No, if that was the case then Moon Taxi, Blossoms and The Wombats wouldn't have got Hot Hits support with their recent eras.

'No Roots' isn't on the playlist because the label haven't paid for a place - that's all there is to it.

Cheers.

I wonder how much it actually costs to get playlist support on Spotify. I know you don’t have to pay to be added to most playlists but it sure helps. Do independent releases ever get added to playlists like Hot Hits?
i think nina nesbitt is n an indie label, and she was #4 x HH
It's awful how not being on a playlist really effects a songs performance so much :(

ooh we should see a big boost for Ariana then, but probably not enough to get her the official #1 this week.

good to see instant support for Jess Glynne too.

well it didn't count for taylor'delicate but that was the official video

I also think it didn't count for Liam, but not sure what kind of video it was, never clicked

still don't see the advantage if the video doesn't count, sure it would better for Ari's audio to be song #1 than song #11 as it is now, but maybe vertical videos count as they're not the official video

Xtina breaking Spotify is actually plausible tbh, she is basically a virus.
Whoever is responsible for compiling the Hot Hits playlist is an arsehole. I don't even need to meet them to know that.

Why? Let me guess.. it’s because 2002 is song #1.
