Sergej's Year-End Countdown Lists 2017

I'm doing my charts for 2 years online, starting on Crownnote. And even longer personally since 2006.
I'm thinking this year to do my Year-End lists at the end of the year, but I realise, screw it, I'm making it right now.

Welcome to my Year-End Countdown Lists of 2017!

Sorry for not making it epic, with pictures and gifs. But I'm saving it for my lists (aka I don't know, how I can add them, cause I'm kinda lazy). I hope you can understand me.

Here are my lists that I will do:
1. Worst Songs of 2017 from my personal opinions
2. My Top 10 Artists to watch out in 2018 (in my chart, aka Sergej's Discoveries in 2018)
3. My Top 10 Artists of 2017
4. My Top 50 Albums of 2017
And finally, the big one: My Top 250 songs of the year based on my charts.

Just a heads up, I looked into other Year-End lists from Buzzjack members and wanted to do something likewise too! So I hope you enjoy it!
Also, if you don't disagree with some of my choices, that's great, it's just my personal silly opinion and year-end list. And I will take all of your suggestions for music (songs and albums).

I'll start calculating my chart and tomorrow, my worst songs of 2017 will begin!
See you tomorrow!

Alright, if I want to have some positivity, I need to focus first on the worst.

And while this year was decent for me musicwise, there are still songs that I hate.

Also, this is my opinion and it's separated from my charts, that meaning if I hate a song, that will not change the impact of the songs in my chart. And if you like the song in question, that's great, it's just my personal opinion and I'm glad that you like the song, for me, opinion are a great thing.

Finally, I must have to hear the song from start to finish, if I didn't, it will not be mentioned on the list.

But before I talk about my worst songs of 2017, here are my worst songs of 2016:

1. Meghan Trainor - Me Too

2. Iggy Azalea - Team

3. Fifth Harmony - Work From Home (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)

4. Meghan Trainor - NO

5. Charlie Puth - One Call Away

6. Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better

7. Gnash - I Hate U, I Love U (feat. Olivia O'Brien)

8. Chris Brown - Back To Sleep

9. Kent Jones - Don't Mind

10. Maroon 5 - Don't Wanna Know (feat. Kendrick Lamar)

MY HALL OF SHAME:

2010: Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah (feat. 3OH3)

2011: LMFAO - Sexy & I Know It

2012: Justin Bieber - As Long As You Love Me (feat. Big Sean)

2013: Lil Wayne - Love Me (feat. Drake & Future)

2014: Katy Perry - This Is How We Do

2015: Meghan Trainor - Dear Future Husband

2016: Meghan Trainor - Me Too

My contenders for 2017 worst list:

The worst country song I've ever heard

A controversial entry...

"Rap" artists

"Trap" artists

The failed follow-up to a big hit

Okay, let's get the worst out of the way.

Here is MY WORST SONGS OF 2017 IN MY OPINION

But first some DIShonorable mentions:

Lil Uzi Vert - XO Tour Llif3

Almost made the list, if there weren't other bad worse songs from worse artists, that being said, I still don't like the song, the repitition of the line "Push me to the edge, all my friends are dead", the production and the lyrics are really bad, but still, it could get worse.

Kay One feat. Pietro Lombardi - Senorita

aka: The German Rip-Off of Despacito, we let this trash to #1, both artists aren't very good and the production is basically "Despacito", it's the same production. You all are lucky that you haven't heard it, because it's bad.

Chris & Kem - Little Bit Leave It

From what I've said, it's really trash, but I have the blessing, to not hear this from start to finish.

Jake Paul

If I heard one of his stupid songs, he would be #1, without a question, but I haven't heard his songs from start to finish, because I actually am smart enough to skip them.

Sam Hunt - Drinkin' Too Much

I hate Sam Hunt officially and I question myself, why I liked "Take Your Time" in 2015, also again I haven't heard this song from start to finish, because it wasn't very popular, unlike that other Sam Hunt song (yeah, we'll get to it soon enough)

10. The Chainsmokers - Break Up Every Night

The album "Memories... Do Not Open" was not such a great album for me, The Chainsmokers made 4 songs that I like from this album: Paris, It Won't Kill Ya (with Jhené Aiko) and my favourite: Something Just Like This (with Coldplay).

However, the rest was ranging from passable to just godawful. I had to choose between 2 songs: "Break Up Every Night" or "Honest".

I went back and forth and ultimately decided that "Break Up Every Night" is worst than "Honest"

For me, "Honest" at least wasn't as tidious and frustrating as "Break Up Every Night", at first, I didn't mind it, but with more listebs and lyrical research, I have to say that "Break Up Every Night" is the second worst song The Chainsmokers ever made, right behind "#selfie".

The Production annoyed me, the vocals annoyed me, but most of all, the goddamn lyrics.

