good for J Cole but I kinda wish the occ had stricter rules in cases like this, the 3-song rule is not enough, here people are clearly streaming the album in full or almost full, so it should count only for the album charts, they shouldn't allow double counting for both singles and album charts at the same time, which is what's happening now

There's no way Ariana will be #1 this week due to One Kiss being huge on streaming and sales

MAYBE #2 but I think she'll slip to 3 or 4 throughout the week

A shame :(

I hope it goes to #01 eventually, One Kiss is good but really nothing on Ariana at all.

While this is true, (unless the rules are different to what I remember) The top 2 tracks' streams don't count to the album chart, and the 4th and lower tracks don't count to the singles chart, so it's only the 3rd highest track that contributes to both, and that's reduced by ~90% since they take an average of the tracks. J Cole's 3rd highest track got 280K streams yesterday which contributes less than 200 points to the album chart, likely less than 1000 for the whole week.

The #1 and #2 tracks are actually counted for the album, but as an average of album tracks instead of their actual streams. So it’s still a partly double counting.

I still insist it would be way better if they counted a stream as an album track if a person listened to more of the half of the album, and as a single if otherwise.

I genuinely thought I had erased my signature years ago. I keep signatures being turned off so didn’t notice that, I’m sorry!

oh right, I thought that would've been the case. Photobucket removed a whole load of images and replaced them with an ugly 'we no longer support 3rd party hosting' image :drama:

don't get why you're surprised at 2002 doing so well, 1000% expected

2002 is another ed sheeran track with his usual songwriting tricks and childish lyrics, boring production from Steve Mac that makes the song sound like a Westlife track, so sure will do well sadly :/

2002 literally sounds nothing like Westlife...

Brilliant start for Ariana, I hope she can manage a #2 debut! Not the #1 I had expected but One Kiss is so huge that it's understandable she won't be overcoming it. Fantastic starts for Anne-Marie and Liam Payne too, and J. Cole is exceeding my expectations (although I knew he would do well).

The #1 and #2 tracks are actually counted for the album, but as an average of album tracks instead of their actual streams. So it’s still a partly double counting.

It depends on what way you interpret it I suppose. The top 2 tracks are being flattened to that average and technically count, but from a mathematical standpoint, you could really just say they're taking the average of every track but the top 2, and you'll still get the same amount in the end.

The crux of what I was trying to say though is that once the top 2 are settled as what they are, any additional streams for those 2 tracks are irrelevant. Whether they collect 10 million streams or 100 million streams, it won't change the amount of streams applied to the album chart.

tracks 1 & 2 are neutralised but still they count for both charts

I think that if I go to spotify, search for J Cole, click on the album, and listen to track 1, Spotify should consider that only for the album charts

guess it's worst in the US, it's idiotic that track 1, which is just a 1 minute intro, could potentially go top 10/20 in the singles chart cos people are streaming the album

Those streams for Calvin/Dua and Drake are crazy! Clearly the weather has made a huge impact on their streams Friday.

On any other week those streams for Ariana would be a great opening. I just hope it continues to build over the week and is gaining enough downloads to get ahead of those streams. Probably looking at a #2 chart position at best this week now.
