Yeah, it would do fine on streaming if it was on some playlists. Either way, it’s setting up the album nicely, which has already has over 10,000 preorders in the UK (I know I sound like a deluded stan but it’s from someone pretty reliable]. Also it’s 15 and 34 now.

I would take the 10k pre orders with a pinch of salt. Those figures generally do not get released. Fans more often than not make them up and I think 10k at this point might be slightly ambitious.

If Dancing had Rita Ora's name attached to it instead of Kylie's, I'm confident it'd be a big hit. I think Dancing is perfectly commercial. A huge #1? No way, but I think it could be a solid top 40 if people stopped the "she's irrelevant" mindset when she's one of the biggest artists of all-time, still producing better pop music than most of the people who are charting higher than she is.

Exactly this tbh, if it was Rita Ora then it'd be fine but it's Kylie so it's irrelevant to the mass market now.

Although I think it's very silly that she's seen as irrelevant. The only reason she's seen that way is because Radio 1 have stopped playing her because she's too old. Her music is perfectly commercial and on-trend!

To be fair .... Kylie has about 7 different formats out for pre sale ..... She knows her market lol

16 and 35 on iTunes so that's about 12th if combined .

Yeah I would usually agree, though this figure is from TheHeadlessPostman, who works in the industry and is pretty much the oracle of insider Kylie knowledge. Given those mad Golden bundles where you get like a cd, vinyl and cassette (!) per purchase, and the fact that she sold out 1500+ UK tickets at £85 per ticket in seconds for her album launch concert, I think the core fandom is stronger than ever at the moment and willing to buy in bulk...but maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part!

Society is ageist unfortunately.

Kylie Irrelevant but look at all her songs in iTunes right now. Can someone pull them easily from the chart instead of me having to type them all please?
42. Make Me Feel - Janelle Monáe

I thought this would be on the way outta the top 100 by now :o

Future number 1 jase :smoke:

I like a ton of Kylie tracks including "Dancing" but objectively she's irrelevant in 2018.

Ah, right, fair enough. I’m sure she’ll do well upon release, because she has so much promo coming up. 10k just seemed a lot for pre orders the way the market is today (especially taking into account the time of year)

Then what's clouding your judgement?

I mean, I was just estimating that Dancing would get maybe to around, say, #60 , on Spotfiy (I know that’s not great) with major playlists support , which with ACR would be enough for a few weeks top 40? I don’t think that’s a dramatic estimation given she’s been just outside the top 40 once already and very possibly will be again this week.

In a perfect world, yes -_-

It's so hard to predict these days. I think 5 years ago then it'd have been "Blurred Lines" big.

I was referring to your comment that if it was on playlists, the mass demographic of Spotify users (i.e. students/teenagers) would get into it and not skip it.

Kylie Minogue Greatest Hits 40th on iTunes

I know, but it shouldn't be. Ultimately, age is the only thing that is making Kylie "irrelevant". The Aphrodite era was successful so it's not like Radio 1 began ignoring her because she was flopping. Furthermore, Into the Blue sounded massive to me. It's a shame that one station can just decide when an artist isn't relevant to youth anymore.