Especially the infamous line "She wants to break up every night, then tries to f*** me back to life". HOW CAN YOU "f***" SOMEONE BACK TO LIFE?

Everytime I hear this line, I want to punch Taggert in the face. But at least, it isn't very bad as the rest of the list.

Hopefully The Chainsmokers will be irrelevant in 2018!

9. Playboy Carti - Magnolia

What is this, no really what is this?

This is one of those "rap songs" in 2017, that I like to call Trap rap.

First of all, what kind of name is Playboy Carti? Oh wait, it's like a hipster person would come up for rap names and decides that this would be a good name.

I think it's annoying.

What else is annoying, the lyrics about selling and hiding drugs, bragging and shooting at the cops and especially the repetitive "What" in the background repeated at nauseum.

At least the production is passable.

But at least, it's not like other songs that are miles worse than this, like "Gucci Gang" and "Tunnel Vision", both songs which will be higher on my list.

8. Train - Play That Song

Train, a band who sucked in 2010, who sucked in 2012 and now made a comeback, guess what? They still suck.

I hated this from the very start, where they not only sampled the beat from "Heart And Soul" by Hoagy Carmichael, but the lyrics are just stupid.

He wants the DJ to play the song that made him go all night long? If I was the DJ, I would play other better songs than this!

Also the production and instrumentation is garbage.

But at least it isn't as bad as "Hey, Soul Sister" or "Drive By".

7. Rae Sremmurd - Swang

This was like "Magnolia" famous in America, so people might not heard it yet.

But still, just because "Black Beatles" was a big hit for them and in my opinion pretty decent, why do we let Rae Sremmurd have another hit?

It is really annoying, the synths are grating to my nerves, the lyrics are crap and the vocal performances are screechingly annoying, mainly from Swae Lee.

Thank god, "Unforgettable" was good for Swae Lee, because the upper falsetto from him was ear bleeding to me.

Glad that this wasn't popular in other countries.

6. Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall - Juju On That Beat

What is it to say, that other people didn't said before?

It's annoying, it's repetitive, it's a goddamn dance challenge and it's made by nobodies that went popular by Vine.

In this song they call the listener ugly, it has also the worst introduction to a song in this year, with the old lady voice and the chipmunk voice effect.

Oh and the production, it was stolen from an 2000s rap song.

And it's another Trap song, joy.

I'll hope that in 2018 we won't have other vine hit songs, please do not let more of this happen!

Break Up Every Night: Haven't heard it. In fact, I haven't heard Chainsmokers' new album but I'm not very fond of the group members' vocals. They don't interest me. I thought they were okay in Closer, but by the time I listened to All We Know and Paris, I was a bit bored in a way. I like Something Just Like This, Don't Let Me Down, ROSES and guilty pleasure #SELFIE. Update: I forgot to put their collab with Tiesto on the Chainsmokers songs I like "Split (Only U)"

Magnolia: "In New York, I milly rock. Hide it in my sock".

Play That Song. 'Eh. Drink Up was a better song by them from this year.

Swang: Haven't heard it in full but I kept seeing it pop up on Worst Songs of 2017 videos on YouTube. That falsetto did make me LOL a bit though, with the "hot top drop top". I like Unforgettable (I keep dancing to it whenever it comes up on Try Not To Dance videos). The first song by them I remember hearing is No Type back in November 2014. The following month I remember seeing ADoseOfBuckley add No Flex Zone to his Worst Songs of 2014 video.

Juju On That Beat: Eh. It was a guilty pleasure for me at some point. Haven't heard it in months though. BTW, wasn't that at its peak in late 2016.

Also, I see Jake in your dishonorable mentions.

Speaking of which, did you know that he released an Xmas EP. There's even an alternate version of It's Everyday Bro rewritten with Christmas lyrics. It's known as "It's Christmas Day Bro"

I saw ARTV's reaction video of it and he really didn't like it. He stopped halfway through It's Christmas Day Bro

As much as I love The Chainsmokers I have to agree with you that Break Up Every Night really is terrible, although Last Day Alive is Far worse...

Don't recall that Chainsmokers song so I must've not thought much of it. They seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth recently though, hopefully they can come back with a great song soon but I am losing hope.

I like 'Magnolia' but it's easy to see why it didn't get a great reaction here, very much the sort of song only the US would "get".

'Play That Song' is awful as is 'Juju On That Beat' (which I think I gave a dishonourable mention to last year at least, one of the worst rap songs in recent memory). I haven't properly sat through 'Swang' as it sounded quite boring from the preview on the US chart recaps, no surprise that wasn't a UK hit really.

Thank you for the comments!

I like your opinions on the songs that I hate.

Also, yes I know that he released an Xmas EP, I really wish he hadn't do that! Also never heard the alternate version of It's Everyday Bro or Litmas, because I have other better things to listen than this.

Thank you for the comment Dan!

