Hope we get lots of performances like these on this year's tour:

My all time favorite remains the Ultimate Tour one. The way Gary switches from chest voice to head voice and back is insane, in my non-expert opinion.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

That tour brings back so many memories, Milly. I went with a large group of work friends, about 10 of us. First time I'd seen TT live and we all went for ' a bit of fun.' I was absolutely bowled over by the show/them. The Beatles Medley and the above performance has always stuck in my mind.

I've had a soft spot for the Ultimate Tour ever since. I never expected them to be so good live and it was a shock to see how fab the show was - good memories. Where has the time gone ??

Odyssey is number 3 on sales of over 12,000 which is around 2500 ahead of lady gaga at number 4.Odyssey should get around 15,000 sales this week which leaves just over 50, 000 to get to platinum.

I know this is a dead month sales-wise, but I was hoping the documentary would be sappy enough to attract more sales. I may have been overly optimistic, but I expected around 50k. Not even 20k is quite a let down. I wonder if it even justifies the cost of making the documentary.
The days of them shifting big numbers outside release week are over. My hopes was for it to make platinum which I think it will which sadly I don't think wonderland will ever manage.

UK End Of Year Albums:

Odyssey: #11 (18). Sadly just misses a top 10 placing.

Other albums (highest year placing only)

Top 10 album in bold

Take That & Party: #19 (93)

Everything Changes: #3 (93)

Nobody Else: #16 (95)

Greatest Hits: #8 (96)

Never Forget: The Ultimate Collection: #19 (05)

Beautiful World: #2 (06)

The Circus: #2 (08)

The Greatest Day - Take That Present The Circus Live: #27 (09)

Progress: #1 (10)

Progress Live: #65 (11)

III: #10 (14)

Wonderland: #13 (17)

Odyssey: #11 (18)

Two albums each decade ending with a top 10 placing for 90's, 00's and 10's.

I still don't think that placing is correct. It's based on sales up to last Thursday included and not even then it's definite that they were behind Eminem, 400 copies more or less. Since then, till Monday, they sold plenty to gain a place in top 10. In cases like this, when the year doesn't end on the same day as the chart week, sales should be taken into consideration on a day to day basis.

Besides, that's not an official placing, it's just a hierarchy made by someone on the main forum, based on sales up to last Thursday. Technically, TT should have ended the year top 10 (maybe even at 9).

Fab, Thanks Milly! Still surprising this was never released officially...
Unfortunately, it's not the entire concert, it's mainly the classics.

Is it safe to say that this is the kind of songs we are all expecting on a TT album?

I can't stop listening to this. I do love the original versions of the songs but there is just something special about these mixes. It is a great celebration of the band and their history.
They've made some very, very strange song choices in the past four years. Does anyone know if this song is for a film score? It's a lovely, lovely song and this is also what I expect from TT.

No, it's just a song Gary used for one of his Barlow Bootcamp instagram videos.

I'm dying to hear the full song, but who knows if we ever will?!

I wish the boys realized this is the kind of stuff we're loving.

I would love more of this style as it's what they do best.I agree that some of songs in the last 4 years are very poor in comparison to some of the Brill stuff they have done. I would love them to concentrate more on the next album whenever it comes and go back to what they do best as I think it's what most of us want from them. Wonderland had a very lost feeling to it and also very rushed and it doesnt have any huge standout moments. Three at the least gave us the excellent these days.

Ironically, the best track - for me, at least - on Wonderland was a bonus track, Loving or Leaving. Oh, and It's All For You was a keeper too.

III had Freeze, Flaws,Amazing, Higher than Higher, These Days, the stunning Will You Be There For Me, Carry Me Home - I actually believe III is the album that's gonna age the best- again, imo.

But we have to be ready to admit one thing: many of the songs most of us love have a heavy GB imprint on them. That's not to say that they should go back to the 90s and let Gary do all the writing, but the boys should encourage Gary to be "more of himself", if that makes sense, on the TT albums. Gary has a different approach when writing for TT than when he writes for himself or a musical and, unfortunately, as we see with the track above, his "solo" output is better for fans' tastes. I'm almost sure the critics would slam him for doing ballads like this one, but it's what we like and want, so....

Very good points and i agree Gary would get slated but if it was a hit who cares and more importantly a good quality song. I know the data off hits are over but I miss enjoying their music. I love so much of the back catalogue as it's what I listen to but I really think they have at least 1 more great studio album left in them.
