Salvador is an ex Idol contestant- I don't believe he didn't know what he was getting himself into. I wish Luisa Sobral had just performed the song herself.

Salvador never followed eurovision before and never though of what he could get with that.
Salvador is a VILE individual, absolute idiot. Honestly who does he think he is? Even if he hadn't watched the show etc., he must know the scale of the competition and how much it might have affected his life and the fame it would bring. I can't stand the music snobbery attitude, of course we all have opinions on the song and that's fine but I can't abide the fact he thinks he is so far above Eurovision and most things entered because of the genre of his song.
Does anyone have the link to that Salvador article? I think I may have to push his song down to last place on my countdown after reading that. Absolute twat.

Thanks - well it is really disappointing to read that; though at the same time he does talk about how Eurovision was positive for him. It's hard not to let his post-Eurovision speech and now this tarnish it all really.

I take it he's not coming back to sing at any interval this year?

I enjoyed the Portugal entry for what it was but lawd does he have to be so pretentious? :manson: Hope we get Cyprus to win just for the irony of "music is not fireworks"... and because it's the best song out of the serious contenders.

Jacques Houdek from Croatia last year just ripped into Salvador on Facebook-one very long rant.

A snippet:

If you hate the concept of Eurovision so much, you never should have competed in it! The fact that you had to struggle to listen to last year songs and now you are so happy that you don‘t have to listen to any of this year‘s „horrible“ ESC songs just tells us all that you are a very small person! All of these young artists have dreams and they are under enormous pressure at this moment, so who are you to put shade on any of them? You may think you are a true artist, that is your right, but to me you just seem like a poser. Do you really think you are cool by acting so non-interested and distant? Not! Do you really believe that this kind of behaviour makes you a bigger artist in the public eye? It does not! It just shows us all that you are fake, just like you were a year ago when you won the ESC 2017. You may have won the ESC, but to me you are not a winner!

TELL HIM JACQUES

I mean, I expected this from Salvador. He's also in probably way over his head, he probably entered not wanting to win and now has to reconcile his normal life where he only listens to dull jazz or something with this huge boisterous parade that he's now a part of. He only has this week more to go, then he can probably avoid it almost forever. So he really shouldn't complain.

He IS performing at the contest - during the final - a reprise of "Amar Pelos Dois" and a duet with Caetano Veloso. Why bother if he hates it so much :/
I assume he has to perform, probably in his contract with RTP/Eurovision. I just wish he'd keep his mouth shut, clearly his health problems haven't made him a better person. Nasty arrogant little shit.

Hoping my top 10 bet on Hungary checks out as each way on Estonia isn't looking too good  Julia might have pulled herself together judging by that, although 8pts in 10th in this is hardly anything to write home about ofc.