I hope that The Chainsmokers can have a great song soon, but I doubt it,

also I like the opinions on each song expect for "Break Up Every Night".

5. Katy Perry - Bon Appétit (feat. Migos)

"Chained To The Rhythm" is not on the list, because in my opinion, this was worse. For me, Chained To The Rhythm's production was really catchy.

While the instrumentation on "Bon Appétit" is barely passable for me, the lyrics on the other hand are just... why?

First of all, remember "Carry Out" by Timbaland & Justin Timberlake, because just like this song, "Bon Appétit" uses all measures of food double entendres and they try to make it look sexy!

The chorus is really crap, because it has lines like "Got me spread like a buffet" or "Appetite for seduction, Fresh out the oven", remember they try to make it look "sexy", really Katy?

But, if you thought Katy was bad on this track, well Migos then jumps in for a verse, where I just gave up.

Because on their verse, Quavo first verse is where "sweet potato pie" is slanged for vagina and Offset says that he wants to "grab her legs and now divide" them, what the hell, no really WHAT THE HELL?

This song is absolute garbage, "Swish Swish" was much better than this song, heck I even take "Chained To The Rhythm" over this disgusting piece of puke.

4. Kodak Black - Tunnel Vision

First of all, SCREW KODAK BLACK!

Second of all, why of all things did this reach the Top 10 in the United States?

Because "Tunnel Vision" is the 2nd worst song from a rapper in 2017 and I'll tell you what the worst rap song of this year is soon enough.

But let's start on why I hate this piece of cancer to begin with,

First of all, I goddamn hate the music video, it is the only music video where I just couldn't watch 3 minutes of this crap.

Now, to the song itself, I hate the production, Kodak Black's performance and most of all the lyrics, filled with brag rapping with a lazy flow.

Also the line "I get any girl I want, any girl I want", which originally was going to be "I get any girl I want, I don't gonna rape", the original lyrics which isn't releated to Kodak Black, because he wasn't alleged to sexual assault charges... oh wait, he was indicted to sexual assault charges!

Also he wants to focus on his goals and not land in prison, but I wish he went and stayed in prison, because I never want to hear his voice and his songs ever again!

I'll take Migos, Cardi B, Lil Yachty and even Lil Uzi Vert over Kodak Black any day of the week.

This song can bite me.

3. Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do

I HATE THIS SONG SO MUCH!

Now again, if you like this song, great to you, I'm not calling you an idiot or a dumbass for liking it.

But for me, it started ok, then it became good, then it was meh and finally I couldn't stand it with every single listen.

First of all, it started alright, then Taylor started signing and it went downhill until the pre-chorus.

The Pre-chorus was one of the only positive things that I praise this song, then the chorus happens and wow, WOW!

The chorus destroyed every single enjoyment I had for this song, as soon as I heard the chorus, I paused the song and screamed on top of my lungs, how much this sucked!

Also "The old taylor is dead" meme has not made this song better, in fact it made it even worse!

However, the other singles from "reputation" aren't as awful as this, ...Ready For It (Good), Gorgeous (Decent), Call It What You Want (Decent) and the other tracks are ranging from good to meh.

But "Look What You Made Me Do" is by far, the worst Taylor Swift song I've ever heard.

And the best thing about it? It's only #3, there are 2 songs worse than this and as much as I hate LWYMMD, the last 2 songs made me even more angry.

P.S. I'm sorry for any Taylor Swift fans, who like this song, please don't kill me!

Edited by sergejdordij98

YES for a mutual disliking of LWYMMD :cheer: Terrible song.

Kodak Black is one of the worst big US rappers at the moment too, I haven't liked a single song of his but he's not offensive enough to land in my hate chart either. 'Tunnel Vision' making the US top 10 was a bit WTF but I suppose he is really popular there now for whatever reason.

2. Lil Pump - Gucci Gang

This is the worst rap song and Soundcloud rap song of 2017.

It's repetative, annoying and it's dumb, very dumb.

Everytime I listen to this song, my IQ points went 10 points down.

I mean what it is there to say, the chorus is just "Gucci Gang" repeated over and over and over again, with other lyrics.

While in the verses, he brags about taking meth, screwing his own teacher, would be engaging in brand porn, taking medication with his grandmother, and otherwise coming across as a total dick in the chorus.

And yes, I know that I'm saying what Spectrum Pulse has said, when he tackled this song on Billboard Breakdown before, but still every other music critic has voiced their displeasure on this song.

And every criticism that I have with this song are exactly the same as other music critics criticism.

I only have to say this, I hope, I HOPE, that he stays a One-Hit Wonder, a very awful One-Hit Wonder.

Screw Lil Pump, screw Soundcloud rappers as a whole and SCREW GUCCI GANG!

And yet, even with that it is not the worst song of 2017 in my personal opinion.
