Beyonce and Jay-Z's biggest singles on the Official UK Chart

13 March 2018 | By Rob Copsey

As the couple gear up to bring their double act to the UK this summer, OfficialCharts.com reveals their biggest singles.

Things have changed quite a lot in the world of Beyoncé and Jay-Z since they first hit the road together in 2014.

Two years after their first On The Run dates - a tour that was limited to North America, Canada and France - Beyoncé surprise-dropped Lemonade, an album that addressed her husband's infidelity and cast doubt over the future of music's golden couple. The following year Jay responded with the repenting 4:44.

Both with a considerable arsenal of hits behind them, OfficialCharts.com has looked at the pair's biggest singles in the UK and combined them together to create what, in theory, should be a dream set list for their newly announced On The Run II, which arrives in the UK this June.

Bey and Jay's first On The Run tour included a mammoth 44 songs, so we're revealing each of their Top 22 songs (based on sales and streams combined) before merging them together into the ultimate Mr and Mrs Carter chart.

Beyoncé

Queen Bey's Top 3 singles in the UK have all achieved more than one million combined sales. Her biggest single is Halo, which, despite peaking at Number 4 in 2009, has 1.2m combined sales. If I Were A Boy, the chart-topping lead to her I Am... Sasha Fierce album, is second on 1.1m, closely followed by her Number 1 solo debut Crazy In Love on 1.03m.

Beyoncé's biggest collaboration is her 2008 hook-up with Lady Gaga, Telephone (846,000), though Jay-Z collab Drunk In Love from her self-titled collection is less than 2,000 behind.

Her 2008 album I Am... is the best represented in the list with six entries here (unsurprising as it's her best-selling album with 1.67m sales), while just one song from Lemonade, Hold Up, appears at 22. See where all of Beyonce's singles and albums have reached on the Official UK Chart here.

Jay-Z

The rapper's singles catalogue is distinctly more collab-heavy than Bey's, but it's equally impressive on the sales front. His biggest single, Umbrella with Rihanna, has shifted 1.1m combined sales to date, while N****s In Paris, on which he takes the lead credit alongside Kanye West, is second on 1.02m.

Other notable collaborations include 2009's Empire State of Mind with Alicia Keys which, despite somehow missing the top spot, has 929,000 combined sales to be his fourth biggest hit, while the chart-topping Run This Town with Rihanna and Kanye is seventh (511,000).

Jay's first solo entry on his best-sellers list is at 7 with 2004's 99 Problems, followed by Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem) at 9 (476,000) and 2004's Big Pimpin' at 16. See where all of Jay-Z's singles and album have charted in the UK here.

Combining the two together and putting them in reverse order of sales (because the biggest songs are usually saved until the end), makes for a solid set list that would see Jay kick off proceedings with a couple of classics, Beyoncé dominating in the middle and plenty of moments for the pair to unite on stage peppered throughout. Plus, just look at the potential for surprise guest appearances from their collaborators:

Wow at Crazy in Love having passed 1m combined now. 400k in the last 3 years!
Partition outselling Baby Boy and Deja Vu is ridiculous. At least her top five is reflective of her biggest songs though.

I know streaming has its problems when it comes to total sales but it's great to see 'Crazy in Love' now in the 'millionaire' club because it is definitely worthy of such status.

Crazy to think it only sold 261k in 2003!

Yay at the sales update for all three of her millionaires! I always found it crazy that Bey (and Madonna) never achieved a million-selling single so I'm very pleased that she's managed to gain three with the addition of streaming. A shame the same hasn't happened for Madge yet.
Halo being her biggest song astounds me. I genuinely thought Single Ladies was her staple hit.
Halo is her most popular song on Spotify (well, it's second behind Perfect Duet), whereas Single Ladies isn't within her Top 10 (and neither is If I Were a Boy), so that's certainly helped Halo gain the upper hand and become her top hit now.

I love Halo even more so than Single Ladies for example but it doesn't feel like a moment in comparison, if that makes any sense? I would also expect Single Ladies to be on more playlists which would help it gain more casual streams but apparently not :o

Halo seems like a huge fan fave, like one that people go mad for on tour, and is obviously a huge hit, but I would have thought Crazy in Love and Single Ladies were bigger with the general public. Even something like Run the World and Drunk in Love, but I suppose they are more suitable for the club.

I guess Halo is pretty popular on radio still which helps.
