Posted October 27, 200618 yr Swap Shop stars set for reunion Keith Chegwin and Noel Edmonds were two of Swap Shop's hosts Stars of the 1970s Saturday morning show Swap Shop, including Noel Edmonds, are to reunite for a one-off special. The two-hour programme will also look back on other shows of the genre, including Saturday Superstore. Other Swap Shop stars, including Keith Chegwin and John Craven, will appear along with Posh Paws, the purple dinosaur who was the show's mascot. The programme's makers are looking for people who appeared on Saturday morning shows to take part in the special. 'Amazing memories' Contributors who took part in a swap or had a film crew in their house on one of Chegwin's outside broadcasts are being asked to come forward to mark the 30th anniversary of live Saturday morning TV. Swap Shop's chaotic studio set It Started With Swap Shop, due to be aired between Christmas and the New Year on BBC Two, will relive some memorable moments from Saturday morning TV, and will feature celebrity swaps. Edmonds, who recently revived his TV career as host of gameshow Deal Or No Deal, said: "I have some amazing memories and a special affection for Swap Shop. It was a programme that broke the mould and I am proud to have been a part of it. "The show's going to be like a giant party... old friends reunited!" he added. Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, which ran on BBC One from 1976-82, was the first live show of its kind, containing cartoons, live guests and outside broadcasts. Young viewers used to phone the programme and offer items to exchange for something they wanted, the best of which would be placed on the "swap board". The programme was replaced by a succession of derivatives, including Going Live and Live and Kicking. October 27, 200618 yr I don't remember Swap Shop, obviously  As for my favourite Saturday morning show, ever since I got a job I've missed out on Saturday morning telly. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing I don't know... -_-

October 28, 200618 yr I remember Swap Shop, particularly the period 1979-82, i think i was too young to remember it before then. I think both this and Tiswas are the greatest saturday morning shows ever. Saturday Superstore & Going Live weren't too bad either, but these two were the originators of this format. I'm really looking forward to seeing this reunion. Should be a real blast from the past.

Should be a real blast from the past. spot on TISWAS was the saturday morning show that all others ever since have copied. swap shop was utterly DULL by comparison and what is their legacy?.... bugger all!!! unfortunately for you young buggers, not only was the best music and fashions around in the past (that every group today is borrowing from ) but the best saturday morning tv show was tiswas, and nothing has come close to it ever since.... dispite everyone borrowing ideas from tiswas. :P  all you young buggers have is MY generations second hand ideas!
December 28, 200618 yr It Started With Swap Shop So did anyone see this tonight? I thought it was a good 2hr nostalgia-fest covering the BBC saturday morning shows right up the present day with the emphasis on Swap Shop - Live & Kicking, and a brief mention of the noughties. Good to see the old team back together once more , and the old swap shop set. Shame about Tony Hart being ill. Sure did look it in the photo they shown. He must be well in his 70s now, i can remember he was still on TV as recently as 2000 with SmartHart.
December 28, 200618 yr i dont think it did start with swap shop... it was lame compared to tiswas, which is the programme they all followed ever since. there was no anarchic behaviour on swap shop, it was very lame in comparisson. be it ministry of mayhem or dick n dom 'in da bung-lo' its clear which mould they are following.
December 29, 200618 yr It brought back a lot of memories watching it tonight. Keith Chegwin is still as mad as ever today as he was then.
December 29, 200618 yr unfortunately for you young buggers, not only was the best music and fashions around in the past (that every group today is borrowing from ) I realise how nothing is new nowdays. People who grew up back then were so lucky. Being born in 1989 was bad enough, missed the whole of the 80's, but imagine being born now.
December 29, 200618 yr I enjoyed the programme last night , I used to enjoy Swapshop at the time, but it looked a bit tame looking back at it. I also liked Tiswas :yahoo:
