If Rashid does well in the upcoming Test series against India, then great. What happens though if he has a stinker in the Indian series, we choose not to pick him for the winter Tests and then he decides not to bother pursuing red ball cricket once we get to 2019?

I wouldn't argue with any of the names on that list. It looks like they've gone with the players who have scored the most runs or taken the most wickets.

I'm enjoying this Test Series. One close match won by England,then two one sided matches,one for England and one for India. The top four in the England batting order need to score more runs.
