January 5, 20187 yr COURTNEY'S BUSSY SLIP OMG LMAOOOOOO. I think she is gonna be GOLD, she is a total sweetheart and a real laugh but won't take any shit, she is definitely going to decimate India for her ridiculous comments on drag queens. She's exactly the kind of housemate we need because she'll tell it like it is but without being nasty or too much about it. I like the male line up tbh, a lot more than I expected to! The ones I was worried about (Jonny, Andrew and Daniel/Dapper Laughs) didn't seem as bad I thought, Jonny is definitely my least favourite though and is just pretty bland and identikit. Andrew is BEYOND hot (I'll spoon you hun) and seemed a bit of a laugh and nice enough and Daniel I think has probably had his fill of being an idiot and the controversy and is probably in there to show how he really is and get a redemption arc sort of thing. I'm v tempted to bet on him already as i can so him being given way too much credit for just being ok and coasting to the win  I'd be lying if i said I was totally enthralled by Wayne or Ginuwine, they'll probably be early boots, but all of them bring something different the house doesn't already have which I love. I'm surprised by how much I like Shane, id if I just expect boyband members to be boring coasters like Abz but I wasn't expecting him to be so instantly charismatic, likeable and enlightening. Same with John, he reminds me of a nice uncle who'd be everyone's favourite at Christmas  This is one of only about 3 times on C5 absolute maximum I've felt REALLY excited by a line-up and that a series would be brilliant. Everyone seems to bring something different and pretty much all of them have some value to things going on, even if I don't like them I can pick out what they'll bring or what I'm interesting in seeing them bring. Like I said, the ones I was really worried about don't seem to be that bad, I can't see Daniel or Jonny having the oomph (for want of a better term, I'm too tired x) to be series ruining villians, at best Jonny might have a dull barely there romance with Jess or Ashley. With the Amanda/India thing, I totally get why India would be annoyed. She's been referred to as a woman the whole time she's been in the house so I'm not sure why people have referred to her as 'he'? It shows the kind of thing transgender people or those undertaking gender reassignment have to go through as this definitely happens in day to day life too. Obviously, it's a subject very close to India's heart - however I don't think Amanda meant it in an insulting way, it's like she just simply... forgot, or just didn't think, and the whole situation went on for longer than it could've, Amanda obviously felt awful. Courtney X's dress moment *.* This is exactly how I feel, nobody can tell India how to feel or how to take being misgendered and it is a blatant disregard of one of the most fundamental human rights of having an identity and being allowed to present as and be respected for it, but Amanda very very clearly did not mean it in any insulting way, as she said she's in her 80s, she confuses pronouns and words all the time for whoever else it is. I just think it's unfortunate that it lined up with something raw and personal to India. She of course has the right to feel offended, upset and hurt but it would help her so much more if she reacted by just saying "erm it's she can you not" and calmly explaining, I get that things are bad in the heat of the moment but when there'd been a bit of time to cool down and Amanda kept apologising she could not do anymore but India still just kept on and on and that's why I struggle to fully have sympathy for and side with her.
January 6, 20187 yr I agree Liam. What exactly did India want to happen? If an apology isn’t good enough, what did she want? Amanda’s clearly not being malicious and just got a little confused. She laughed because she realised her mistake and was hoping to cover it up with humour, which is her MO, but India going for her like that will do her no favours and it will work more in Amanda’s favour. For me, India is playing right into the hands of those that ridicule or fail to understand transgender people and is working against all the work she’s put in to educating people. Even those that are most understanding and supportive are literally facepalming every time she speaks because of her constant woe is me act. She thinks her story will sell her but the way she’s telling it makes her too defensive and it’s offputting.
January 6, 20187 yr I just don't see me ever tiring of this, not Courtney creating what I imagine will remain one of my top reality TV moments of 2017 five days in  emSCqDp_-M4
January 6, 20187 yr This is one of the best overall casts they've had in ageees for a Celebrity Big Brother, I feel they've actually thought about the mixture for once rather than just picking individual housemates. Certainly feels faaaaaaaaaaar less trashy and I'm so here for it. Like I'm ginuwinely (:basil:) excited to see the next few days and how the boys mix in, particularly the reactions to Courtney and how the whole thing with tryhard India develops. Definitely not here for Dapper Laughs though, why is he pretending that he thinks the character is horrendous and he doesn't want to be known for it even though he's still been doing that character up until like yesterday?? OH YES, for the journey! As I said before, Andrew was by far my least favourite on The Apprentice last year so f***s sake at that, especially when he wasn't even a standout from a year of standouts. Don't know what a Jonny from Love Island is but he's apparently hated. It is so odd that they've validating the show that is killing their show but if you can't beat them, join them? I guess Love Island is far bigger than all the MTV shows they try to plug with housemates too. I really do feel like a man is going to win though, I really can't pick a specific winner at this stage though! I feel it's so much more wide open than usual.
