Chelsea's team today seemed like a decent balance between strength and resting key players, but then again I only heard about half an hour of the game on the radio so I don't really know how well they played. With Newcastle winning they're in a far trickier position, although at least they'll have the FA Cup if they play half as well against Liverpool as they did against Spurs.

They played not to lose the game really. Not surprising really, not sure whether they've given up on 4th but if they win the Champions League they'll get Newcastle/Spurs spot anyway. Might have my tinted glasses on but don't think Chelsea will beat Liverpool in the Cup, they will if we play Carragher at the back though. I don't think Chelsea have played particulaly good football since Matteo took over, they've just been largely defensive. Playing to their strengths really, but not pretty football. Think the old Chelsea guard have been showing di Matteo videos of Mourinho! :D
Real beat Barcelona 2-1 tonight, So I think La Liga is over for Barcelona and no doubt Chelsea have a better chance during the week now as I'm sure Barcelona's morale may be a bit low.
Three defeats on the bounce, two games to go and still in with a chance for Carlisle to be in the play-offs.

we are staying up we are staying up!

cant believe it. now bristol city have stayed up we seriously need a busy summer as we have done this 3 years in a row. we need a pacy goalscoring forward, a holding midfielder or a classy midfield player, two or 3 quality defenders which could be amougou and mcmanus, and finally a goalkeeper as i dont think we should give david james a playing contract as his legs or arms have gone. it would be great if he stayed on as a coach though.

George boyd and jordan rhodes would do.

Really? Wrong thread for this all by the way but, I'd say Barcelona being mainly out of La Liga would give them more to play for at Nou Camp against Chelsea.

Yeah, I agree that Barcelona will go all out against Chelsea, but I'm sure had they beaten Madrid confidence would be MUCH higher.

Thing is Barca by their standards have been poor this year. They've really missed Villa. The only finisher they have in their squad now is Messi, everyone else is just raw. Valdes is an average goalkeeper, and Pique has had a very poor year. Whereas this year Real Madrid have come on leaps and bounds. Pepe is probably the best centre back in the world, Benzema has finally shown what a class talent he is, and Ronaldo's rivalry with Messi has made him become a much better player. I think on the whole Real Madrid probably have a better squad than Barca currently. It just depends whether they turn up on Tuesday. I think they will personally, but it will be an interesting game.

I can't wait to watch the Man Utd Everton match later. Sounds like a cracker, heave heard on Twitter that Man Utd's defence was abysmal!

I agree, I can't wait to watch MOTD later on, If City win against Wolves, the league title is out in the open!
I thought Man City had bottled it. Need a win today before we can talk about the title again, but massive massive incentive now for them.
So if City win all their remaining games then they've got the title. And if they beat Wolves, United can no longer win it at the Etihad which will be a relief to a lot of fans.

If City beat Wolves today and Man United next week they'll be top of the league, which is a shock as like Rooney I thought they bottled it.

I'm gutted and in a way surprised that Wolves have been relegated, really thought they'd push on this year but the whole season (bar the first 3 games) has been a total shambles, all fully deserved. Sacking McCarthy was far from being a wrong decision, he'd had more than enough time to turn it round and completely failed, he made the worst signing of the season of any team (and promptly made him captain), and helped save another team from being relegated by failing to see the brilliance of Adlene Guedioura.
I'm glad they're down. Maybe sacking Mick McCarthy was right, personally I don't. I thought he might have turned it around. Putting they made a massive error putting Terry Connor in charge. It's come back to bite them at the end.
They were going down with him. He'd lost it, they had a great start and spectacularly failed to build upon it. Even when they hit a run of 'good' form it consisted of mainly battling draws and a win which owed as much to Djibril Cisse's stupidity as anything else, then they imploded again, they were awful. Perfect time to sack him too, plenty of games left and at the beginning of a two week break.
What's everyone's opinions towards Ched Evens getting 5 years?

I've not read the whole case so it's unfair to make an advantage. From my own person experience of jury service, normally the judge tells people trialled together for the same offences that if you find one guilty it's likely that the other will be guilty aswell. This is where the case gets funny. Obviously the one that got away from jail pulled her in a club and took her back. Fine, standard one night stand. But then Ched Evans and his mates turned up and watched. This is where it gets funny. Obviously the girl claims she was wasted so she couldn't consent to sex, but what's the difference between the both of them? That's where it's funny. Like I say I've not read the case, just bits and pieces off the TV so I can't make my own realy judgement. Reckon he'll win on appeal to, there's definitely enough grounds to if he gets a good enough legal team.

That's a disadvantage of being a football player, the amount of girls that claim they've been raped as they were too wasted to have sex is quite ridiculas. I have no idea how Evans team mate got not guilty tbh if Evans got guilty. But he got voted into the team of the year and like you said I think she should be able to win his appeal.

The prosecution thought the girl was spiked. Whether she was who knows. But if she can consent to one person having sex then why not the other? The thing that probably got Evans done was he had no business being there. He probably got a bit jealous that his mate had pulled, but whether he raped her I don't personally know. Obviously the jury and the law has found him guilty so her most likely probably did. But for one player to get off and the other to go down - this is where questions need to be asked. Raises questions.

By the way for those that missed it RVP won Player of the Year and KYLW WALKER won Young Player of the Year. Absolute joke. RVP by a long way yes, but Walker? LOL, brightened up my day by learning how much people do not know about football.

Howard Webb has been announced as the ref for the Manchester Derby next weekend. Haha, the title is Manchester United's then ;)
