It's been 20 years since 'Breathe' became the third single to chart from Impossible Princess. Written and produced by Kylie along with Dave Ball and Ingo Vauk, the song discusses contemplation and holding back emotions, inspired by an occasion where her friends were concerned by her silence. Critics lauded the song, recognising it as one of the best from the album, as well as often considering it to be among her most underrated. 'Breathe' only made the UK and Australian charts, matching the peak of 'Did It Again' in the UK (#14) and, despite missing the Top 20, achieving solid longevity in Australia, spending 13 weeks in the chart.

Breathe, beautiful song and her most underrated single.

Sublime on release, has aged brilliantly and the standout song from the IP era.

Yes, much of the era was underrated but Breathe from the all her singles with de con for me feels the most forgotten.

It's such a forgotten Kylie single but I loved it and still do,really deserved so much more success but it's one of those songs I'm like I'm lucky to even know this song as so many don't know it exists.

It's in my top 5 of best kylie songs ever.

Listening to it now, it's a beauty and I don't think I take enough time to appreciate it. I've properly taken notice of the lyrics too; they're not too dissimilar to the themes addressed on Madonna's Ray of Light tbh: meditation, connecting with oneself spiritually, taking time out for yourself etc.
At that point Kylie was in a connecting with herself stage and in ways finding herself but that was evident in a few songs from the up era. Hopefully breathe gets performed again on some future tours.
Liked it back then and still like it. Prefer single edit over album version.

The single edit is the stronger of the version but i do like the album edit too.

The cover sleeve was horrific for the single.

I hated the cover sleeve too and some kind of bliss the same, 2 of fave singles by with awful artwork.

I loved the breathe je taime mash up she did on the body language show, that would have also made a great single.
