I do love Swish Swish but that video is horrid. Easily the worst music video of 2017.

I Feel It Coming is great. Although it was more of a 2016 song to me.

Wall Of Glass is better than I was expecting from Liam. Although For What It's Worth is 100x better.

I did really like Know No Better at the time but I've already kinda forgot it

Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2 is brill but is still one of my least faves from the album.

Strip That Down is my fave ex-1D member song!

It's definitely up there!

Yeah I was a bit slow in getting into it hence it carried over more into this year's window.

I had almost forgotten it myself tbf but I heard it out a few weeks back & re-remembered how great it was.

Oh really? Definitely one of my highlights & the best ballad on it for sure.

It's not far behind Pillowtalk for me, both really impressed me!

Hiya Dobbo!!

Forgot all about Cloudbusting but I really loved it at the start of the year. Plus, it made me go back and discover the original Kate Bush original so I have it to thank for that too. Although, to be quite honest, I do think I prefer the Just Us version

Not the biggest fan of Strip That Down though, repeated listens helped it grow on me a bit but it's a bit too cheesy for me and I preferred Harry's and Niall's solo stuff from this year much more. At least it was a lot better than the dreadful Bedroom Floor which was still to come :/

Yeah sometimes a good dance reworking makes you appreciate the original all over again - I probably prefer the Just Us myself too I'm not a huge Kate Bush fan though I can completely understand how influential she was/is!

It is a bit cheesy but it kinda worked for this track? Didn't get into Bedroom Floor myself either despite it growing somewhat eventually.

Blinded By Your Grace  Love the fact a song like that can still be a massive hit!

Agree the Hound remix is WAY better, really catchy and grew on me during the contest :D

Even in 2017 you just can't hold down a good gospel choir in a song!

Glad you were a fan, it felt like the perfect season-ender & of course it tied well into Hallowe'en :heehee:

Is this not the original mix? It has 94m streams too.

Never got into it myself.

That does indeed seem to be the correct one, no idea why it didn't pop up for me

~adds to Best of 2017 Spotify playlist~

Hi Dobbo! A bit late but I'm gonna echo Josh's comment on 'I Feel It Coming', the Weeknd's best ever for me too and I'm glad it got a proper video in the end. 'Jungle' was definitely a nice surprise from Dobago, I knew it prior to BJSC but never would've guessed it was your entry! I'll be looking for 'Push Bang Bang' and 'Love's Just A Feeling' in here as well.

Other faves so far: Blinded By Your Grace, Know No Better, and Chasing Highs

Yeah it was a very delayed vid iirc? Don't think I've actually even seen it though so I'll have to get round to that eventually.

I wanted to send something a bit different for a change & I'm glad that risk paid off. Those 2 will most certainly be featuring a fair bit higher!

Love Steady 1234, it sounded like a hit so I wish it took off

Always felt it was only ever destined to be a minor European hit myself sadly :/

Cloudbusting is one of the huge surprises of the year for me, I normally can't sand anyone covering or re-working Kate Bush and it's one of her absolute best for me, but it's such a banger <3

It did seem to be a widely regarded good remix, and as I said in a previous comment helps to bring the original back into some form of limelight!

70. PETIT BISCUIT - Sunset Lover

Total points: 205

Peak: #10

A song originally released in 2015 but seemed to experience a second lease of life in late 2016 where it charted in a few territories around the world. Generally speaking I'm not usually a fan of this ambient dance sound however this was another song with a certain charm to it. I really like the gibberish lyrics actually and the calmness I experience while listening to it. Definitely one for a future "Relaxing songs" Spotify playlist...

Nice to see "Attention", "September Song", "I Feel It Coming", "Wall Of Glass", "Know No Better", "True Feeling", "Cloudbusting", "Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2", "Strip That Down", "Steady 1234" and "Chasing Highs" in your Year-End List!

It's a great list so far!

69. Snavs - For You

If you like your drops HARD then I cannot recommend this enough. It's a mighty stomper for Danish producer Snavs that exceeded the predictions & smashed into the top 5 back in the Summer. What I particularly like about this song (and indeed all songs of its ilk) is that all the drops are different so it doesn't get repetitive after several listens.

68. Charlie Puth - How Long

Back again for his second & final appearance in the list is Charlie Puth. As previously mentioned he managed to outdo the already great 'Attention' with this undeniably catchy slice of pop that really deserved much more commercially. Now firmly my favourite single of his to date, he would most certainly have been higher had the curtain not come down for the 2017 cut-off.

