Looking forward to the new season with Jodie in the lead, love the new Dr. Who logo but most of all the new Tardis when she finds it. The first episode is mostly land based I heard. I also think having 3 companions is a good thing, to be honest I don't mind Bradley Walsh as an actor,

Steven Moffat has stated that, as the original plan was for Clara to leave in ‘Last Christmas’, he was eyeing up that epiosde’s Shona as a companion for Series 9 (played by Faye Marsay)! I guess it would have depended on Faye’s availability and actually agreeing to it, but I’d have loved that idea! Great actress, great character and great story!

I re-watched Last Christmas the other day, and tbh, I thought Shona was a bit annoying.

It would've be interesting to see her as a companion though, as I thought she was quite good in Fresh Meat as Candice.

There's rumors that there will be a sketch filmed for Children in Need this year, the first since Time Crash in 2007. Since then, there's just been previews of the Christmas special and in 2012 there was a prequel for The Snowmen.
Would moving it to Sunday night at 8pm, work?

Yes, 100%. I suggested this before (maybe in this thread?) or even agreed when there have been rumours.

It may have helped bring back Saturday Night TV in 2005 and obviously has a legacy being on Saturday nights but t’s also a show that breaks tradition!! Less and less people are watching live TV, let alone on Saturday nights where the only dramas now are Casualty and the really dark late night ones like Taboo, Gunpowder or the Danish/Scandi ones. Sunday night now is the premier night for TV viewing and is the perfect place to put a family drama like Doctor Who there.

I’ll be so annoyed if they leave it on Saturdays where it’s just completely overshadowed by Strictly and people going out or having movie/Netflix nights. It needs a regular time slot too.

(I know Strictly’s on Sundays too but it feels a lot different!)

omg ive found it, im a parrot!!

I’m kind of hoping they move it to Sunday nights too, maybe at 8pm. The hour slot will help it fit in the schedule. It’s return may have helped bring back Saturday night TV in 2005 but it’s not going to respark again now and the show is becoming lost in the fact that no other dramas air on Saturday nights apart from the mainstay of Casualty.

I like it airing on Saturday nights for you because it means we get it on the following Sunday night :kink.

I think moving to Sunday would be the best move but if it doesn't, it needs a *consistent* time slot BEFORE Strictly, not mucked about at different times after Strictly like series 9 (which suffered in the ratings as a result).

The BBC said to the Radio Times that series 11 will air 'by October', so I'm predicting a start date of either 25 or 26 September.

Hopefully they don't move it to a Tuesday or Wednesday slot :kink:

I do feel like having the show air on a Sunday would be far more beneficial now than a Saturday in terms of ratings, unless of course as Joseph said it was consistently before Strictly week-on-week.

Sunday would be best for it, as much as it feels like a Saturday show. With the reboot, it needs some stability in scheduling and Sunday will certainly offer that! The last time it played out alongside Strictly on Saturday, it got very lost in the schedule.

All of the writers have now been confirmed for the series:

Malorie Blackman

Ed Hime

Peter McTighe

Vinay Patel

Joy Wilkinson

So I’m assuming Chibnall will be writing 5 episodes for the series, and each of the new writers will have an episode each? Very excited either way. Intrigued to see Malorie’s take on Doctor Who!

Oh wow Malorie Blackman, that’s intriguing! :o First black female write for the show!

Just having a quick google of the others, I see Vinay Patel wrote the BAFTA winning Murdered By My Father. All looks positive!
