May 11, 20187 yr Also ironic how it's Romanians basically voting for their own country from inside another country... one of the flaws since televoting was inevitably introduced. I have no sympathy and really I think it's a bullshit excuse anyway.

May 11, 20187 yr How stupidly petty. Though there's nothing about the Sammarinese entry that was Italian in any fashion. From Romania that reads like they feel they're owed a place in the final. What poor form to go looking for excuses.
May 11, 20187 yr From Romania that reads like they feel they're owed a place in the final. What poor form to go looking for excuses. Yes pretty much the same impression I've been getting from the Greeks and the Poles on social media - it's a huge shame.
May 11, 20187 yr Makes you wonder if any of them (Russia included) will pull a Turkey, say the Big 5 thing is unfair and walk away. Wasn't a problem when they were always in there of course...

May 11, 20187 yr The Eurovision Song Contest has banned a Chinese TV channel from broadcasting the competition after it censored a number of LGBTQ+ elements. Station Mango TV notably decided not to air Ireland's performance by Ryan O'Shaughnessy on Tuesday's semi-final, which featured two male dancers and a gay love story. It also censored Switzerland by apparently blurring rainbow flags in the audience, as well as censoring Albania's, which included tattooed performers. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has now banned Mango TV from airing the rest of the competition, revealing its censorship was not in line with the values of diversity on the show. "It is with regret that we will therefore immediately be terminating our partnership with the broadcaster and they will not be permitted to broadcast the second Semi-Final or the Grand Final," it said in a statement. Reacting to the news, O'Shaughnessy said on BBC Four: "I'd like to welcome the decision by the EBU to do that because from the very start we've said love is love – doesn't matter whether it's between two guys, two girls or a guy and a girl, so I think this is a really important decision by the EBU. "They haven't taken this lightly and I think it's a move in the right direction, so I'm happy about it."