Hi Dobbo, catching up! Lots of love for Swish Swish, both Charlie songs, September Song and many others, can't wait to see what else is to come!

67. Aly & Fila meets Roger Shah & Susana - Unbreakable

We go right back to the start of the year for the next entry. Aly & Fila are an Egyptian trance duo that managed to create this song that felt both current & timeless together. It was a fantastic discovery for me from the first BJSC of the year after it was sent by Dan where it criminally underperformed. It did the business on this Chart however & I have since delved into some more of their material, it's pretty damn good stuff!

Thanks Joseph, hopefully there's gonna be some appearances further down the line of songs you're a big fan of :D

66. Gromee (feat. Mahan Moin) - Spirit

From one BJSC entry to another now, however I was very much already familiar with this track prior to its inclusion. It's just a brilliant deep house number from Polish producer Gromee with pounding production & a solid vocal. It experienced a brief second run in the Chart due to said BJSC appearance which manages to bump it up a few places. I'm also a big fan of the music video for this, not often dance tracks get provided with notable MVs but here is an exception.

yay for Unbreakable making it in :D Perhaps Eurodancer could too or was its chart run too short? And of course Tu Conmigo.
Sprit is so good but I haven't loved much else form Gromee, aside from Runaway

Even though I'd say I prefer Eurodancer it actually didn't make the list, finishing in 124th. Just one of those chart injustices I guess, Tu Conmigo is most definitely still to appear!

I wasn't even a huge fan of that so he's very much a one-hit wonder for me so far

65. Metrik (feat. Rothwell) - We Got It

Metrik has always been one of those hit & miss dance acts but when he has stuff like this in his locker it makes you wonder why he's not more consistent. This is an outstanding Drum & Bass anthem; very frantic and with powerful vocals. Interestingly it is the lowest peaking song in the entire top 100 but managed a steady run within the top 20 to rack up a handsome haul of points.

64. Maroon 5 (feat. SZA) - What Lovers Do

Speaking of inconsistent acts, they don't come much more so than in the shape of Maroon 5. Still going strong after well over a decade in the game they seem to switch between very good & very bad singles almost at will. Their latest one however is a brilliant pop track, drafting in an almost unrecognisable SZA for this infectious piece. I really like the hook in this, perhaps in part due to the overwhelmingly obvious similarities to NEIKED's 'Sexual', a song which did very well for itself on my countdown last year. Nevertheless it proved to be a successful move as they can another one to their long list of hits.

63. Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You

Yep, here it is. The longest running UK #1 single of the year lands in 63rd and I for one never really got completely bored of it somehow! It was quite a refreshing change for Ed to put out something upbeat after his torturous last album campaign and no matter how trend-hoppy it was, I was on board with this from the first listen. Of course, 14 weeks at #1 was a bit overkill hence it didn't stick around for too long but made enough of a dent at the top of this Chart to finish a bit higher than I was expecting.

You just can't beat a good bit of electroswing! Of course most of you know this was a well deserved BJSC winner this year & it's not hard to see why. Although it only managed a modest peak of #13 it achieved a respectable run for a non-top 10 hit. Not much more to add here as I'm sure it'll appear somewhere in my BJSC list (which I'll get round to compiling eventually).

If ever there was an example of a song the epitome of the word "tune" then you can't veer too far away for this. Now I've absolutely no idea who this guy is, nor have I ever heard anything else from him but is this is the sole represent of his musical legacy, then it's a huge thumbs up from me. It's quite a banga.

Hi Dobbo

I prefer How Long to Attention too! Both sound pretty similar I guess but the former is just that extra bit catchier for me. Loving this sound he's gone for this era though, I hope the album is more of the same and is a big success for him because it seems he's really found his sound recently :music:

Omg at you not getting bored of Shape of You though, I wish I could say the same :drama: I don't hate listening to it now so much but there was a period where I had to turn it over if it came on the radio. It's a shame too because I absolutely loved it for a couple of months but radio really need to know when to let a song go

That Metrik song must've passed me by but it's sounding great. I also liked 'Chasing Sunrise' a fair bit last year, and 'Tension' with Fred V & Grafix.

Also like Gypsy and They Don't Know. I was kinda into Shape Of You and What Lovers Do for a few weeks but they got old fast.
