Looking an possibility that the London Stadium will host the Athletics World Cup which could be launched this summer with be of 8 of the world's top countries.

Confirmed that The Olympic Stadium will play host to a new event on 14-15 July.

 

Previously advertised as The Meet (a GB&NI vs USA match comp), the Athletics World Cup* is an 8-nation 2-day competition with an overall prize pot of $2 million (approx. £1.4 million).

 

The other six countries involved are Poland, China, Germany, France, Jamaica and South Africa.

British Olympic sprinter Nigel Levine has been provisionally suspended for failing a drugs test.

 

It was reported in December the 28-year-old had allegedly tested positive for the banned asthma drug clenbuterol.

Congratulations to Katarina Johnson-Thompson claimed her first global title with victory in the pentathlon at the World Indoor Athletics Championships. A good performance from her, hopefully she can go and build on this.

Laura Muir has started working with a coach from the controversial Nike Oregon Project.

 

The project is led by Mo Farah's former coach Alberto Salazar, who is being probed by the US Anti-Doping Agency.

Although tomorrow she will receive a Bronze medal from the 2008 Olympics :o Her relay team finished 5th but two teams above them have now been disqualified due to doping.
