
Chart run: 68-35-25-15-21-26-28-25-26-35-40-58-76-x [13 weeks]

Or should that be BIG FOR YOUR BEWTS? Following a few months absence this was the perfect way to come back and announce your debut album, with an aggressive in-yer-face anthem. Him getting an instant top ten hit with a pure grime song was very impressive to watch and perhaps led the way for the likes of J Hus to break through.

We all like a good basic tune.

Yeah it certainly was unique amongst the other Spotify friendly tropical house.

I did expect a little more from Hunter since it was the first track I wasn't fully on board with, the two singles that came after were even worse though :(

I heard Buff Girlz on your Youtube video - that was certainly an earworm, had to stop myself from singing it :P

Hunter surprised me quite a bit, I think that's why it got such a high debut but ultimately it wasn't that brilliant.

It's a bit of a banger

The lyrics aren't the strong point but such a banging beat, catchy as you say.

Yeah well I guess R1 B-listing can only get you so far, without any Spotify or Capital playlisting.

thanks guys~

Only One was a great song, will have to agree his 3 previous Top 10s were much better though!

I really liked DFA on Wanna Know (more the version without R Kelly but oh well) but he was barely recognisable on the Louis track :(

Yeah I liked 'Wanna Know' quite a bit, though that was DFA and Youthonix as producers so my point still stands! 'Back To You' was awful, and not dancey in the slightest, I hope that's not the direction DFA is going in. His 'Digital Love' I liked for a few weeks but wouldn't go back to now, it's not that good.

Here are the songs I know at the moment:

Big For Your Boots: Nice comeback single for Stormzy, this song won me over for Stormzy.

Scared To Be Lonely: A Great collaboration from these two artists and I definitly agree with you on Dua Lipa being one of the best pop vocalists at the moment!

Paris: Good song, one of my favourites from one of the worst albums of 2017.

You Be Love: Not one of my favourites from Avicii's new EP, but still decent.

Only One: Nice song, not Sigala's best though.

Edited by sergejdordij98

Echo is a tune :music: I wish Pep & Rash we’re more consistent in quality tho

I really love Scared To Be Lonely too, it’s probs my favourite out of his future bass ones

DJ Khaled had quite a good year with two songs yet to come as well as this album track which Calvin Harris produced for him and would fit very well on his own album. Couldn't be bothered with the rest of Khaled's album though.

Perhaps foreshadowing the 'true disaster' of her Lady Wood/Blue Lips era, this is proof that Tove Lo still has it in her to write a great pop track but sadly her momentum was killed before this had a chance to do anything.

. Felon ~ Hide & Seek (VIP Edit)
Date entered: 01/09/17
Chart sales: 507,000
Chart run: 51-32-25-28-35-37-38-35-38-43-38-46-47-… [13 weeks (so far)]

A banging house re-working of Imogen Heap's 'Watcha Say' chorus, of course I was going to love this.

. Post Malone ~ rockstar (feat. 21 Savage)
Date entered: 22/09/17
Chart sales: 523,100
Chart run: 12-7-3-3-3-4-5-4-4-4-… [10 weeks (so far)]

Not being fussed with 'Congratulations', this surprised me with just how good it was, no wonder it just about instantly topped charts all over the world. Trap at its absolute best, hook is ridiculously catchy.

. Marcapasos ~ Aicha
Date entered: 06/01/17
Chart sales: 528,900
Chart run: 39-26-26-25-23-14-17-22-21-21-26-42-60-64-64-77-x [16 weeks]

Something I found myself at the start of the year, it's very 2014 European house but that's a sound I still love.

#
. Axwell /\ Ingrosso ~ More Than You Know
Date entered: 02/06/17
Chart sales: 534,400
Chart run: 67-71-67-41-42-53-54-58-64-76-86-75-47-54-53-55-62-79-x [18 weeks]

So yeah they surprised me this year by actually getting their biggest hit to date yet as a duo, I didn't think they had it in them after recent singles underperformed. This is great though, fits into trends well but not in a sell-out way (thankfully they didn't do future bass). Still waiting on that SHM reunion (that probably won't happen) but at least we have this for now, hopefully next year they can build on this momentum.

#
. BUNT. ~ Take Me Home (feat. Alexander Tidebrink)
Date entered: 25/08/17
Chart sales: 541,500
Chart run: 53-44-47-29-20-17-13-12-12-14-24-32-47-65-… [14 weeks (so far)]

Hungry for more Avicii sounding material I came across BUNT. who are inspired by Avicii's folk house hits and release bangers you could easily mistake for Avicii himself. This one is well worth a listen if you like 'Hey Brother'.

#
. Shakira ~ Chantaje (feat. Maluma)
Date entered: 16/12/16
Chart sales: 542,400
Chart run: 91-x-51-60-52-58-54-38-33-35-41-29-34-51-64-60-56-66-x [17 weeks]

Well a Shakira comeback in this chart is something I wasn't expecting but 'Chantaje' blew expectations despite being fully in Spanish, and this was before the UK chart trend too. This easily could've been a hit too if they did a Spanglish version.

#
. Cheat Codes ~ No Promises (feat. Demi Lovato)
Date entered: 07/04/17
Chart sales: 544,700
Chart run: 70-80-51-57-46-42-43-47-43-53-55-62-73-68-68-x [15 weeks]

Part one of this year's Demi Lovato in non-shet song shocker. She has most of the vocal here but it's great. A big step up from 'Let Me Hold You' for Cheat Codes too, good to have something more up tempo from them especially at a time when future bass was getting oversaturated and boring.

#
. Migos ~ Bad and Boujee (feat. Lil Uzi Vert)
Date entered: 06/01/17
Chart sales: 545,800
Chart run: 38-34-35-34-35-22-29-32-28-34-41-71-67-66-67-71-59-57-x [18 weeks]

Migos really owned 2017 and right from the start too with 'Bad And Boujee' showcasing Offset's flow, who is the clear standout of Migos for me even if Quavo has the most popularity through the mass number of features he's done.

It was 'Shut Up' that did it for me, by far his best effort.

Yeah it's good to see Dua becoming as big as she is now.

Shame the album wasn't up to much.

Yeah I love it but I love the other EP tracks even more.

Sigala can do better, we'll see him again later on.

Echo is a tune :music: I wish Pep & Rash we’re more consistent in quality tho

I really love Scared To Be Lonely too, it’s probs my favourite out of his future bass ones

Yeah they've been a bit hit and miss recently.

I'd put 'In The Name Of Love' well above it personally.

thanks guys~
