♦️ Grimmy, Clara & Greg all go down to four shows a week

♦️ Dev & Alice to host breakfast Fri-Sun

♦️ Mollie King & Matt Edmondson to host weekends 1-4pm

♦️ Scott Mills to take over the chart show

♦️ Maya Jama to host new Friday show

I'm pleased. Greg wasn't a bad host but I think Scott is just that tad closer to old skool presentation-wise.

He has always been the best host despite always being a cover, he always bought something unique to his stints. Very pleased to see him take on the show *. (Granted not entirely sure I’ll be able/actually choose to listen most times)

Also Grimmy reducing his shows? I approve, less of the sound of his voice in the morning is always good.

The show will also run from 4pm-7pm. Hopefully not the entire top 40 being played cos it’s just too stale to do that now. Maybe more up and coming tracks from between 41 and 100?

Let's hope they read our thread from a couple of weeks ago :magic:

I've tweeted Scott to plead with him to bring the geeky facts and drama of the Mark Goodier days back together with his wit and insight... whether he reads it or not is another matter :P

I wonder if that's a mistake - might be Steven has assumed it fills the whole slot but has forgotten that Dance Anthems exists. I'd be surprised if they gave us back the full 3 hours for Chart Show. Newsbeat will no doubt still be at 5.45.

I've tweeted him for clarification

So it's back to 3 hours for the chart countdown as I'm assuming Newsbeat will no longer air on a Friday? The requirement of Radio 1 is to broadcst the programme during its weekday schedules so if the weekend schedules now start on a Friday morning I'm wondering if the news will be dropped other than perhaps a quick recap of the headlines?
It wouldn't shock me if it IS back to a 3 hour show, purely because it means that the audience will be increased for the business end of the chart due to people finishing work etc.

Mmm but on the other hand Dance Anthems works quite well in that slot too

I enjoy it when I listen too tbf but we don't know what they have planned for 7pm onwards (or do we?)

I was expecting them to send Scott to Radio 2, given his age, but I'm very happy he is the new host of the Chart Show, hopefully Chris Stark is still with him!
At last... 15 years late giving Scott the gig, he should have taken over from Mark Goodier... not Wes... IMO...

Surely that's still Annie Mac, they wouldnt mess with her slot

Official BBC press office also says 4-7

Scott Mills says: “I was sat with my Mum when I got this news, and she actually cried because I’ve been pretending to do the chart show on Radio 1 since I was 8 years old. I’ve filled in on the show so much over the years, and I can’t believe it’s actually mine. I’m beyond excited!”

Bless him! So happy for him. It's the best decision they've made for years. Greg was good while he lasted but Scott is the real deal. Chart fans rejoice ;)

Thinking about it, they are describing it as Friday being "officially part of the weekend", which might mean Newsbeat isn't on as much (I think it gets shorter slots at the weekend doesn't it?), and Dance Anthems at 6 was always supposed to signal the start of the weekend, so maybe keeping it there would be at odds with that philosophy.

But Christ it'll be dull if they go back to the old-skool format of playing all 40 records. Can't imagine them extending the albums. Would be great if they did give us more of the chart 41-100 but is that just a dream?
