Posted May 21, 20187 yr 20th May 2018 It's Abba's 1979 glorious Chiquitita back on top for a 3rd week after seeing it in the Three Billboards movie (along with Joan Baez's cover of The Band's Dixie at 27, back after 47 years MIA, a former top 5). Hordes of oldies this week thanks to Deadpool and adverts. Like Woodkid's 2012 chart-topper here, and former Buzzjack Song Contest winner, back in at 2 as it heads into the itunes chart thanks to an ad. Still sounds exciting, and that drum pattern has been borrowed a bit by ARCHIS at 9. Cyprus' Eurovision runner-up is up to 6, and Taylor Swift gets her first top 10 since Shake it Off 3 years ago. Highest new entry is the Backstreet Boys, shockingly in at 17 from nowhere, their first new track in 13 years, and the first top 20 since 2001's The Call. They had 3 number ones in my charts, so I certainly did like them when they were on fire, less so on the dirge-y ballads. Petula Clark's 1966 fab track debuts, thanks to featuring on the itunes chart - I'm guessing it's an advert, but don't actually know why it was selling! Ben E. King is easier, the Royal wedding is the reason it's selling. Back yet again for Stand By Me. Rui Da Silva hasn't had a follow-up hit to his sole 2001 chart entry Touch Me - better 17 years late than never! Cher is in Deadpool 2 (the song that is) and bounces back in almost 30 years on, Air Supply 38 years on from topping my chart (also Deadpool), and also Pat Benatar 1986-era top 10. Gilbert O'Sullivan is back after a decade away from my charts (with new stuff), and extends his chart run to 48 years (phew!), while Pharrell has a piffling 12 years of charting - or 16 counting NERD. Great chart :D Hi Pete!, Glad you know the top 8 :lol: I dont normally rechart tracks that topped my chart only a few years ago but Woodkid still sounds fresh and exciting, Ive never got to the point where I feel "hmmm a bit bored of hearing of it for a while, need a break of 10 years or so" :lol: Fuego was the track that should have won Eurovision, the Israel track was just a novelty record for me, plus Cyprus have waited long enough :) Hoping your BJSC entry does well, it will be entering my chart..... cheers!
