Posted March 12, 20187 yr If you could redo the singles, what would their releases look like? I've tried to be as strategic as possible with mine - not necessarily my absolute favourites, but tracks I think would've been successes. One Touch Overload One Foot In *launches the album* Run For Cover Promises or New Year (NY might not be the best option for summer time...) I honestly believe that Little Lady Love had single potential too, so that could potentially be thrown in somewhere. Angels With Dirty Faces Freak Like Me Round Round *launches the album* Stronger Supernatural - I LOVE Shape, but the simultaneous Craig David/Sting release was messy af. Blue - Angels was MASSIVE so they could've squeezed in another single. However, I understand the importance of chart positions back in 2003, so a Top 20 might have been more damaging than anything else. Three Hole In The Head *launches the album* Too Lost In You In The Middle Whatever Makes You Happy or Conversation's Over (if they were adamant on releasing a ballad). Taller In More Ways Push The Button *launches the album* Ugly Gotta Be You (Mutya) / Red Dress (Amelle) Ace Reject (Mutya) / Gotta Be You (Amelle) Overloaded Easy *launches the album* Good To Be Gone - Could swap these around. Although, for such a flawless back catalogue, the lead single should've been much stronger. The artwork should've acknowledged all members' contributions, too. I really think this created a lot of bad taste amongst the public. Change About You Now *launches the album* My Love Is Pink - Change is beautiful and I understand the notion of releasing it in winter, but they needed a good old Xenomania bop to keep things flowing after the success of AYN. Denial Never Gonna Dance Again Catfights And Spotlights Girls - Avoid a staggered digital/physical release. Capitalise on the positive press of another #1. Every Heart Broken *launches the album* Side Chick Unbreakable Heart Sweet 7 Get Sexy - Release a week earlier for #1 position. About A Girl *launches the album* Thank You For The Heartbreak (Keisha) / Wait For You (Jade) Wait For You or No More You (Keisha) / Miss Everything (Jade) - Capitalise on the Sean Kingston collaboration.
March 13, 20187 yr I think the right choices were made for each era tbh, not so much One Touch as Soul Sound is random af.
March 17, 20187 yr Author I think the right choices were made for each era tbh, not so much One Touch as Soul Sound is random af. As much as I love it, Soul Sound is indeed an extremely random single. :P The only other major blip for me is Follow Me Home.
March 19, 20187 yr Just because Change is on my mind right now, I'd do this: About You Now -> Change (after Christmas) -> Denial -> Album Release -> 3 Spoons Of Suga -> Mended By You I don't think they ever properly capitalised on the success of AYN because Change felt rushed out for the Christmas market and thus kinda got lost in the AYN bubble. Radio was still playing the shit out of AYN, rightly, so Change never really got to stand in it's own light.
March 19, 20187 yr The only other major blip for me is Follow Me Home. That was a catastrophic f*** up. In hindsight Red Dress wasn't fab either given it was allegedly what pushed Mutya over the edge.
March 19, 20187 yr Sweet 7 - a minute of silence for Sugababes be dead *launches the album* - Get Sexy *to further prove they have become shit* - About a Girl *limited edition 10 copies homemade cassette release from Jade Ewen's bedroom*
March 19, 20187 yr Sweet 7 should have gone: Thank You For The Heart Break -> Wait For You -> *Amelle Leaves, Mutya Returns* -> album cancelled because Mutya hates it and it needs to be rerecorded -> No More You (with Mutya's vocals) -> New Single -> Sweet 7 2.0
