You can mute a song if you don't like it and cannot skip it, and it won't count to the chart if it is on mute. I suppose the vast majority wouldn't bother to mute and just sit through a song they're not too keen on, but the option is there.

 

I do agree that these types of streams should be worth less than streams from premium users who are actually paying for a Spotify subscription though.

At the same time though, it sounds to me like a feature that would be popular; if I were a Hot Hits listener, I'd probably want to hear the top songs first, not sit through Track 66 and hope 1 or 2 of my favourites come up within the next hour.

Definitely true that it can be a welcome feature, but you wouldn't go out of your way to make such a feature and not acknowledge it. I suppose it's a hard sell. Bordering on wild conspiracy, but it could be argued that playlists are carefully planned like this so they look enticing, only for the truth to be that they're manipulated to keep polarizing stuff from shuffling in, so people keep using the service and keep playing the same songs.

Anne-Marie only gained 1.8k streams today, her getting a new peak is mostly due to the collapse in streams for Ariana who falls 3-5 losing 13.7k streams.

 

The biggest gainer is 5SOS who gain 30.4k.

Is Youngblood now on hothits as it is an incredible gain considering they'd been around 50-60 for ages
