Which is why I mentioned casual audience. I understand there seems to be "an underground following" or whatever, but I know nothing about that so avoided it. I get why they added these rappers (and I love the song so wasn't trying to take away from it at all - but I understand why my post may come across that way) but I dunno. M.O never had trouble getting support from R1 + Xtra in the past, and even with a line-up change, I don't think that would've changed for them (at least not for this song - had it been a flop/another of theirs to miss top 40 after support, I reckon R1 woulda called it a day on them)

I still think it is down to the song being very on trend, rather than it being solely down to the rappers that are featured. They helped ofc, but not to the extent that it's only a hit because of them, imo.

Plus, line-up changes have been hugely successful in the past :kink: (but we are in different times now haha) so just because they had a line-up change, doesn't mean it'd have hindered them. M.O weren't exactly big hitters in the first place, so I doubt anyone even noticed (or particularly cared) beyond people like us

I mean if it was down to features RAYEs “Cigarette” would be a hit no?!

We all know that if you’re a generic male rapper, then you don’t need hits to get hits.

I just don’t think it would’ve been a hit without them

I think the features *have* helped that to some extent, I'm not sure it would've almost been a top 40 hit in week 1 without Mabel and Stefflon attached!

well for some unknown reason i hated this on first listen but adore her on second

as jon has said it’s v on trend

i’m glad to see them having success with it, if only for jack x

I am indifferent to M.O. as a group but I love this. The guest raps are not memorable at all but I get the "go away" hook stuck in my head all the time.

My favourite song of the moment. I'm so glad it's become a hit.

And on the subject of why it's a hit, it's because it's SO current and on trend and Spotify friendly. The features help, but so too do the girls themselves who just exude a fierce, loveable persona throughout the song. It's the entire package and the fact it's basically the perfect blend of what's hot right now that's made people take notice of it.

Finally heard this played on Capital. Still sounding so good in the sun

OMG, I'm an idiot. I've been listening to this for weeks thinking it was MØ of Lean On fame. :kink:

They've released a new mostly-solo version called 'Bad Vibe (Summer Vibes)':