January 6, 20187 yr i'll go as far as predict an all-male top 3 :') Edited January 6, 20187 yr by ionderella
January 6, 20187 yr I'm just not gonna really worry about ratings, I think CBB will be fine they just might cut it back. I'm not that fussed if they did that tbh because the summer one hasn't been good since like 2013, they might be better off putting the budget of both into the Jan series, but idk if that would work to get bigger names anyway as the reputation of the show is in the pits. It's just the budget compared to ratings that makes me worried for the future of the show as they can get like 1.5-2m for some of their random documentaries which I'm sure don't cost them nearly as much. It is kind of past its best but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be gutted if they axed it. Yeah I am thinking a male winner too, Shane (Lynch, not Courtney Act sadly) or Daniel/Dapper Laugh stand out to me but obviously we'll see I guess. Too early to tell ofc but at least there doesn't seem to be a horrific Bear/Gary type of character who'll dominate the series and win, I can maybe see a repeat of 2016 where there were huge characters like Gemma, Stephnaie, Megan and ofc Tiffany but one of the most nothingy people won. I do like Shane a lot so far but I can't see him being a huge standout character or anything.
January 6, 20187 yr 1.45m last night Awful considering it was pretty much a relaunch Omg, BARB made a mistake with these ratings! Ratings were 1.6M, up 100k on the equivalent show last January
January 6, 20187 yr India is really failing to realise that her horrific personality and standoffish tendencies are the problem, not her gender identity  Everything has to be an issue and she's always above everyone, she cannot sit there on her pedestal above the LGBT community when the whole community as a movement is the very reason she is able to be on TV and be herself... It is just so self absorbed, she as a transgender woman is not the only person with issues to faces and struggles to overcome. People wil and can sympathise with her story but not everything has to be about it, and she won't support or understand anyone else she can't expect unyielding dedication to her cause from everyone else? For example with the older housemates, being an older women in itself is an interesting viewpoint that comes with its own stories and yet she's harping on about how age doesn't mean you should be given special treatment, yet she seems to think being transgender affords her so many special passes to everything. Like I said, it's her personality and nothing to do with her being trans that means she's having all these issues, yet never does she actually consider that. On a more positive note, Malika, Courtney and Shane really shone in that episode! Malika nailed India with her victim comment, does anyone else think she could do a Tiffany Pollard? She seems so articulate, refined and likeable. Shane was really sweet too when he asked Courtney about pronouns etc., that's the exactly the way to deal with that stuff if you just don't know and aren't aware because you've never been exposed to it, he seems such a gent. Courtney is of course continuing to be an absolute icon, "hes straight but so's spaghetti til you boil it" She's just so hilarious and a really warm personality, and one of those who will drag you if you do anything wrong but will stand up for you if you needed it.
January 6, 20187 yr Author You just KNOW India's gonna be all "it's because I'm trans" when she's evicted :puke2: Have only just caught up on Friday's show but the guys (outside of Dapper Laughs and Jonny) came across really well! Shane seems like a lovely guy and a potential winner.
January 6, 20187 yr Yeah India is actually horrific. If someone came up to me and said they had a phobia of Bi men, I would seriously be offended  cannot believe she said that to Courtney.
January 6, 20187 yr I know it’s only the first night so things can definitely change but no one seems to be having a problem/difficulty in getting it right with Courtney yet you could say that’s more difficult for people to get their heads round! The more India makes it an issue, the more people think about and are conscious about it and aren’t acting naturally around her. I feel everyone was immediately natural around Courtney but they’re not anymore around India. I agree about Malika, she’s coming across brilliantly! Hopefully she gets more airtime to build up a fanbase. Also, Daniel immediately showing Dapper isn’t a character!!
January 6, 20187 yr Yeah India is actually horrific. If someone came up to me and said they had a phobia of Bi men, I would seriously be offended  cannot believe she said that to Courtney. Also yes, imagine if someone said they were transphobic to India?? She would be absolutely furious. Should it be more serious than saying you are dragphobic, if you were saying both in a jokey way?
January 6, 20187 yr She said that? Grim. No, she said she had a phobia of drag queens. Two completely different things. :D
January 6, 20187 yr She said that? Grim. Ohh no sorry, replace Bi with ‘phobia of drag queens. I was just kinda saying that if someone told me that they were scared of Bi people then I wouldn’t be happy
January 7, 20187 yr Courtney reacted to that admirably, I know it's not the same as being transphobic but imagine waltzing up to someone and saying that you are "scared" of who they are, be it something as silly as how they dress or something bigger like their sexuality or gender identity? :/ Of course being a drag queen is a choice and a lifestyle, but it's a huge part of who Shane is, Courtney is an extension of him and his place in the LGBT community. And actually, I've seen a lot of drag queens say that their personas and characters are kind of a way to cope with loneliness, anxiety, depression etc. - it's easier to (literally) put on a face and be someone else for a bit and get that confidence. Plus it's a talent and not just something that a few gay guys do to disparage the trans community by wearing a ball gown and OTT makeup. You can't preach about being accepted for who you are, wanting to be accepted as a woman, and proceed to disparage fellow members of the LGBT community. It's almost like she is the only viable minority, as if i's a competition "you're persecuted too but it doesn't matter because I'm more persecuted as a trans person" :drama: God, every post I make in here is about India or partly so but I'm finding this whole situation fascinating as a psychology and sociology student  Particularly the latter in that so far this series has been largely about how all these different labels can change the way people view you, the way they interact with you, the way you interact with them, and the general experiences you have, and obviously that's not exclusive to India, it's been fascinating to see the experiences and views of all these different women and now you've got the male viewpoints too. I hope they maybe do another thing like the first nigh debate with the cue cards now the men are in, except with stuff like "should men wear make up?" "do you think men should be able to show their emotions?", because there's equal potential for debate with male viewpoints.
